Ways that the Royal wedding is affecting you.

My son has a music exam near Windsor on Sat. We will have to leave very early and go back roads to avoid wedding traffic.
Just wondered if anyone else has the Royal wedding negatively affecting their normal life.
BTW, this is light hearted. It's not my biggest issue but is an extra concern.

I work in a shop. I'll be at work that day. There will be a phenominal amount of booze sold.

That's it, for me.

I’m embracing traditional British culture and using it as an excuse to get drunk.

My child's school has decided the best idea is to get the kids to dress up in red, white and blue in honour of the royal couple. The kids must give a donation of £1. That will not be going to any of the charities that Prince Harry and Meghan have asked people donate to instead of wedding gifts. It will be going into the schools back pocket to pay for another climbing frame for the school field. This wouldn't be so bad except that they already have a full climbing frame and NO BOOKS. My told regularly comecomes home with a photocopy of a book because there 'wasnt enough to go around'.

Also, it is my dear friends birthday, we were supposed to be going out for a meal but can't get a table anywhere. Bloody unfair.

That should read my child regularly comes home. My phone is obviously as tired and annoyed as I am.

Not affecting us in any way I don't think.

No effect on us. The weather will be stunning. DD2 is going on her first ever weekend backpack with her Scout troupe, and we'll be taking off to camp at their end destination because at last, the weather will be glorious!

I'm leaving work early on Friday to go to a royal wedding garden party at my son's school! He is 4, in yr R and has no idea who these people are but there will be cake so we are both happy!!

Also live nearby - road closures from Friday will be a nightmare and are already causing planning problems for my travelling on Saturday morning.
Still the royal family steamrollering the rights of the plebs is hardly anything new.

I have a family thing on this weekend, so I had to decline my invitation. Fortunately H&M understood and we're very sweet about it. So apart from setting a reminder for The Windsors, the wedding is having no affect on me at all.

I haven't been following the news tbh and had no idea it was this coming Saturday until I clicked on this thread. So no, the impact on me of two people who I don't know getting married is pretty minimal.

I'm not being sneery, really I'm not. I'm just not interested.

@Msgameandwatching

Are you saying the OP is wrong and should be using ‘effecting’ rather than ‘affecting’?

Perfectly1mperfect · 15/05/2018 09:34

It's affecting me because I am getting increasingly annoyed at listening to people tell me how not interested they are in it. That's fine, but they seem to know an awful lot about it, as they follow their not interested comments up with all the details they have obviously read about it ! Wink I have so far managed to not make sarcastic comments to them but it's getting harder !

I always thought when you were not interested in something, you tended not to talk about it, but I must have been mistaken. Grin

I imagine it means I am going to have a very quiet day at work. I work in retail and will be in 2-10 so between wedding and cup final I imagine it will give me a chance to catch up on paper work and stuff.

I have to sit my stumps and make a couple of crowns for the DSes at school on Friday. Other than that it's just a normal weekend for me. No plans to take any notice of it at all.

It’ll effect my bank balance as I’m throwing a champagne/prosecco tea party lol

Not affecting me at all.
I do , however, have a bit of sympathy over her dad situation as it must be adding to all the stress ( even if my opinion is that this marriage won't last, but i do hope i;m wrong) other than that, it will be just a man marrying a woman.( With a big tax bill for the security paid out of taxes to protect everyone that is going as well!)

Fluffy's cats birthday party sounds more fun to be honest.

Yep, it’s effecting me by making me generally sneery and tomorrow it will make me even more sneery and a little nauseous.

Also, school have put out a different menu for Friday which includes a ham or cheese sandwich, tortilla chips and salad. I assume they are going to have a tea party type thing but it's a pretty boring choice of food. The boys are going to be a bit miffed the usual Friday fish and chips is off the menu...

No. It will just be a normal day for us.
We'll probably go for a nice walk.
My children's schools are not doing anything either (which surprised me to be honest).

My elderly bored and depressed mum will enjoy it , so I'm pleased for her. We're going to go round with some goodies and champers and have a bit of a party.
