OP posts:
FissionChips · 20/05/2018 10:38

but do any of you know anyone who has worked in the sex industry

Yup, I’ve known over 40 prostitutes throughout my life, all have suffered sexual abuse (and other abuses) as a child. All of them have been seriously hurt/ raped by clients as adults.

BeyondPink · 20/05/2018 10:51

Yep. Addressing actually fixing the problem sounds a whole lot more sensible than sticking a plaster on it

Dietcokebreak1 · 20/05/2018 10:59

It's nieve to think that the Belle de'joure type prostitute is the norm. Yes there are a small percent that earn good money and choose it as a carer. But most, 90% I think are in it because there were forced, coerced, victims of circumstances, drug addicts and/or vulnerable due to childhood sexual abuse or mental health problems. Most earn pitaful amounts, some as little as £5-£40 for depending on the act.

Using any prostitute keeps the industry going, and keep the myth perpetuated that they are all willing participants.

That being said, hypothetically, if a disabled person was unable to masterbate, would it be ok for someone to provide them with "hand relief" in exchange for money?

Branleuse · 20/05/2018 11:54

i dont know. How often do you wank people off for a favour or for money?

Peanutbuttercups21 · 20/05/2018 13:11

Exactly Branleuse!!!!!!

Dietcokebreak1 · 20/05/2018 13:46

I'm just thinking wanking is somthing that able bodied people can do that some disabled persons can't. So would it be fair to provide that as a personal care service. No oriffises have to entered, gloves and condom could be warn.

BeyondPink · 20/05/2018 13:49

Is having a wank really that essential though? Really?
I somehow managed after gynae surgery - I didn't get blue ovaries and explode.

StealthPolarBear · 20/05/2018 13:52

Presumably the service would be provided to men and women by men and women? No one would have a preference

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 20/05/2018 13:53

My frlends brother has disabled and really wants a GF . But a non disabled one

Sadly in today’s world (in fact forever ) they are not as easy to find

I can see the logic for this and hopefully they are a safer client for the working women than some of the evil men out there

Given it’s the worlds oldest profession Confused

Live and let live ?

I won’t be Mentioning this to said friend however

FissionChips · 20/05/2018 14:00

Why not be a volunteer wanker then Dietcokebreak1? An hour out of your week and you could probably give a happy ending to 4 dissabled individuals.

DaisysStew · 20/05/2018 14:03

I think it feeds into the notion that men are “owed” sex and it’s something they “need” rather than a desire. Also it reinforced the idea that it’s ok to buy and sell women’s bodies to satisfy that “need”, no matter what the cost to that woman or women in wider society.

I also don’t think that consent is something to be bought and sold, it’s either given freely or it isn’t so anyone paying for sex is doing so with someone who isn’t fully consenting.

So basically my feelings on disabled people using prostitutes are the same as my feelings on any person doing so - it’s abhorrent to use a fellow human being as nothing more than a convenient hole for you to unload in. I honestly think anyone who does that can’t see the sex worker as a human being.

And yes I was very close to someone in the sex industry and watched it break her - but who cares eh? As long as no poor fella had to suffer the dreaded blue balls what’s does one woman’s life being destroyed matter.

LassWiADelicateAir · 20/05/2018 14:05

I think buying sex is never a good thing. Sex is not a right or even an essential for life - saying that anyone 'needs' it for a balanced life is totally bonkers.

Haven't read the whole thread but agree with this.

Good point. Volunteering removes all possibility of the exploitation in the paid for sex. I doubt there will be a rush of volunteers however.

StealthPolarBear · 20/05/2018 14:07

"hopefully they are a safer client for the working women than some of the evil men out there"
Why?

lovetheway · 20/05/2018 14:12

I think my head might explode with the irony Angry. Is that not part of the problem with the 'incels' - every man wants a model. And if he can't get that, he'll pay for it and pretend she does it because she wants to

StealthPolarBear · 20/05/2018 14:21

What if he paid for sex and she had a disability

FissionChips · 20/05/2018 14:28

Does no one think about the impact of knowing that men are buying their Mum has on children? They don’t grow up well adjusted that’s for sure.

I really would like to know if any of the pro buying another human supporters have thought of that.

Dietcokebreak1 · 20/05/2018 14:48

I'm not sure I want volunteer, I don't even like wanking of my husband. Hurts my wrist.

LassWiADelicateAir · 20/05/2018 15:23

Exactly- well put.

Aeroflotgirl · 20/05/2018 15:42

Abso, ute.y fine. Those services are for both men and women!

BertrandRussell · 20/05/2018 15:47

"Those services are for both men and women!"

The services are for men. There is a separate number to ring if you are a woman to discuss your requirements. Does anyone have the bottle to ring it?

itsbetterthanabox · 20/05/2018 16:00

There are sex toys that facilitate masturbation for those with physical disabilities.
People should be helped in accessing these if they wish to. Unfortunately we find sex awkward to talk about though.

RebelRogue · 20/05/2018 17:05

If your client lacks mental capacity, the mental capacity required for consent to sex is not at a high level, and it should not be assumed that any person lacks it. If your client truly lacks mental capacity to make decisions about sex because they have been assessed as being unable to understand what is involved, and any risks involved for them, then it is important to consider whether they could be helped by tailored sex and relationship education.

This is how they handle issues about consent for their service users! Basically, just work around it.

Somehow I don't think they are much more careful or worried about the consent of prostitutes.

Not just that, but I do believe it leaves the people using this service quite vulnerable as well depending on what their disability is.

I'd rather more effort was put into socialising, developing hobbies and interests ,encouraging relationships to form naturally at events and organised days etc.

You can't fix loneliness with a wank.

Branleuse · 20/05/2018 17:07

My frlends brother has disabled and really wants a GF . But a non disabled one

Quite! like I said earlier in a previous post. Most disabled people can get sex. its mostly they cant always get who they perceive to be "high status" women or non disabled women.

BeyondPink · 20/05/2018 17:07

Hang on, it should not be assumed that any person who lacks the capacity to consent to sex, does not indeed consent...?

That is dodgy as fuck.

LassWiADelicateAir · 20/05/2018 17:13

Aside from all the other reasons to oppose this , the question of consent seems very problematic.

And for the avoidance of doubt the fact this is being offered for women too does not make it any less unacceptable.
