Ways that the Royal wedding is affecting you.

My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

No I am saying I was wrong. I used it in my earlier post.

I'm in Abu Dhabi. They'd blocked off the roundabout outside my work so a line of black Mercedes could go to the Royal families private airport. Not certain, but I assume His Highness the Crown Prince, or perhaps Sheikh Maktoum is on their way to London for the event.

People don’t seem as bothered about these nuptials overall. I mentioned it to a royalist friend of mine and she just ranted on / not interested at all which surprised me tbh!

My dd also has to dress up for school in something red, white and blue so I will be wasting a tenner on a fuck off huge red jojo bow probably, since she doesn't own anything red.

Another one with a DS at a school on Friday where they are dressing up in red white and blue. Don't have to pay for it, but they are also doing an afternoon tea and have asked parents to donate themed cakes and biscuits. So now I have to spend Thursday baking and my son will be stuffing his face with sugar on Friday. I don't mind him having the odd treat, but they get so much sugary crap at that school already. They even had cocoa pops as a snack recently. Plus cakes for every birthday. It's got to the point where I feel I can't treat him at the weekend because he's already had so much rubbish during the week.

And for those attempting to correct the OP's use of the word affect, the wedding will be or will not be affecting you.

It will not be effecting you. It may well have an effect on you though if you watch it.

I am also a republican, so resent forcbly having to celebrate the wedding of two incredibly privileged people who I don't know.
Am also getting pissed off with constant sky ads about being able to watch it in hd.
I am nosy about the dress but the notion that all our lives revolve around a stranger's wedding is vom inducing.

It's not! Scottish cup final day here, might turn the tv on quickly to see her frock but to be honest I couldn't care less about the royal wedding.

So excited for the football though!

Sorry MissGame I see you were correcting yourself. But others have put effecting so I shall leave my post to stand.

I'm working on Saturday
It won't impact my life in any way as we will be in the Yorkshire Dales doing a D of E assessment.

I'm sort of mildly curious - I'm not into the royals but don't dislike them, and I reserve a certain distant fondness for Harry as a boy who forced himself not to cry in public at the age of 12, at his own mother's funeral. When I see his picture I wish I could hug him and say, I'm sorry that was all so shit.

So I might have a quick look at the edited footage, and I hope that they can be happy.

I will get dd to wear red, white and blue ribbons on Saturday to her dance classes - if she agrees... Other than that, no effect.

Not remotely interested in minor royals. Don't live anywhere near so won't affect me. Don't watch daytime TV or the TV news, so won't affect my TV viewing habits either.

I’ll be going out for a bike ride as the roads should be a lot quieter

Normally this kind of thing means an increase in my business since men are generally desperate to get away and the wife has said "Well sod off out then and stop ruining it for me!"

Could be a bonus for me as conversely the FA Cup final is on later the same day which generally means I'd be dead.

It brings back memories of my wedding when all my random crazy relatives I hadn’t seen for years crawled out of the woodwork expecting an invite!

I feel sorry for Megan Markle with all her family dramas. I’m not her biggest fan but it’s not her fault. You can choose your friends but you can’t choose your family unfortunately!

The ads for the wedding are a bit try hard and when I saw a certain Kay Burley is involved with the Sky coverage ( why was i surprised though?) I thought of mumsnet.

Ihope that the BBC roll out that republican guy who goes on there and has a good rant - he is a humourless soul but always makes me smile and the interviews with people that like to have a good old moan about it all and are having ' anti royal wedding' parties.

It will be having a positive effect on my life insomuch as I'm going to afternoon tea and the theatre to avoid the bowing and fawning as much as humanly possible.

As a mixed race women it means a lot to me that finally there will be some favour in the royal family. Other than that couldn’t care less. Will watch the dress reveal maybe sing a long to a few of the hymns and then switch carry on with my daily life.

It might effect the food in the freezer as if it’s a nice day I may be persuaded to crack the bbq open and have a glass of kir royale and a bit of a party. Especially as ds1 has been doing the topic of “weddings” at nursery and they have a big assembly planned for the Friday. He seems quite interested in the whole affair, so it would be nice to have a little party I think. Other than that it’s not really going to impact us much given that we live at least 4 hours away.

HECK has released a limited edition range of sweet ginger and American mustard sausages that I'm totally loving at the moment. No other effect on my life.

I'm going to watch it with DD while DH works. DD has a party to go to at 2pm but it's very close by.

I do like a wedding but sadly missed the kate and wills one as too busy preparing for my own the next day. The stupid extra bank holiday cocked everything up with items not being delivered (important stuff like chairs!) and spent most of the day wailing or totally stressed out. So i will damn well relax and enjoy this one.
