Ways that the Royal wedding is affecting you.

My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

People keep asking if we are streaming it live at work on Saturday. (Public building).
I keep pointing out that we have no way of doing this. Doesn't stop a few people saying that we really should.

It’s affecting me at work - I can’t book anyone in for appointments because “Oh no I can’t do SATURDAY, I’ll be watching the wedding”
Do these people not know I’ve got budgets to meet?!

It's making me even more resentful of the privileges this family enjoy. I can't get a doctors appointment until the surgery releases more at the end of the month. and then will have to join a queue. No private health care for me. And did you know staff at Buckingham Palace have the practice boundary fixed so that the number of patients is much smaller than normal.grrr. But this wedding will cheer us all up. fix everything! won't it????

I love the Royals. And love a nice wedding. I'll definitely tune in at 12.

Am also thrilled about the reduced noise from LHR for an hour or so.

boredretiree I agree, the royal family have the best health care going, No waiting times for GP visits, scans, blood tests, surgery etc. Is it any damn wonder they're so hale and hearty. Minor problems are nipped in the bud early. Combine that with good healthy regular meals, and servants taking care of every single need, it can't be stressed enough what a difference this makes and yet people admire their robustness and longevity as if it's all down to their good genes. I live in London and don't know anyone who is anyway interested in it, let along going to watch it. Some have shown interest in the Dress, but zilch else! Lots of people are not overly happy about it for obvious reasons.

There's going to be a big screen in the town centre here and I'm looking forward to mingling with some other ex-pat's

I don't think the marriage will go well and think the day will be tacky and contrived but would be v happy to be proved wrong! I like royal weddings usually.

I'm watching with a sharp-tongued friend and we aim to enjoy it- at their expense if necessary and it will be a fun Saturday regardless. We will have tiaras and prosecco partly to celebrate a recent promotion, too. I found union Jack cupcake cases at home so I will make some cakes, tomorrow evening as well. After the wedding I'm dashing to Reading for a night out and I hope the trains are ok!

I do expect to be underwhelmed by the dress though as I think Smughan Smirkle usually looks an underdone mess- in terms of dressing Royal. She is v v pretty and I feel sorry her wrt to all the family drama. I would be devastated if DF couldn't make my wedding Sad. Their family make me glad I'm an only child though. No batshit sibs.

I was in an Oxfam bookshop yesterday and the news came on the radio ...Meghan’s Dad, blah, blah... And the woman browsing next to me burst out with a very loud “NOBODY CARES!!!”
There was a certain amount of tutting, and a small round of applause.
The woman was very abashed and said she didn’t know what had come over her. It was brilliant!

Apparently the security for the wedding estimated at £32 million. How absolutely obscene when you consider the savage cuts for the poor and disabled, not to mention the homeless problem. Sickening, i'd be embarrassed at taking so much from a country that can barely feed its poor.

That was funny in the shop. Actually nobody cares around here either the cost , the on going problems the money needed for security the whole thing hasn’t seemed to catch the imagination ( here anyway)
Sad to say ‘ I give it a year or two’ is the general view.
Mind you , my own mil said ‘ I’ll give it a year ‘ 29 years ago! Nobody knows. It all feels a bit flat.

At the school where I work tomorrow, all our children will be in red, white and blue, and we are giving them a wedding buffet, complete with 3 tier wedding cake. Ours is a special school (very special we think), and our children are so very excited, bless them.

Given that red white and blue are the colours of France as well I would be soooooo tempted to send them with a revolutionary cockade and a Phrygian cap.

biscuitraider Same can be said of all of our political representatives. Council leaders, MPs and members of the House of Lords all have a very different NHS treatment experience to 'normal' people. They also get the RF NHS care. Extremely frustrating when you see how bad the NHS service is for everyone else.

I live in Windsor within easy walking distance of the Long Walk I have had to take a day off work tomorrow to secure an on-street parking place close to our house. If I move the car I have a snowball in hell’s chance of getting another until it’s all over.

Whatever your views on the Royal family, I found this [http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/going_to_the_wedding article] quite pleasing this morning. These three and all the others joining them are absolute stars and I'd enjoy watching the wedding even if it was only because they were being valued in such a way although I'm also in it for general curiosity and cake Cake
