AIBU to think that anyone who hears Laurel is playing a practical joke? It's definitely yanny!

It’s definitely Yanny

Clawdy · 16/05/2018 15:20

Can only hear Yanny.

Flisspaps · 16/05/2018 15:23

I hear both!

Yanny is quite high pitched

Laurel is very deep

I hear them in different ears

eatyourveg · 16/05/2018 15:24

laurel

steppemum · 16/05/2018 15:24

Oh so weird.

I heard it on the radio and only heard Yanni ( but a bit distorted, but no hint of Lauren at all)
Just clicked on ops link and only hear Laurel, very clearly Laurel!

exexpat · 16/05/2018 15:27

Same here, steppemum: I hear Yanny on the car radio, Laurel on the internet. Presumably because it is a vary basic car sound system with weak bass output.

Namechangemum100 · 16/05/2018 15:29

Eh?! It's Laurel surely

FrozenMargarita17 · 16/05/2018 15:37

I heard yanny. Then I sent it to a friend and listened again and now I can only hear laurel and I'm confused as to how I heard yanny in the first place!

Mustangsallyis · 16/05/2018 15:42

Yanny

Zeze247 · 16/05/2018 15:42

FaultySpice · 16/05/2018 15:43

I've only heard Yanny. Just played it to DS with no context - he says Laurel! 😱

RomeoBunny · 16/05/2018 15:47

Laurel.

mynotfinkso · 16/05/2018 15:49

I just tried it on my ipad. I hear yanny if i hold it close to my ear but laurel if i hold the ipad away. So weird!

FleurDelacoeur · 16/05/2018 16:20

Massive fights in this house. DS (14) and I are hearing "yanny" very clearly, DD (12) is hearing "laurel" and cannot understand for the life of her why we can't. She thinks we're winding her up.

Candyflip · 16/05/2018 16:25

“Yearly” not Laurel or Yanny

OneStepOneStumble · 16/05/2018 16:29

Laurel. Can't even fathom how people are hearing yanny.

I've listened to is close up, far away, loud, quiet, with and without headphones to try and hear it but i literally can't.

If I hadn't played the clip to my office and we all have a split opinion concurrently I'd assume somehow the sound clip was playing a different word each time it was clicked 😂

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/05/2018 16:31

Definitely 100% Yanny.

Choccywoccyhooha · 16/05/2018 16:35

I can only hear Laurel. DH can here Tanny. We are both English and 40.

RogueAnt · 16/05/2018 16:38

Yanny.

I am 48, got some high pitched hearing loss in left ear.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 16/05/2018 16:39

I listened this morning and it was a very clear definite Laurel. Just tried again in the interests of research... still Laurel clear as a bell

Lemoncurd · 16/05/2018 16:40

I hear 'yearly', a definite 'y' at the start and end.

yawning801 · 16/05/2018 16:44

I kind of hear "yeeaaammy", a very nasal American voice. How the bloody hell do people hear Laurel???

sushinelove · 16/05/2018 16:45

I hear Laurel, DH hears Laurel and DS thinks we are freaks and hears Yanny 😂

villageshop · 16/05/2018 16:46

On the radio this morning I heard Laurel, clearly Laurel and only Laurel - James O'Brien show on LBC.

Now on that link on P.1 I can only hear Yanny - regardless of volume or tone. I tried and tried to hear Laurel again but it was definitely Yanny.

Weird!

Sweatymoose · 16/05/2018 16:47

Yanny! How the hell does that sound like Laurel, there's not even an 'L'?!
