My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

DairyQueen, everything you said!

My republican piss has practically boiled dry.

Semster · 15/05/2018 22:18

I am a bit shocked that there is so much fuss being made of an adult woman, with a successful career and her own money, having to have some attention-seeking bloke walk her down the aisle. I would be far happier to see her do it alone. That would be a statement for a modern woman and a modern royal family. She really does not need to be 'given away' in 2018.

Wouldn't that be wonderful? I totally agree.

ForalltheSaints · 15/05/2018 22:18

Well it ruled out the FA Cup final starting at 3pm, which I would have liked.

Good luck to the OPs son in his music exam.

Trialsmum · 15/05/2018 22:22

It isn’t, we live waaaay up north so I don’t think the wedding party will pass anywhere near us!

ValleyClouds · 15/05/2018 22:22

The Nick Witchall thing is so weird.

When the boys were still young but post Diana, Charles was caught on a microphone taking the piss out of him and saying he was DREADFUL

Yet 20 years later he's STILL a Royal Correspondent falling over himself to lick their boots when he knows they find him contemptuous you'd wonder why he stayed in the role and didn't pick another topic to correspond about

Saints, the FA Cup Final has kicked off at 5:15 since 2012, I believe, much to the disappointment of most fans.

It's not been moved because of the Royal Wedding, it's due to TV schedulers overriding the FA with cash, presumably.

Dixiestampsagain · 16/05/2018 06:06

I’ll be missing it as DDhas her ballet show. I’m more upset about missing the FA Cup Final...

operaha · 16/05/2018 06:58

DS is having to go to school dressed up for the day give him a camera and make a big grey furry thing on a stick as the microphone and send him as the paparazzi Smile

JennyOnAPlate · 16/05/2018 07:22

I have to admit that I'm looking forward to seeing the wedding (although I'll have to watch it on catch up due to a football tournament and dance exams).

The hoo ha surrounding it is fucking me right off though. The dc have to wear red white and blue to school on Friday (who the hell has white clothes for young dc???) I'm hoping Asda have something cheap otherwise my two will just be blue.

MrsDylanBlue · 16/05/2018 07:24

GMB are VERY over invested this morning with a panel of three “experts” Grin

Yogagirl123 · 16/05/2018 07:24

Be a usual weekend here, looking forward to seeing her dress though! And hoping their marriage will be a happy one.

SporadicSpartacus · 16/05/2018 07:26

Work have put up annoying bunting everywhere, spoiling the minimalist elegance of my cube.

LokiBear · 16/05/2018 07:43

I have to bake fucking cakes because dd's fucking school is having a fucking 'street party'. It's my fucking birthday tomorrow and I don't want to spend it baking for a fucking street party. I have zero issue with the wedding, two people getting married is almost always a lovely thing. I will oooh and ahhh at the dress. I just hate the bandwagon jumping PTA at dd's school and their bollocksy 'fund raising' ideas that cost me money to make, money to attend and then I'm treated to sad looks from the alpha mummies when my stuff looks shit by comparison. Wow. Way too much anger from me this morning.

BlueJava · 16/05/2018 07:49

JennyOnAPlate Asda Slough have a royal wedding clothes stand. Nice dress which isn't over the top (i.e. would wear again) and t-shirts.

JennyOnAPlate · 16/05/2018 08:17

Thanks Blue fingers crossed for my local Asda!

alid117 · 16/05/2018 17:37

I’m working near Clivenden where M is staying will be interesting what the roads will be like there on Friday!

Trudij123 · 16/05/2018 17:38

I can’t buy the hat I really like in my local charity shop window until Monday because it’s being used as a display...

BitOutOfPractice · 16/05/2018 17:39

I've been forced to leave the country to avoid the whole shebang

Notreallyhappy · 16/05/2018 17:39

Will miss it as in Ireland for a wedding....more concerned that sky go won't work on my phone and will miss the fa cup😀

Ohmygodareyouserious · 16/05/2018 17:41

I work at an airport and have even a massive increase in Yanks coming over for ‘the wedding’. They are all so excited, I couldn’t give less of a shit....

MiddlingMum · 16/05/2018 17:46

It's not affecting me in the least. Is it this coming Saturday? If so, I'm out all day.

salsah · 16/05/2018 17:53

It’s made me go to bed way later than I wanted to this week googling updates on Dad Markle. I don’t know what has happened to me - I can’t get enough of piecing the whole story together, did he really have a heart attack, can he honestly have been buying all of that KFC/McD’s for himself, is there a new career for the party shop kid who pretended to measure him up, why did the RF let the media wolves get him like this, who’s watering the potplants he dropped off for Mom Markle, it goes on. My OH thinks I’ve gone stark raving and says ‘TBH most of Britain doesn’t care about this wedding’. In the middle of a serious conversation. About some stuff that happened at OH work, I said, can I just give you an update on Dad Markle. OH open mouthed. I honestly feel like I’ve had a personality transplant. I couldn’t have cared a bit about it last week. I’ll miss it when it’s over. I’m holding out for Dad Markle being flown on a private jet with a team of doctors to surprise Meghan on Saturday. Smile

salsah · 16/05/2018 17:54

(The irony being that we are really the media wolves)
