To wish the EU would throw us a bone so we can cancel Brexit

They don't want us to leave. We don't want to leave. So what could Macron'n'Merkel offer us so we can say "go on, we'll stay together for the sake of the kids".

Absolutely GhostofFrankGrimes.

It's like trying to get rid of an itchy finger by cutting off your arm.

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:47

Ghost: the housing crises has become acute do to the mass influx of new arrivals, or don't you get supply and demand?

user1486062886 · 09/05/2018 11:48

So if the government or the EU want to stop Brexit and get the people back inside, why don’t they announce a 5 year pause on FOM for jobs, you need to have a good first to come here, or the government say they will now work a stricter immigration policy with people monitored in and out etc, just an idea, unless people have other solutions

user1486062886 · 09/05/2018 11:50

Back inside, and job first, should reread what I type

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 11:50

The housing crisis has happened because wages couldn’t keep up with cost. Also the rise of landlords gobbling up property. In certain cities derelict houses are left bordered up. Stop blaming foreigners for Britain’s problems.

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:50

there's other factors than immigration though, for example, most people don't want the EU interfering with our laws and customs etc..plus all the anti-free trade stuff

anyway, we are a sovereign nation and should be 100% in charge of our own borders

Justanotherlurker · 09/05/2018 11:51

The government can control immigration more tightly if it chose. It didn’t need to brexit.

They could, but its revisionist to say that it would have been accepted by all the people who like to point this fact out.

Lweji · 09/05/2018 11:51

So if the government or the EU want to stop Brexit

The EU can't stop Brexit.

And the UK Government decided to act on a non-binding referendum.

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:51

have you never studied supply and demand though, Ghost, it's quite simple

A4710Rider · 09/05/2018 11:52

Ghost, are you aware of how quickly and by how much the UK's population has grown over the last decade?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 11:52

You can be asked to leave if unemployed for 3 months. Stopping FOM will lead to labour shortages. The fact I have to point these basics out shows why the referendum should never of happened

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:52

and of course both major parties supported implementing brexit in last yrs election

Justanotherlurker · 09/05/2018 11:53

The housing crisis has happened because wages couldn’t keep up with cost.

Only if you want to address one simplistic point it was yes.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 11:54

People come here to work and study. Unemployment is low so let’s not pretend there are millions of people kicking round doing nothing. Supply is meeting demand. Only 6% of land is built on!

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:54

one can't be stopped from coming in the first place, ie. no border control

no border control = not a sovereing nation

I take it you have 100's of copies of keys to your front door and just hand them out willy nilly

user1486062886 · 09/05/2018 11:56

GhostofFrankGrimes So you can honestly say with your hand on your heart that by letting in over 250,000 people a year + child births has not put pressure on housing, even an clever person like you can see that, we weren’t building enough houses before ( planning and purchasing of land etc) how is letting in 200-300,000 people going to help that ? And the British people that have left can return at any time

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 11:56

oh sure, I@ll just go and build myself a random house on the other 94% then shall I....yeah right

A4710Rider · 09/05/2018 11:57

Stopping FOM will lead to labour shortages

Yup, you will have to prove that statement I'm afraid.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 11:59

Sovereignty was never lost British government admit this.

Issue is not supply it is affordability

Once again, all immigration can be controlled ask your government to do this.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 12:00

Google labour shortages in crop picking. There was a BBC item on this.

user1486062886 · 09/05/2018 12:00

Lweji The EU can’t stop it, but maybe, if they wanted to they could do something to appeal to the people who want to leave, it only takes a few to change their mind, but they never showed that they would like us to stay during and before the referendum

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 12:00

omg - we won't be able to exploit desperate East Europeans and unskilled Brits any longer! fancy that, what will the 'left wing' middle classes do now....

Felicity556 · 09/05/2018 12:01

Ghost :
govts were asked to control immigration, they ignored it and ended up with Brexit!

Lweji · 09/05/2018 12:02

they never showed that they would like us to stay during and before the referendum

What?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/05/2018 12:02

Given that Brexit will make the country poorer how do you expect wages to rise?
