They don't want us to leave. We don't want to leave. So what could Macron'n'Merkel offer us so we can say "go on, we'll stay together for the sake of the kids".

@Felicity556 because there’s a difference between wanting controls on immigration and wanting them all to go home.

Also your comments about Ireland/NI were extremely offensive.

Wouldn't it be fucking fabulous if everyone who wanted to leave the UK just did that, like got their little insular self important selves on a plane and left the EU and never came back?
And the rest of us could just live happily ever after in the UK in the EU!

A4710Rider · 08/05/2018 17:26

And the rest of us could just live happily ever after in the UK in the EU

How about those who want to remain in the EUssr just up sticks and go in live in mainland Europe and leave the rest of us alone?

Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 17:26

Iron man@
if you love the EU that much, why not move to Romania or Slovenia? I hear the wages and benefits are good there...

Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 17:27

A471: lol, you beat me to it!

Luisa27 · 08/05/2018 17:29

Breaking News...,the Government’s plans to insert a fixed date to leave the EU has been defeated in the Upper House Of Parliament

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 17:30

Good news.

Allreadygone · 08/05/2018 17:31

[ live in mainland Europe and leave the rest of us alone?]
Like 'Johnny no mates'!

IronMansIronButt · 08/05/2018 17:31

If you hate the EU so much, why don't you move to Mongolia? Or Australia? Wouldn't have you, hey?

A4710Rider · 08/05/2018 17:32

The House of Parliament needs a wake up call. It needs to know that it's not really needed and it needs to know that it should deliver the democratic will of the people.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 17:32

Oh dear. Felicity and I are on the smeddum naughty step...

Riddle me this - if the eu is as benevolent as you think it is then why isn’t it staying out of politics and simply insisting the uk must hard Brexit?

Why is it instead deliberately exploiting old wounds (northern Ireland) and stoking confusion over customs agreements?

The truth is that the eu is like any other empire in human history. It doggedly protects itself from dissolution. It interferes in the politics of its neighbours. It makes mischief.

The recent behaviour of the eu only vindicates the leave position

A4710Rider · 08/05/2018 17:33

If you hate the EU so much, why don't you move to Mongolia? Or Australia? Wouldn't have you, hey

We won the Referendum, the losers should have to leave. I wouldn't score enough points to get access to Australia, how I wish we could have their system in the UK - the EU wouldn't allow it though.

TomRavenscroft · 08/05/2018 17:34

Why is it instead deliberately exploiting old wounds (northern Ireland)

It is only the UK that is causing the northern Ireland problem, by dint of being determined to press on with Brexit.

The EU is just pointing out the parameters of what is and isn't possible for the UK under the terms of the agreement.

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 17:34

Does anyone really think that “well if you don’t like it you can leave” is in any way a way to win their argument?

It’s infantile and ridiculous. You have fuck all right to tell me to leave my own country, just as I wouldn’t tell you to leave your own country. Or my country either.

A4710Rider · 08/05/2018 17:35

well if you don’t like it you can leave” is in any way a way to win their argument

Ask the Remainer who started in.

The replies were just pointing out the utter stupidness of the post.....

Luisa27 · 08/05/2018 17:36

Well said @Smeddum

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 17:36

Why is it instead deliberately exploiting old wounds (northern Ireland) and stoking confusion over customs agreements?

The EU and Ireland support the GFA. Its the Brexiteers who fucked everything up. In fairness to Brexiteers though their ignorance of the wider issues, likely ensured they didn't give NI a second thought when voting.

It doggedly protects itself from dissolution. It interferes in the politics of its neighbours. It makes mischief.

Sounds like the British Empire TBH.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/05/2018 17:36

That isn't telling you anything.

IronMansIronButt · 08/05/2018 17:36

Does anyone really think that “well if you don’t like it you can leave” is in any way a way to win their argument?

Aren't we well past the point of winning arguments? Somehow, the losers one. It's a fucked up post Trump world lads.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 08/05/2018 17:37

If I didn't like something I'd do my best to not be part of that thing.

Buteo · 08/05/2018 17:37

Riddle me this - if the eu is as benevolent as you think it is then why isn’t it staying out of politics and simply insisting the uk must hard Brexit?

Because Ireland and the EU seek to uphold the GFA?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 17:38

Brexiteers telling remainers to leave shows they have no intention of trying to unify the country. Clearly they thrive on division and sowing hate.

IronMansIronButt · 08/05/2018 17:38

Riddle me this - if the eu is as benevolent as you think it is then why isn’t it staying out of politics and simply insisting the uk must hard Brexit

LOL, you're too funny! Stay out of compulsory negotiations? How would that work exactly? Pointing out that you need an actual plan of HOW you are going to leave and what you plan to do with the NI border is hardly meddling.

You don't understand the very basics of how any of this works. Who let you people vote?

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 17:40

No - Ireland and the eu are seeking to corner the uk and weaken our negotiating hand

This is all about money or, more specifically, how much money the eu can extract from us going forward.

The eu are not a disinterested player here - they are the opposition
