Irony alert: Meghan Markle’s Dad

MightyMucks · 13/05/2018 05:34

Sorry, found this hilarious. Meghan Markle’s Dad has staged some pics with the paparizzo to send out a message re his DDs wedding (ie he is going).

This is being reported by the press in a vv ‘tut tut aren’t her family awful’ manner.

Am I alone in finding this hilariously hypocritical? I remember St Diana getting caught in a car with Richard Kay from the Daily Mail and she wrote a book secretly with Daily Express journalist Andrew Morton.

Plus who had those pics front page the day they were taken? That’s right. The Daily Mail!

I am not a Meghan fan at all. But I got up this morning and looked at the papers and felt like I had gone done a rabbit hole when I saw her Das being slated for this supposedly ‘unroyal’ behaviour which is actually the most royal thing in the world ever.

I bet Meghan can't wait to get rid of her surname Grin

As for it being stressful, I cant imagine them even looking at the headlines, they'll be oblivious to what's going on. I don't suppose they are even that "stressed" about the wedding, they've got all the lackeys they could wish for, running around doing all their donkey work.

Not like in the RW where people have to worry about having the money for the hotel deposit or whether they have enough in their budget to invite a few extra guests. Walk in the park, by comparison.

daisychain01 · 14/05/2018 04:45

The very definition of Princess-pushy-Michael is "grace and favour". She loves her hand-outs.

mathanxiety · 14/05/2018 04:51

I agree with you OP.

The RF is being precious about photos despite the fact that without photos they would have been packed up and gone decades ago, and Buckingham Palace turned into nice big flats.

OssomMummy1 · 14/05/2018 05:06

Any news on daily Fail, you read it with a pinch of salt. I can't think of an profession/organisation that has not been insulted by them. NHS, nurses, junior doctors, GP, paramedics, bankers, teachers, fire and rescue, budget airline and train companies. The only people they speak positively are women who are willing to strip for their cameraman and politicians of a particular nasty party.
I always read daily mail because it is better if you know your enemy better than your friend. They always give you one side story and leave the rest to you to sort it out. That's why I call them daily Fail.

Charolais · 14/05/2018 05:44

Me and my friends have been laughing about this for the last few weeks. Black Americans love the British and the Royal Family so I'll be very very surprised if anybody on her black side does anything to embarrass her before the wedding

I have lived in the U.S. for over 45 yrs and my black family & friends have no special interest in Royal Family. They couldn’t care less.

HadronCollider · 14/05/2018 05:56

Just out of curiosity do they care more now that a mixed race woman is joining the enterprise or still don't gove a fig? charlois?

Some black commentators have been making a thing of it and I keep thinking were you interested in the RF before? Or just now?

GingerIvy · 14/05/2018 08:58

TheVanguardSix Actually, yes, and I have family that are from there and live there. Why do you ask?

cafetea · 14/05/2018 09:00

Aren't most celeb and royal photos staged? He just got paid for this rather than it getting his brand in the media.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 14/05/2018 09:16

All the people getting all "offended" about the Mexico comment clearly know nothing about either geography, Mexico or California.

There are part of Mexico on the border between California and Mexico that attract a lot of down at heel Americans in retirement because it is much cheaper for them to live there than back home.

Many of these areas - such as the one Meghan's dad lives in - are run down and extremely dangerous (if you check the local Facebook group for his area Rosarito Beach it's full of posts about scammers, missing persons, and people being chased by fake police cars, a common occurrence in Mexico where someone with flashing lights will try to pull you over at night and then mug you at gunpoint).

So what the PP said about the fact Meghan's dad living there suggests he's not well off is spot on - if he had a decent income he'd still be living in California - and there's no need to get all on your high horse about it.

GingerIvy · 14/05/2018 09:19

Actually you don't get to decide whether or not someone is offended by the Mexico comment. As someone who is actually quite familiar with it, I felt it was not a very nice comment to assume that the only reason anyone would live in Mexico is if they didn't have much money.

GingerIvy · 14/05/2018 09:20

And they didn't specify that particular area. They said Mexico. Blanket statement, stupid statement to make. Ill informed and based on stereotypes.

SusannahL · 14/05/2018 09:33

For a start, it wasn't the Daily Mail, but the Mail on Sunday.

They were quite rightly exposing Mr. Markle for having been complicit in some deliberately staged fake photos.

