To wish the EU would throw us a bone so we can cancel Brexit

Crikeyisunderused · 08/05/2018 07:36

They don't want us to leave. We don't want to leave. So what could Macron'n'Merkel offer us so we can say "go on, we'll stay together for the sake of the kids".

Luisa, that's me to a tee! in a parallel universe

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 14:15

Makes you wonder what he stands for

You could ask the same question of May -formerly the remainer.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:17

Ghost of - don’t worry about may - we have her surrounded

Talk me through that labour Brexit policy again...

Oh yes - waiting to see which way the chips fall.

A kinder, gentler politics

jugglingsatsumas · 08/05/2018 14:19

I'd say Ireland is roughly a 50/50 when it comes to a ref on EU

The majority of England and Northern Ireland voted to leave

Just under a majority of Scotland voted to leave.

There's very little point in arguing with people who have no problem making up their own alternative facts lies.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:20

Yes but but ... little snoring (population 250) votes to remain so the referendum MUST be void!

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:21

makes it look Like you have run out of argument

Says the poster that hasn’t posted one coherent answer about why leaving is the right choice?

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:22

No smeddum - you mean I don’t agree with you

If it makes you feel any better your point of view is vacuous and based upon smug middle class arrogance

I’m afraid you will need to find a new cash cow in a years time

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 14:23

Talk me through that labour Brexit policy again..

I've told you countless times that I do not support Brexit under any party.

Why don't you address the points I've made about

  • sovereignty not being lost
  • Labour shortages
  • Controlling borders
  • The impact assessment report.

Try it without using debunked leaver slogans.

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:24

@Heyduggeesflipflop you haven’t answered why though. It’s not that I disagree, it’s that you just shout the same thing over and over about wanting to be free of Brussels without actually explaining why. Other than you don’t like people from other countries.

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:25

Haha middle class Londoner is what you pegged me as? Fuck me. I’m a Scottish working class woman. You could not have been more wrong if you tried!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 14:25

If you've voted Brexit to help the working classes (even though you've admitted you dont care how much Brexit costs) then you are going to be sorely disappointed.

Allreadygone · 08/05/2018 14:27

Are you sure the Scots, Welsh, parts of the Island of Ireland and the Cornish (among others) want “a sovereign seat of power in London”?
To an extent 'sovereignty' goes out the window since most markets are global. What you buy is largely dictated by people other than 'good old British' companies, many of whom prefer to use labour in cheaper countries. The British Bulldog died along with the Empire many years ago.

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:27

Absolutely spot on. I suspect this bravado will disappear pretty rapidly once reality bites.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:28

Smeddum

Keep up - imagine I am talking very... slowly...

Not wanting to be ruled from Brussels is reason enough. If I told you you and your next door neighbour were going to be put together and considered one family unit from now on - despite a universal vote in both households to the contrary - how would you feel about that?

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:30

Already gone

I don’t care if the Scots want to leave. I wished they had of done. Ditto Ireland

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:30

That’s not even remotely the same. It’s ridiculous. Because anyone who chose to in the north of England, Wales, Cornwall, NI or Scotland could make the same argument about Westminster.

I don’t imagine you talking very slowly. I do imagine you thinking very, very slowly indeed. With a bit of a burning smell.

jugglingsatsumas · 08/05/2018 14:31

Brandnewhouse - I too would like to know what would be considered a Brexit failure. This idea that it's worth it whatever the cost, is definitely NOT what was sold by the Leave campagin pre-referendum and it seems pretty arrogant to say now that it was and that everyone who voted Leave is happy enough for the economy to go to hell as long as we leave.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 14:31

Not wanting to be ruled from Brussels is reason enough

Doesn't matter how many times you say it - its still bollocks.

If I told you you and your next door neighbour were going to be put together and considered one family unit from now on - despite a universal vote in both households to the contrary - how would you feel about that?

Shit analogy. Both households look after their own property and do as they please. Together they decide to buy a third property and work jointly to maintain it. HTH.

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:32

I don’t care if the Scots want to leave. I wished they had of done. Ditto Ireland

Had. Not “had of done”.

And be careful what you wish for, because it might yet happen. And then your beloved Westminster really would be fucked!

jugglingsatsumas · 08/05/2018 14:32

I don’t care if the Scots want to leave. I wished they had of done. Ditto Ireland

Eh?

Smeddum · 08/05/2018 14:33

@jugglingsatsumas heyduggee hates everyone.

Elendon · 08/05/2018 14:33

Yes but but ... little snoring (population 250) votes to remain so the referendum MUST be void!

You have been disingenuous throughout this thread Heyduggeesflipflop

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/05/2018 14:33

I don’t care if the Scots want to leave. I wished they had of done. Ditto Ireland

ah. so Brexit is to appease a small band of Little Englanders. I'd love to see a united Ireland but without the DUP your beloved Tories will collapse.

Allreadygone · 08/05/2018 14:33

Britain is NOT ruled from Brussels.
Brussels may have suggested some rules but UK Parliament voted for and is responsible for enforcing any rules originating from Brussels.

Heyduggeesflipflop · 08/05/2018 14:34

Smeddum

I hope your lot do eventually leave the union (assuming they can afford it)

Just think - then you would get your own Scottish internet social media forum to whine in!
