They don't want us to leave. We don't want to leave. So what could Macron'n'Merkel offer us so we can say "go on, we'll stay together for the sake of the kids".

Allreadygone Is this the same type of “experts” that gives a vote to the public and as we can see now, have not done any previous work or considered the implications of a leave vote ?

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 16:39

I appreciate that scotland voted to remain in but that still leaves 45 per cent of voters who chose to leave! I think I worked that out as 2 million of us

You could apply that to the Indy ref too though.

user I don’t understand the issues because nobody actually specifies what they are besides hating immigrants. Which isn’t a reason, it’s bigotry.

Luisa27 · 08/05/2018 16:40

It’s like a whole other world....

I’m really really shocked - and no, I’m not joking

Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 16:40

most of the current MP's /govt are Remainers,, that's why it's a problem - just need a good clear out and get some solid leaders in cabinet,
please can we get rid of that little quisling Greg Clarke!

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 08/05/2018 16:41

Actually, thinking that free movement of people isn’t the best idea really isn’t the same as disliking immigrants and therefore bigotry.

It just means there are limits to what is sensible.

Free movement of people in the last ten years or so is what pushed many U.K. people over the edge in terms of their opinion of the EU

RhurbabAndCustard · 08/05/2018 16:41

I voted to leave. The voters elected to leave. The ones that didn't vote for have a say now. Wish the lords and the remainders would just listen to the public and get on with it now. We can't go overturning votes because it wasn't what people wanted. That's what voting is about. I have family and friends who didn't vote on the issue who are now moaning. I say next time go out and make the effort to vote and maybe your opinions will count.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 16:41

Disagree with smeddum and you are a bigot

Agree with her and you are a fool

RhurbabAndCustard · 08/05/2018 16:41
Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 16:42

smed: it's not a hatered of immigrants it's just that there are too many of them

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 16:43

@Heyduggeesflipflop hating immigrants is bigotry.

And I think you’re in no position whatsoever to define what is foolish.

Every leave voter on this thread cannot give actual reasons for leaving beyond hating immigrants. How is that not bigotry?

user1486062886 · 08/05/2018 16:43

Smeddum Why must it be people Hate immigrants? Perhaps they don’t like the governing bodies that force immigration on people that don’t want or like it.

jugglingsatsumas · 08/05/2018 16:44

Free movement of people in the last ten years or so is what pushed many U.K. people over the edge in terms of their opinion of the EU So why are you blaming the EU and not our government who decided not to impose limits?

corcaithecat · 08/05/2018 16:45

The sooner I can get Irish citizenship, the better. I haven't met a single leaver that has more than 2 brain cells. Sad

jugglingsatsumas · 08/05/2018 16:45

that sort of thing, I think they wanted something a bit more precise! Grin

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 16:46

@user1486062886 wanting limits on free movement isn’t the same, you’re right.

That’s not what the noisiest posters on this thread have been saying though.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 08/05/2018 16:48

smeddum because practically they couldn’t. They couldn’t monitor who was here and didn’t have a job etc.

My polish friend told me that her brother was here, working and sending benefits home. It boiled her piss and she is polish.

DNAnotGRA · 08/05/2018 16:49

Speak for yourself not for the 17.4 million people who voted to leave.

user1486062886 · 08/05/2018 16:49

jugglingsatsumas In that period we have had 2/3 different governments and nothing has changed, I think the people cannot do anything about the numbers only the government can, they aren’t listening to people genuine concerns, so hence the leave vote, I presume they think numbers will be limited

TomRavenscroft · 08/05/2018 16:50

Calledyou, other EU countries are capable of managing situations like this and sending people packing if they don't meet requirements. So why isn't the UK? Your Polish friend might like to go and boil her piss about the incompetents in UK administration rather than the EU.

Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 16:50

jugglin:

EU anti-discrimination laws prevent the UK from keeping out EU immigrants, not hiring them, etc..

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 16:53

If people feel that certain areas are becoming overwhelmed by a large amount of immigrants, why aren’t they angry with the UK government for failing to put measures in place to ensure that areas with a large population have the infrastructure to be able to cope?

Felicity556 · 08/05/2018 16:53

the UK govts. havent controlled it because they haven't wanted to - they finally realised the people did want this though when it was too late, ie. 24th June 2016 - aka Independence Day - or Nigel's Day as it will eventually go down in history as!

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 16:53

@Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow I disagree with being able to send benefits out of the country. That’s not right. But the actions of a few immoral immigrants shouldn’t colour opinion of all of them.

They don’t though? The Germans need the labour so the government has done nothing. Local Germans are furious though which is why Merckel is disliked.

It has suited our government too but it’s had a huge impact on people, and has suppressed wages at the lower levels.

It is shite on all levels. I do not understand this lauding of cheap labour to talented people from the likes of Poland. They all do jobs beneath them and there is a lack of workforce in their own workforce now.

My Polish friend has a number of qualifications but cleans houses. The cleaners at my work are all Polish. They clean the shitters for the minimum wage whilst we walk past them drinking coffee lauding the wonderful EU.

Free movement as a concept worked when the EEC was first established. In the last fifteen years it has helped capitalist governments and fuels resentment, inequality and wage suppression.

So fucking glad we are out
