Meghan's dress was lovely but lumpy looking,/ill fitting bra look

Anyone else notice how lumpy it looked at front like when you wear a bra that's two small and you have two cleavages lt spoiled it for me tbh though l think she looked stunning. I thought it might just be the light as it is quite shimmery but have noticed it in several shots /light now. A wardrobe malfunction?

The wedding gift charity to help women in India with period poverty is an excellent idea.
I'm also laughing at Meghan being apple shaped!! Or that the dress was loose or baggy! Or the fishtail suggestion GrinGrin
Maybe she should have a meaningful poem tattooed on her arms in cursive script Wink

Cardiganqueen71 · 21/05/2018 08:03

Yorkshire Betty! Yes, haha! and they probably should have got married bare foot on the beach.... Smile

Athena18 · 21/05/2018 08:04

Let’s be honest. Meghan is going to look beautiful in anything. However, the dress did remind me of my first thought when I saw Sophie Wessex’s dress. Looks too big for her. Will never be considered iconic like Diana’s although I personally didn’t like Diana’s. So difficult to get it right. At the end of the day I suppose it is a wedding not a catwalk and as long as she felt great that’s what matters. Not everyone will nail it like The Middleton girls did.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 08:10

I don't think that the Middleton girls nailed it, but that's down to personal taste. I think Meghan looked elegant, Harry looked a sweaty mess, but they're clearly besotted with each other!

extinctspecies · 21/05/2018 08:10

The dress did not look too big.

It's not supposed to be skintight, -which would have been chavvy- and she needs to have room to move in it.

BertrandRussell · 21/05/2018 08:14

We have got completely caught up the the "women's clothes must be skin tight" thing. Practically all clothes look better on the slightly looser side. With exceptions, of course.

TheDowagerCuntess · 21/05/2018 08:23

Not everyone will nail it like The Middleton girls did.

That's completely a matter of opinion.

I don't think either Kate nor Pippa 'nailed' their wedding gowns. I thought Meghan's dress was way more stunning than either of theirs.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 08:26

I wonder if it's a generational thing, Bertrand? I'm nearly 60 and like clean lines and a looser fit. I work with a few women in their 30s who all wear skin tight clothes, even in the heat. So tight you can see every lump and bump, the outline of underwear, the shape and design of the bra. Two of them got married, both in skin tight strapless numbers, but it's not a style I personally think is flattering. Personal taste, and I loved Meghan's look.

SayImADreamer · 21/05/2018 08:33

@Pensionista
Whys that funny?

Im the exact same shape as Meghan except a lot taller. Im a size 8 and an apple shape. Apple shape doesnt mean you're a massive blob. It means youve got really slender limbs with a little less definition around the middle and you'll see on other photos of MM that thats the case with her - less of a hip to waist ratio than an hourglass.

Brian28 · 21/05/2018 08:44

The way you lot go on maybe she should have turned up naked. She looked gorgeous, dress, hair the whole lot. Just leave them in peace to live their lives. I bet half of you lot on here can't talk, you are probably dressed in rags!!

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 08:58

As long as neither of them caught Victoria Beckham's sour face on their way out, although I suspect that wouldn't have dampened their joy!

JuJu2017 · 21/05/2018 09:07

It was a very beautiful dress, but it didn’t look like the best fit! And Kate should not have worn cream! My MIL did that at my wedding :(

AhoyDelBoy · 21/05/2018 09:10

@Yorkshirebetty
I'm in my 30's and prefer the same. Your coworkers dress sense sounds tacky but I don't necessarily think that's down to age.

AhoyDelBoy · 21/05/2018 09:12

I don't think either Kate nor Pippa 'nailed' their wedding gowns. I thought Meghan's dress was way more stunning than either of theirs.
I've heard it all now!

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 09:13

@AhoyDelBoy - that's interesting, I thought maybe it was a thing for 30 somethings. I've noticed a couple of women in their 20s who dress in a slightly looser, more elegant way at work. Maybe not age, but taste.

Dapplegrey · 21/05/2018 09:14

Bertrand - this is a genuine question but why did you watch the Royal Wedding as I've often read comments by you on mn in which you loathe everything about the royal family and all it stands for.
I was just wondering as I wouldn't bother to watch for example Jeremy Corbyn's triumphal progress through Venezuela.

Yorkshirebetty · 21/05/2018 09:16

Jeremy Corbyn's triumphal progress through Venezuela ha ha ha Grin

IrmaFayLear · 21/05/2018 09:17

She looked gorgeous. Gavel. The dress was beautifully elegant.

I remember being Shock when a US work colleague (of the Working Girl variety, for full information) stated that the best "pant suits" were ones where you could see the line of your "panties" underneath. Er, yep. Some people on here think unless someone has been poured into their dress it's ill-fitting.

pollymere · 21/05/2018 09:21

Her dress looked like the sash or belt was missing and was too short at the front. It was also far too big. It had the potential to be beautiful but missed the mark.

BertrandRussell · 21/05/2018 09:27

"Bertrand - this is a genuine question but why did you watch the Royal Wedding as I've often read comments by you on mn in which you loathe everything about the royal family and all it stands for. "
Because I love posh frocks, celebrity spotting, music, horses and soap operas. And I have quite a lot of time for Meghan. You?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 21/05/2018 09:30

Kate didn't wear cream, it was pale lemon.

And what's wrong with cream anyway?

LizzieSiddal · 21/05/2018 09:30

Meghan’s dress wasn’t meant to be skin tight. It had some “give” built into it so she could sit down comfortably. DD got married last year and one of the biggest considerations was that she had to be able to sit down easily and still be able to breathe! The fitter made DD practice doing this at each fitting!

Dapplegrey · 21/05/2018 09:44

Bertrand - I watched it for the same reasons as you except for soap operas. Also I'd rather have a Royal Family than Cherie Blair or Anne Widdicombe or John Prescott parading down the mall in the state coach.
Weren't you very irritated by all those crowds of people cheering?
However however beautiful the horses and frocks in John McDonnell's pageant about the glories of the Soviet Union and GDR I still don't think I'd watch it.

mydogisthebest · 21/05/2018 09:57

I much preferred Meghan's dress to Kate's. I don't know why anyone would find that strange. Meghan's was much simpler but very elegant. Kate's was nice but very strange lacy bit on her bust.

I am in my 60's and hate the fashion for very tight clothes unless you are practically stick thin they do no woman any favours. Also showing off as much of your body as you can particularly boobs. I have seen a few women look really good in strapless wedding dresses but they have been quite sleek elegant dresses. The big flouncy ones, in my opinion, look quite trashy

TheFatkinsDiet · 21/05/2018 10:01

I loved both dresses (KM & MM), but MM’s is definitely more my style. I just loved how simple it was, but so beautifully made and still comfortable looking. KM looked amazing too though.
