Meghan's dress was lovely but lumpy looking,/ill fitting bra look

Anyone else notice how lumpy it looked at front like when you wear a bra that's two small and you have two cleavages lt spoiled it for me tbh though l think she looked stunning. I thought it might just be the light as it is quite shimmery but have noticed it in several shots /light now. A wardrobe malfunction?

lol at all the posters thinking that making negative comments about a woman's WEDDING DRESS isn't bitchy. Surely if ever there was a time to follow the rule 'if you can't say anything nice say nothing' it's when talking about a wedding dress.

suchatiredbunny · 21/05/2018 15:52

Oh dear, if Meghan is an apple shape I dread to think what I might be.....a watermelon maybe?? Grin

FWIW, I really liked her dress, part of me thinks it was a bit too plain but the overall effect was striking. I thought the veil was too long, but I liked the nod to the commonwealth and the tiara has grown on me the more pictures I've seen still think she should have worn the Spencer tiara though

Bottom line is that she liked it and Harry clearly thought she looked stunning. The official photos are also fab, especially the black and white one. Although her hair looked messy.....but then I might think that because I hate my own hair being messy, I might look like a bag lady on the school run but my hair is never untidy! Grin

And I really enjoyed the thread in S&B (sorry, can't remember who started it) where we were all chatting happily about who was wearing what as the guests were arriving, that was a lovely thread. My favourite outfits were Lady Spencer in the purple, Camilla in pale pink and Gina Torres.

MountainHedgehog · 21/05/2018 16:00

Fuck me some people are lovely.
Of course the commonwealth flowers would have been suggested to her and okayed by the queen not off her own suggestion!

With the designers and herald the dress looked exactly as it was supposed to, if they wanted it skin right it would have been altered the day before. She needed to be able to sit in the dress for the carriage ride and still look good.

Why do wedding dresses need to be skin tight? If I got married again I wouldn’t wear strapless and would have a looser fitting dress, it’s jistbat the time there was nothing with straps or sleeves that wasn’t covered in fake jewels.

Why did she need a necklace? It would have ruined the look, sometimes less really is more.

RoseWhiteTips · 21/05/2018 16:04

I suppose it takes a fruitloop to see an apple.

Ooh. A pun.

AprilLady4 · 21/05/2018 16:27

Doesn't look at all lumpy or ill-fitting to me.

extinctspecies · 21/05/2018 17:28

Agree with Hedgehog.

A necklace would have ruined the neckline.

And also been superfluous with the tiara.

I was just wondering as I wouldn't bother to watch for example Jeremy Corbyn's triumphal progress through Venezuela

Grin

Couldn't but help laugh at this. I think BR really enjoyed the wedding in spite of herself Grin

I thought the dress was plain. Well cut - and I felt the whole thing was there to set off one thing, Meghan's stunning face and I think the job was done. She is an astonishing beautiful woman.

biscuitraider · 21/05/2018 18:09

I think she's attractive, but definitely don't think she's astonishingly beautiful. Neither does anyone i know.

Dapplegrey · 21/05/2018 18:12

Biscuit - I think it's unlikely you would have anything nice to say about any member of the royal family or anyone who married into it!

GalwayWayfarer · 21/05/2018 18:14

I think she's spectacularly beautiful. It's all a matter of taste obviously, but there's something of a consensus that she's a stunner.

JustCallMeJones · 21/05/2018 18:28

Loved her dress, simple and elegant.

I’m sure if millions of eyes were focussed on any one of us on our wedding day, a few would criticise aspects of our dress.

Can’t imagine how nervous she must have been before she left the car to walk up the steps all by herself.

Good on her. I thought she looked stunning!

Justanothermama · 21/05/2018 19:01

I thought the same. I watched the whole wedding today as I was out on a Saturday so I only got a glimpse. My first thought was that it’s entirely appropriate, suits her and was what I expected she’d go for BUT it needed a bit of taking in as it swamped her figure.

Today while watching I noticed her bra was clearly showing like a lump under the top and it was far more baggy than I thought.

It could have been spectacular and it was just ok. However her evening dress was INCREDIBLE and I bet that would have been her personal choice for the wedding had she not had to conform to all the rules.

You are of course absolutely right. It is a matter of opinion, a matter of taste. Is that not what we do on MN? Express an opinion? I know I don’t have a monopoly on taste or opinion but I do have a right to expression.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 19:47

Athena18 I think you have the wrong person. I'm all for opinion sharing, the more varied the better! I usually end my posts by saying "just my opinion" because some people can get a bit overbearing! Best wishes.

Tinkobell · 21/05/2018 19:52

Personally I find the tight dead flush bodice look a bit dated. Meghans dress showed off her lovely shoulders and shape. To me some movement on the fabric just served to show how luxurious it was.

Tinkobell · 21/05/2018 19:55

Also the brightness of the fabric against her lovely caramel tones - spot on! The girl needs no embellishments.

mydogisthebest · 21/05/2018 20:10

Biscuit, I too think she is stunningly beautiful as does my DH. In fact every that I have spoken to about the wedding (friends, family, neighbours) have just about all said how beautiful she is.

When me and DH first started watching Suits I kept saying how beautiful she was and how I would kill to look like her

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 21/05/2018 20:14

Gosh yes, the dress fitted exactly as it was supposed to! It was cut absolutely beautifully. A 'tight' or closely fitted bodice would have been a different dress entirely. It was never meant to look like that!

She looked absolutely beautiful. She chose perfectly for her hair, make up, dress and veil. She looked like herself, but an exquisitely bridal version!

papayasareyum · 21/05/2018 21:01

apparently Katy Bloody Perry has weighed in, saying that the dress needed “one more fitting”
Honestly, these celebs have no clue, they’re so used to being sewed into skintight bodycon and very revealing body skimming showgirl attire. This is what a traditional bridal gown looks like.

TatianaLarina · 21/05/2018 21:10

Katy Perry, Queen of tight trash.

Got me spread like a buffet boy, Bon appetit!

YearOfYouRemember · 21/05/2018 21:14

All this a guest being mistaken for a bride. Surely if you're going to a wedding you know the bride so it's obvious if someone isn't her..

The80sweregreat · 21/05/2018 21:31

I bet Meghan is worried about Katy P’s opinion (not)

BertrandRussell · 21/05/2018 21:52

"Couldn't but help laugh at this. I think BR really enjoyed the wedding in spite of herself grin"

Not in spite of myself at all-I love weddings, I love pageant. I love clothes and I love celeb-spotting. Socialists don't have to spend all their time in homespun and pasty shoes eating lentils, you know!

Dapplegrey · 21/05/2018 22:01

Hmm....there may not be too many nice clothes at Corbyn's May Day parades, but there'll be lots of pageantry and quite a few celebs such as Russell Brand and Lily Allen and some pretty smart banners and placards.