The photographer sold them as a 'scoop' to newspapers around the world for a considerable sum, but it quickly became apparent that they were too good to be true and staged.

It's not known for sure if Mr. Markle received any money for it, but it's hard to see what his motive would be if he wasn't.

It is completely ironic isn't it, considering the lengths the Palace has gone to, to protect the Markle parents from media scrutiny.

It seems they are perfectly able to arrange their own publicity. Didn't Meghan's mother appear on Oprah's show?

You couldn't make it up! This wedding is starting to get interesting!!

MightyMucks · 14/05/2018 09:54

Oh ffs susannah, you say that like it’s come as a huge shock. About 90% it pap pictures are staged. Harry’s mother was constantly at it tipping the press off to her whereabouts and posing staged photos right up to the week she died. The Beckhams even had a pet paparazzo Jason Fraser that they used to pose for supposed pap pics and split the cost.

It’s not like he’s doing anything particularly shocking or unusual.

OP posts:
MightyMucks · 14/05/2018 10:04

hadron, there’s much more to it than that.

She is an intelligent woman who has written several history books and worked as a designer. There is absolutely no way she wore that brooch without knowledge of what it was, what it meant and the message she was sending out.

OP posts:
MightyMucks · 14/05/2018 10:14

Well the Queen puts her faith in her, she is one of her advisers and trusted people. The Princes speak highly of her and she falls into line with Royal protocol.

None of that is true. It’s all Bolland spin and you’ve fallen for it.

The Queen still disapproves of Camilla. Even when she gave a speech at her wedding reception the Queen didn’t mention Camilla by name once.

William and Harry have a strained and distant relationship with their father and hardly any at all with Camilla. When they were younger and unmarried they used to leave and enter Clarence House by the back door to avoid them. And when Charles’ office planted stories suggesting a good relationship between them they complained, particularly William, because the stories were made up.

I think MM dad needed the money, why else would he do it?

LanguidLobster · 14/05/2018 10:47

I'm not entirely sure that this wasn't a set up on the dad's request to poke fun at the media (this is a man who reportedly ate chocolate mousse out of a nappy in front of his son's friends pretending it was poo in order to deter them from his house) or that MM wasn't aware of it beforehand. He appears to love her. Who knows, press jinx make me roll my eyes a little

LanguidLobster · 14/05/2018 10:48

I really don't think he's a dense hillbilly just out for a quick buck at the expense of his near ones however

RoseWhiteTips · 14/05/2018 10:49

This stuff is cringeworthy and the RF are crazy to be embroiled in this mess. Disaster is written all over it.

LaurieMarlow · 14/05/2018 10:53

Is Princess Michael racist? I know there was the brooch thing but I genuinely believe she was clueless about it's implications, and I don't think she's very bright in general.

Oh please, she knew exactly what she was doing, how could she not? Of all the hundreds of brooches she owns, she just happened to choose that one? I don't think so.

No one is that dense and she has access to many advisors if she hadn't been sure.

perroy · 14/05/2018 11:14

It is just a sad situation anyway you look at it.

but it does not speak for a happy and succesful marriage

SusannahL · 14/05/2018 11:28

Just how much does Harry know about this family he is marrying into? The father has always been portrayed as a recluse, yet here he is participating in this photo scam. All very strange.

I also think it's really strange that Harry hasn't met Meghan's father yet. Surely as the man is supposedly going to be walking his daughter down the aisle, he should have been here months ago, learning about Royal protocol etc.

He is after all, a key player in the Wedding of the year.

What he has insured though is that on Saturday, all eyes will be on him to see just what kind of man would embarrass his daughter like this.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 14/05/2018 11:31

Re Princess Michael - her father was a high ranking SS officer under Hitler www.theguardian.com/theguardian/2014/apr/16/princess-michael-father-nazi-ss-officer

And last month's Vanity Fair had an article by an ex of her daughter's revealing she used to have two black sheep called Venus and Serena.

So....

Shadow666 · 14/05/2018 11:32

Hi, I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my mexico comment. I really didn't mean to suggest that mexico is some kindbof shit-hole country full of bad hombres. I really just meant that he was living modestly in a country that had a fairly low cost of living, which implies he isn't well off. I think my comment came across poorly, so I hope we can move on from it.

LanguidLobster · 14/05/2018 11:32

Actually I'm fed up of the whole lot of them now, and the press.
