Ways that the Royal wedding is affecting you.

My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

That’ll just piss you off when the planes resume Grin

Trust me, I remember how quiet SW London was when the volcano grounded all the flights. Then back to the roar.

SadieHH · 16/05/2018 19:55

I rashly offered to host a 'no one gives a toss' bbq and now I'm regretting it because the house and garden are a tip!

Nerdybeethoven · 16/05/2018 20:03

My DH will have to give up his afternoon to drive DS to a gig that his jazz band are doing at some community event, in celebration of the wedding. DS (13) is happy to be playing but gives zero shits about the royals. DH annoyed as he'd rather be at his allotment. I'll stay home with my youngest and potter domestically. Id be interested in watching the actual wedding as I'm interested in the music (and know some of the musicians involved) and pageantry but usually the commentators talk over everything with stupid inane comments which makes me really mad. I wish them all the luck but personally I'm not a fan. Ditto with Royal babies.

Nerdybeethoven · 16/05/2018 20:05

Oh I wonder if they'll have a cartwheeling verger at this wedding. Remember that?

NotTheMrMenAgain · 16/05/2018 20:37

JenBarber you sound lovely Smile

Chattymummyhere · 16/05/2018 20:49

Normal Saturday here apart from a family members birthday bbq. School have changed fridays menu to chicken burgers though Grin

Biblio78 · 16/05/2018 20:50

I didn't realise it was this Saturday til my son brought home a letter asking to send the kids in non uniform tomorrow to celebrate.
Mainly because we don't have a TV but I think we will probably watch the highlights online after. They both seem rather nice and like most of us have batty relations Grin

diodati · 16/05/2018 20:51

It doesn't affect me in the slightest. Except that I don't believe it's wise. Hollywood and royalty do not mix, except perhaps in fairytales. Oh, and Grace Kelly with Prince Rainier. But even that marriage wasn't terribly happy, I think.

Canteverthinkofagoodone · 16/05/2018 21:28

Also live close to Windsor. SIL works in a shop in the town, she is having to walk the 3.5miles to work because the parking spaces are costing more than she earns a day & has been told roads are closing at 6am!! My sons school has spent the last 2 weeks “counting down the days” & doing royal wedding type activities. They have to wear red, white & blue on Friday. Clivedon our dog walking spot is closed as MM is staying there so every road between there & Windsor will be an absolute nightmare. I don’t dislike the royals but dislike how much this one day is effecting the small town!

IAmMatty · 16/05/2018 21:39

It's just getting on my tits, quite frankly, and making me despair of the inequalities that we seem happy to accept in this country.

I've been dreading the blanket news coverage, what with a new baby and a wedding. All we need is Phil to pop his clogs and my tv will be off for a month.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2018 21:46

Philip schofield is on itv do it’s bbc for me. It’s the waffle that’s the worst bit. Yada yada. Blah etc. Have to mute some of it.

SnipperSnapper · 16/05/2018 21:46

Yep it’s boring me stupid

dudsville · 16/05/2018 21:47

Well I haven't noticed it generally and didn't realise it was imminent, but just read a thread on here that left me feeling very anxious for them! I suspect I'll manage.

thor86 · 16/05/2018 21:54

It isn't really other than to remind me what a stupid country we are at times, and amazing me that presumably intelligent people continue to believe this family built on inbreeding and a long history of questionable morals are somehow better than us.

The80sweregreat · 16/05/2018 21:59

Dudsville / which thread?

Chickoletta · 16/05/2018 22:04

A very good friend of ours is going to be quite prominently involved in the ceremony so we're very excited about looking out for him.

ToftyAC · 16/05/2018 22:13

Tbh, I didn’t even know when it was I’m so underwhelmed by it.

Mrsramsayscat · 16/05/2018 22:15

I'll be on holiday and supremely disinterested.

VanGoghsLeftEar · 16/05/2018 22:19

It has had no bearing on my life whatsoever.

Petrify · 17/05/2018 04:57

Who is getting married. Dont really care anyway. Not a fan x

SabineUndine · 17/05/2018 05:01

I’m going into hibernation for the weekend.

Want2bSupermum · 17/05/2018 05:26

I have to come home as my dad has surgery on Monday. DH is traveling and my sitter is going to be away. So, I'm making it into a mini vacation for the kids and some sort of torture for myself.

I was trying to book with BA because I have 850k points about to expire but they have cancelled a bunch of flights going to Manchester. BA no longer fly direct to Manchester. I had the points to rent a car for the week.

I am on my own with 3DC ages 6 and under, two of them with autism. I used points from my other credit card to book the direct united flight into Manchester. Driving to Cheshire that Saturday morning is my idea of hell. DH is worried about the seat allocation. Four couples booked either side of the row of 3 seats leaving one in the middle available. Can't wait to see their faces when they have either one of our two autistic children or a two year old in a car seat between them! The CFs booking seats like that have it coming to them!!!!

The rascal PH having to get married in a public ceremony. Totally ruined my plans to raid heathrow duty free on the way home. Who needs a spa weekend when you have Tiffany's, Cartier, F&M and hamleys for the DC.

melodybirds · 17/05/2018 06:06

Thenewaveragebear they look so delicious

2gorgeousboys · 17/05/2018 07:11

Not inconveniencing me at all. Its my birthday so we are having a family BBQ. I'll probably watch the wedding with my Mum and DSis and a glass of fizz to see the dress (and I love a bit of pomp and ceremony). The men in the family and my niece will then take over the TV later to watch the FA cup final. Looking forward to it.

Eminybob · 17/05/2018 07:14

What time is the wedding on telly? I only want to see the dress, but we are driving up to York for a night away so I’ll probably be in the car.
