Meghan's dress was lovely but lumpy looking,/ill fitting bra look

Anyone else notice how lumpy it looked at front like when you wear a bra that's two small and you have two cleavages lt spoiled it for me tbh though l think she looked stunning. I thought it might just be the light as it is quite shimmery but have noticed it in several shots /light now. A wardrobe malfunction?

And I challenge you to find a post where I commented either positively or negatively on Meghan's dress.

biscuitraider · 22/05/2018 12:42

No i'm not picking holes in your posts, i was replying to your response to one of my posts. You said that people who criticise things about the royal wedding are generally unhappy. I was disputing this.

Incidentally I too have not criticised THE DRESS, but i defend people's right to do so, the reasons being in my post above.

I work in a couture house and oversee the whole process and am head fitter. When we have a rich or high profile client order a wedding dress, it is common to loose weight just before the day and so we do a final fitting a week or 2 before the wedding. In my opinion the bodice on that dress needed to be taken in a little and it would have given a cleaner and more flattering silhouette. The fashion house would definitely have been able to alter the dress if she had lost weight, so that's not the reason. Maybe Meghan preferred a looser more comfortable fit and to have more arm movement. Slightly too loose is better than slightly too tight in this fabric.
FWIW I thought Kate's wedding dress was a little too tight and it had been taken in too much on the bust darts. The bust darts had been sewn too high and deep and created a pointy look.
There's nothing bitchy about my comments, just saying facts.

LineyGrantDuff · 22/05/2018 13:24

I am very happy for everyone to have an opinion and to express it. It's very interesting.

I was so convinced I'd look shit in a wedding dress that I wore an ivory trouser suit.

Ohsuchaperfectday · 22/05/2018 14:04

Peachy that's really interesting.

How wondeful working at fashion House! I'm thinking of the film woodcock

Ohsuchaperfectday · 22/05/2018 14:04

Sorry phantom thread

Lweji · 22/05/2018 14:10

FWIW I thought Kate's wedding dress was a little too tight and it had been taken in too much on the bust darts.

I agree. When I compared the two dresses the other day, Kate's looked weird at the bust.

I remember Sophie's dress, all those years ago, being considered two loose as well. I was told mine was also too loose, but I was very comfortable in it (not so much now Smile).

PeachyPeachTrees · 22/05/2018 14:19

Ohsuchaperfectday I have just Googled Phantom Thread film and it looks great, I'm definitely going to watch it, thanks!

Yorkshirebetty · 22/05/2018 17:00

Good points Peachy - I'm no expert but thought the same about Kate's dress. The bodice was skin tight and the cups looked odd and not at all flattering. Cups rarely look good in a dress! The rest of the dress was divine, gorgeous skirt and the lace was lovely. To me, Meghan's is an elegant and a chic choice.

HairyToity · 22/05/2018 22:26

I agree Peachy. I thought Kate's dress gave her conical breasts. Preferred Meghans.

cherrytrees123 · 23/05/2018 20:24

I totally agree with you Peachy. I thought Kate's dress looked far too tight over the bust and made her look like Madonna in that famous bra.

namechangemynameagain · 23/05/2018 20:44

Peachy you are so right. Kate's pointy Madonna boobs were pretty much all I noticed about her dress. Meghan looked much more natural and dare I say beautiful as the focus was on her face not her bust.

MairzyDoats · 23/05/2018 21:45

Ooh Peachy I want your job! You should post more stuff, that was really interesting.

SKitCat · 24/05/2018 10:26

Haha! I just can't stop going on and on about it! Even if she lost some weight ... surely if I was Givenchy I'd have sent my man to be there and fit the dress to be good for a princess and those millions of eyes watching.

specialsubject · 24/05/2018 11:09

seems to be a Yanny/Laurel situation. Meghan looked fine to me, Kate looked like her bra was showing thanks to huge lumps of really badly placed lace, on what was overall a serious toilet roll doll dress.

but no-one else on MN could see it.

let's face it, very difficult for an adult woman to look good in dead white, however pretty she is.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2018 15:35

I thought she might have gone for Ivory myself, but maybe there would have been criticism as Diana's dress was ivory.

The5000 · 24/05/2018 18:02

I thought Catherine was trying to channel a bit of Grace Kelly's wedding dress (sleeves, shoulders, bodice) but I don't know really about these things.

Yorkshirebetty · 24/05/2018 18:17

Yes, I read that Kate loved Princess Grace's dress and had a similar design.

Jonbb · 03/06/2018 21:17

It must be lovely to be a man and not face the intense scrutiny, observations and criticisms (and compliments) women are supposed to put up with. Personally I hate anybody commenting on my dress or appearance in any way. I'm sure I am not unique in that, and I wish women were not judged on their appearance in that manner. And it's getting worse not better.
