Ways that the Royal wedding is affecting you.

My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

I can't watch Kay Burley when she does any royal coverage - I'm so embarrassed for her. You'd think somrone who loves her would tell her to turn the sycophancy down a notch.

I live by a route that will be full of people. Our road will be closed for a couple of days and the area will be PACKED. It happens on a few occasions a year so we are used to it. I expect this will be worse than usual!

It affected my blood pressure yesterday in Asda when I tutted at the ridiculous amount of Royal Wedding themed tat on sale like clothing, bunting and a range of Mr Kipling cakes that will all be totally worthless by about 4 pm on Saturday. Who buys all this shite, what a waste of money and resources.

But, the weather looks good so I plan on going walking in the hills and enjoy the relative solitude, like I did the day that William and Kate got married.

I will tune in to see what the dress is like as I bet she will look stunning and I don't mind Harry - i still think the Brits as a whole are a bit meh about the whole thing, but then i dont buy newspapers and havent read that much on line about the and i have never seen her in anything or know that much about her etc, so i could be wrong about how supportive people are.
I would probably fall down those stairs at the chapel. so glad its not me having to go up and down them.

I'm hoping that the roads will be quiet and I'll have a nice relaxing ride out on my horse.

DD1s school are having a royal picnic on Friday lunchtime and dressing in red, white and blue. DD2s nursery are also having a picnic and have made crowns to wear to their picnic.

Saturday Ill be at the DDs dance class so probably just see the outfits on social media.

What wedding? It won't make a slight bit of difference to me.
However we went to the RW Horse Show on Sunday & the main roads in and all the central roads had signs up to say they were going to be closed for the wedding.
We left at the end with everybody else so the roads were packed, however we just went through Dedworth and out that way = no traffic, it was solidly queued along Goswell Road/Arthur Road.I'd imagine if you're careful and consult the list of road closures there will actually be LESS traffic on the roads that are open because folk will just simply avoid Windsor unless they came in early or by train.

I'm debating whether or not to get the commemorative M&S shortbread tin for the tin, even though I'm trying not to eat biscuits. I also can't decide whether the decoration of said tin itself is slightly less royal and celebratory than the one they put out for Bill & Kate.

Or whether they should have made them commemorative ginger nuts instead of shortbread.

I spent ten minutes last night looking for ds2's blue shorts as he has to dress in red, white and blue on Friday. I'll also be 50p lighter as they have to make a donation to one of Harry and Meghans chosen charities.

That's it.

I live in Bucklebury. This wedding is not affecting us in any way at all, thank goodness!

I have to buy merchandise to send to family in America and Canada. My sister was 😱 that the t shirts are reduced in Sainsbury's. She doesn't get why the whole country hasn't got our flags out. Living in America has made her a huge royalist.

I live in the North and I don't think the wedding really impacts on us. The Royal Family all live in the South and apart from the occasional flying visit, they don't have a presence here. I think it will become even more Londoncentric with the younger Royals. Kate Middleton rarely ventures out of the South East. That's fine to be honest, except that I wish we could opt out having to pay for their lifestyles.

This sentence makes me think of Game of Thrones every time.

I was happily not bothered by some total strangers wedding until my sons school gave me seven days notice to find a costume for a bloody play they're doing based on the wedding. I don't have the costume at home because of how bizarre it is and I've had to fork out money I don't have for a play they won't let the parents see... So what's the bloody point? Angry

I've not seen any decorations or anything in the supermarkets around here, but not been looking that hard.
The kids at school did get a cheap mug with William and Kate on it but not sure if they will for this or if they are having a special picnic or whatever. they did for the other wedding.

I’m working - what time is the wedding? Will prob record it but not really that interested. DD’s school aren’t doing anything to celebrate which surprised me, as a pp said. I bought Mr Kipling cherry bakewells with a Union Jack box yesterday. Not because of the wedding though.

I'm looking forward to seeing the dress.

That is about the extent of my interest in it; otherwise I wish them as well as any other couple whom I don't know personally.

We're having a street party which has been planned by the older neighbours ( retired ) and it's got so out of control it's unreal.

The road is being blocked ( officially ) we have the local rag turning up, a "wedding ceremony" complete with Harry and Meghan masks and rules keep changing on absolutely everything.

Latest one is that adults aren't allowed to eat until after the children.

I so can't wait Grin not

DC primary school has a red, white and blue mufti day on Friday. Mufti days are a huge palaver so I'm vaguely annoyed and put out. That's about it, really.

I wonder if the Ninja nuns that K and W had at their one will be back?
One was a special agent apparently and wore trainers!

I always thought that they looked a bit bored when the Archbishop had to do his bit of the ceremony with them!

Her vile sister being on my tv is annoying me but apart from that it's not.
