To think cleaner could have flushed the loo?

Is this an unreasonable expectation? Ds 7 had done a poo without me realising and not flushed. Isn't that just a given when you're cleaning the bathroom?

OP posts:
DanglyEarOrnaments · 10/05/2018 11:52

But why?

Even though I do agree that £30 is a small amount to pay for a cleaning service and is likely to be her 'minimum' charge, I think that's irrelevant, (unless I'm really missing something here).

Why does forgetting to flush the loo (when it wasn't your own 'deposit' so you may not have noticed) mean you don't value your cleaner?

mzcracker · 10/05/2018 12:17

Bloody hell! The unflushed shit thread is still going?
So who flushed it in the end? What was the outcome? Is it still floating forlorn, wondering who's gonna do the honours?

Smeddum · 10/05/2018 12:22

Why does forgetting to flush the loo (when it wasn't your own 'deposit' so you may not have noticed) mean you don't value your cleaner?

It doesn’t. Getting uppity when said cleaner decides not to clean the toilet because it’s got shit in it is.

RoseWhiteTips · 10/05/2018 12:25

Who would be a cleaner if that is the sort of thing they are expected to deal with? Ugh

mimibunz · 10/05/2018 12:29

Ugh, children are gross.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 12:42

@mzcracker I assume said turd has moved out by now. Begun his own family of little turds and has his very own toilet where he is free from judgement ....
@smeddum your pissing into the wind trying to get your point across to the upper class entitled folk who can't understand this

Smeddum · 10/05/2018 12:45

your pissing into the wind trying to get your point across to the upper class entitled folk who can't understand this

Aye I know. I doubt they’re actually upper class though, people who are actually upper class and upper middle class (not just have money) tend to be very respectful of people (in my experience anyway). It’s social climbers who aren’t Wink

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 12:49

Oh no they will be what I like to call the Mr and Mrs buckets..... Grin

TenancyTroublesAgain · 10/05/2018 12:49

I'm a cleaner in a college/uni and a few of the toilets don't flush properly and are always blocked with shit. It's disgusting. And I have to clean it all for £18 a day.
Surprised that people don't expect the cleaner to flush the toilet! Think I need a new job. Confused

Smeddum · 10/05/2018 12:50

@MissReginaPhilange ahahaha yes!

mzcracker · 10/05/2018 13:04

I wouldn't expect a cleaner to flush a shit, if expect anyone to flush a rogue shit.
If she didn't flush it I'd assume she didn't see it or perhaps the sneaky blighter came back up the u-bend or the child gave it a bit of a weak flush.
My dd finds the push buttons a bit tricky on ours, it's not a flush handle.
I don't fully understand the fuss.
Just flush and move on? Like normal people.

mzcracker · 10/05/2018 13:04

I'd*

RoseWhiteTips · 10/05/2018 13:09

Children are indeed gross. But they can be taught not to be.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 13:10

Oh god you made me chuckle...thoughts of a ninja poo creeping up the ubend has finished me off........

UrgentScurryfunge · 10/05/2018 13:12

My 5 & 7 year olds frequently forget and are regularly sent back to flush. Years of frequent nagging has not yet taken effect...

Indeed my 5 year old recently walked off from the downstairs toilet... no flush. I called him and asked him to flush the toilet then heard a distant flush from upstairs. Face palm. He was summoned back down to deal with the original toilet and told that you have to flush the actual toilet you used Confused

Sometimes children forget. Some toilets just don't flush effectively. I don't see the great issue in pulling the handle to flush a toilet. It's not like the cleaner has been asked to deal with something like a toilet training failiure where direct handling is necessary.

FullOfJellyBeans · 10/05/2018 13:30

lol why is everyone so judgemental. 7 year old forgot to flush poo? It happens. Cleaner didn't want to deal with it? It happens.

AjasLipstick · 10/05/2018 13:35

Jelly because OP got on her high horse about it!

Her child didn't flush. Not completely an awful thing...but to hear OP rant about how cleaner gets 30 pounds (for 90 minutes!) is awful.

BustopherJones · 10/05/2018 14:08

I’m working class. My mum was a cleaner, as was my granny. I have done plenty of toileting in care jobs. I don’t have a cleaner, and would actually feel a bit uncomfortable about someone else doing my cleaning if I’m honest. I’m not trying to be judgmental about others, it’s just how I feel about it for myself.

I just don’t think that a child forgetting to flush is an act of disrespect. I don’t think an adult forgetting to check is either. A child not being 100% at these things is just childhood, not a reflection of crap parents.

I’d just flush and clean the loo. There’s no difference in a loo that’s been flushed 30 mins or 30 secs ago. It’s also no problem if a cleaner forgets to clean the loo. It’s a bit pathetic to be annoyed at cleaning your own loo, as you may need to do it anyway before her next day. But it’s a bit petty to make a point of not cleaning it because a child forgets to flush, or it doesn’t work once. Mainly because you still have to clean the rest of the bathroom and who wants to have a turd for company while you do that?

The overreaction of posters who act like they’ve never seen a poo in their life is precious and ridiculous.

TheNoodlesIncident · 10/05/2018 14:17

It's not routine, it's not deliberate, it's just life

^^This

I really seriously doubt either OP or her son actually intended to be disrespectful to the cleaner.

If I'm using public toilets - especially like in soft play places and the like - there are often toilets left unflushed. It's not just a stray water bourbon that gives it away, but the rest of lavatory contents. I just flush it so it's not grotty for the next person and use another cubicle.

DSis is a cleaner and dear god, the stories of what some skanky people will leave for the cleaner to deal with... Shock

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 14:23

Noodles I was a housekeeping manager In a hotel I've seen real life shit issues....and this is most definitely not one of them Smile

cloudtree · 10/05/2018 14:24

This thread is bonkers

BustopherJones · 10/05/2018 14:35

Ooh, it’s proper bonkers.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 10/05/2018 17:22

Whether the shit should have been there or not is irrelevant. The cleaner could have just flushed it and I’m baffled she didn’t unless she didn’t actually clean the toilet. But the biggest problem seems to me, is the op attitude towards it being her job etc Comes across badly.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 10/05/2018 17:31

UrgentScurryfunge That’s actually funny lol flushing the wrong toilet, what was he thinking 😂

DanglyEarOrnaments · 10/05/2018 19:46

I still don't get it, surely the person nearest who sees it first flushes it. In this case that would be the cleaner. If it was the op then she'd have done it. Just flush the bugger and get on ...

As I said before I am a cleaner for 21 years now so not uppity entitled etc
