To think cleaner could have flushed the loo?

Is this an unreasonable expectation? Ds 7 had done a poo without me realising and not flushed. Isn't that just a given when you're cleaning the bathroom?

Thanks for so many varied and interesting responses.
Thought I'd pop back to clear a few things up (no pun intended)

  • of course I remind ds to flush, repeatedly. The poo could also have been left by my 3 yo I realise, and missed by me - does that make it less or more acceptable?
  • in no way was the turd left there as any kind of mark of disrespect
  • I'm not going to go into personal circumstances but it is pure fantasy to assume this is my only worry, that I'm a social climber etc etc - I'm a fairly hard pressed full time lone wohp who earns about the same as the cleaner per hour
  • I am sorry that some posters have been treated badly by arse holes when they have done difficult jobs like cleaning. I try particularly hard not to be an arse hole and I am sorry if my thread came across this way - I genuinely wasn't angry with the cleaner, just wondering if if got my expectations wrong.

Final thought : was it actually rude of her not to flush it, because then I was alerted to an embarrassing mistake?!

I suppose you could spin it round so it's her fault yes. Although not body in their right mind would buy that bullshit

'Nobody'

Oh give over OP. Sack the cleaner. You clearly don’t like her and are looking for any excuse. Let her find someone else to work for that is a better employer.

PunkrockerGirl59 · 12/05/2018 22:58

Bloody hell OP. The general consensus is that no, the cleaner should not be expected to be faced with your family's unflushed shit. But because you're all too busy to spend the entire second it takes to flush the toilet then the cleaner is being entirely unreasonable. If you don't like her get rid of her. Maybe before you take on new one teach your children to flush the toilet and learn some respect

RoseWhiteTips · 12/05/2018 23:51

Your child should be taught basic hygiene. Your cleaner if she has any sense will find a better position.
