What a mess. The poor girl.

OP posts:
LaurieMarlow · 15/05/2018 20:49

However I feel that this is a slap in the face to so many British women in this country

What a bizarre comment. People are free to marry who they like you know. You don't have to stick to your own nationality.

PavlovianLunge · 15/05/2018 20:49

There are millions of beautiful British women for you to choose from harry.

I can’t decide whether this is racism, xenophobia, or both. Either way, it’s a twattish, bigoted comment.

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 20:50

My inlaws and family were hard work / my mil is a narc and we had drama - it happens but this is much worse as it’s all played out in front of us all in the media. Must be horrible.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 15/05/2018 20:51

He's jumping the gun that he'll be fit enough or that he'll even be allowed to travel even if he does feel well enough.
He's just had a bloody heart attack. It's no small thing. Traveling can be very stressful.
It's not exactly great for the old ticker, is it.

dayinlifeof · 15/05/2018 20:51

I can't decide if you are stupid, racist, xenophobic or all three.

blackteasplease · 15/05/2018 20:51

I think everyone should calm down (dear) about her family, and by everyone I mean the likes of the Fail. Im sure minor royals (like Harry will be in the end as his brother's brood grow up) have married people with odd relatives befire. Just they were posh odd relatives.

I hate how disliking Megan = racist. My own mother is biracial. I just think that Megan and her family will find it difficult fitting into the lifestyle the royals have. Just look how they have dealt with the press the whole thing is a shambles. I feel British people usually know how to deal with this type of stuff. Families like Megan’s don’t.

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 20:52

He should stay away now. release a press statement and get her mum to do the honours.

Rainbunny · 15/05/2018 20:53

Have to say I'm still staggered that the palace, PH & MM have left her father out there alone in the run up to this event. They are planning a wedding that will be a public event designed to show of the royals at their best and this guy was expected to fly in a few days before the wedding to meet his prospective son in law for the first time ever and attend the ceremony? If this was my father I'd have flown him in a month ago and made sure to introduce him to everyone so that he was comfortable and of course would have arranged for his morning suit etc... Were they planning to whip up a suit for him in a day or two?(although they absolutely could given their resources).

The fact that MM barely seems to be in contact with him and apparently hasn't wanted to bring him over earlier to spend any quality time with her & PH (or even just meet him!), royal family etc... speaks volumes to me and the main conclusion I get from it is that she is embarrassed by her father.

Carouselfish · 15/05/2018 20:54

Don't see why the RF haven't protected Mr Markle a bit more by giving him media training. He has no idea how to handle the stress, the attention, the way anything you say or do can be twisted. I feel sorry for him. Surely it's in the RF's interest to help her family deal with it all not just hope that they'd remain silent?

I just feel as a royal you shouldn’t be taking such risks. They have only been together for a year. Harry hasn’t even met most of the family the whole thing is a mess. If the family lived in Britain Harry would’ve most likely have already met them before even proposing to Megan.

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 20:58

The royals probably assumed he would be ok. They don’t strike me as people with much empathy for others / no idea.

LaurieMarlow · 15/05/2018 20:58

What a load of shit. No-one has a clue what it's like to marry into the royal family, whether they're British, American or anything else.

On paper Diana was the most 'suitable' of all the brides and we all know what a fucking disaster that was.

Rollandbutter · 15/05/2018 20:59

The Royal family have more form for being a complete embarrassment than anything Megan's dad has done, abd they're used to the media attention so should know better!

SevenStones · 15/05/2018 20:59

I feel that this is a slap in the face to so many British women in this country.

What a load of nonsense. You love who you love. How awful for anyone at all, no matter who they are, to only be able to marry someone from the same country or specific circle. Yes, I know it happens, but it's a bad thing not a good thing.

Sharkwithknees · 15/05/2018 21:00

I think the wedding should be stopped and Harry should marry me. A true brit and a true mumsnetter.

We'd have naice ham, served by a little old Korean lady, and pom bears served in little party dishes. Then we'd head off to Maui for our honeymoon, not before kicking off that someone was blocking our limo in by parking incorrectly.

And I'd give live updates all the while on MN. You know it should happen Grin

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 21:01

Shark - please write a blog!

LaurieMarlow · 15/05/2018 21:01

i just feel as a royal you shouldn’t be taking such risks. They have only been together for a year.

I'm sure that when harry's looking for your advice he'll be in touch Wink

PorkyPortia · 15/05/2018 21:03

Sharkwithknees you beat me to it Grin
Just let them be

Sharkwithknees · 15/05/2018 21:04

I'd also post all our relationship woes. "Harry doesn't like me going topless", "Harry wants me to be a SAHM", "Harry can't get it up" and "found texts on Harry's phone"

LondonJax · 15/05/2018 21:06

Shark can I be your bridesmaid?

I have a naice dress and I don't have a bottom like Pippa so I wouldn't steal the limelight.

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 21:06

The press do not seem to like her. ( some bits of the press)
Her own family are giving her grief.
I bet she’ll be pleased when it’s all over.

mum786 · 15/05/2018 21:06

Beesamy As a British woman, I'm sure I speak for so many others out there, that please don't be patronising.

I have worked for the Royal family and you will be surprised to know that those who really matter are not as judgemental as you might think.
Meghan is all that people would not expect to join the Royals, but I will have you know that there ARE other members of that clan who have gone out of the norm and are very happy indeed having been welcomed with open arms.

Lord Mountbatten's grand daughter is married to a NIGERIAN man, they live a very humble existence somewhere in Manchester.
.
Nicholas Knatchbull who's ex girlfriend was Ethiopian is now engaged to be married to a foreign girl from the Far East,
So lady, tata along with your snootiness, there are some Brits who, thank God, don't think like you do.

HasAnyoneGotAProblemWithThat · 15/05/2018 21:07

Shark well played

The80sweregreat · 15/05/2018 21:08

Shark - you have to do a AIBU about ‘arry and his dressing up / then getting his kit off ‘ fetish. Then get your ducks in a row for the big divorce.
