Is this weird behaviour on the underground?

I promise I’ve not lead a sheltered life Grin. I don’t live in London but have been there numerous times and always use the underground.

Today a girl stood next to me and started swinging around the pole (like a pole dancer) and then stopped and started doing squats and lunges whilst holding the pole.

I’ve used to get public transport every day when I lived in LA so I have seen some sights. But that’s odd right?

On my rare visits to London I absolutely and completely hate the tube. It is like a microcosm of the very worst of banal human behaviour.

I once saw a very smartly dressed man put his palm on the head and face of a small boy who was about to disembark. He pushed the boy back so he could get out the tube first. No one said anything at all. I yelped and stood there opening and closing my mouth while the boy’s Granny looked upset.

I also once saw a man spit trying to look all cool. The gob landed on the foot of a sleeping woman. The man tried to style it out while looking around to see if anyone had seen it. I very much enjoyed staring him out while my now dh kept whispering “stop looking at people!”

I lived in London till I was 21, went to school on two tube lines every day from ages 5 and nothing surprised me.
When I moved to South Wales I realised how indifferent I was to some really bizarre behaviour after years of tube-travelling with some strange LondonersGrin

Lovelise · 05/05/2018 21:22

I got on the tube once and there was a man passed out in a pool of his own vomit. People were just stepping over him like an object, not an actual human.

He was hauled off by the police in the end.

I absolutely loathe the tube.

MarthaArthur · 05/05/2018 21:23

Ah the victoria line that explains it op. In that case yabu thats normal there Grin i love watching mad things in london.

Isleepinahedgefund · 05/05/2018 21:23

I’d go for potential pickpocket gang too -she behaves oddly while the others dip into whatever bags they can whilst your distracted,. I’ve never seen Pole dancing on the tube. Then again I’m usually on the commute with my face in someone’s armpit as the train is so rammed!

Mooey89 · 05/05/2018 21:27

I do squats and lunges at work all the time Blush

But even I wouldn’t do it on the tube with people who don’t know me

NotTakenUsername · 05/05/2018 21:28

Shock OP went dark!!!

NigellasGuest · 05/05/2018 21:28

That should NEVER happen between Warren Street and Green Park. It's only supposed to happen between Hyde Park Corner and Gloucester Road.

ManifestingPowerhouse · 05/05/2018 21:32

There was a thread a few months ago about a Mum hula hooping on the school run and the OP was ripped to pieces for being a bitch Smile

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2018 21:33

Someone didn’t read their tube map correctly nigella

Fortheloveofbutter · 05/05/2018 21:33

OP went dark!!!

Confused I did?

@NotTakenUsername

Who made you the thread police? Stop acting like a wannabe MNHQ bod.

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2018 21:33

Did you eat knobs of butter in your youth op?

Isleepinahedgefund · 05/05/2018 21:34

How on earth do you hula hoop on the school run?! I’m pretty good with a hula hoop and now quite tempted to try it.

Passmethecrisps · 05/05/2018 21:35

Apparently she got out her car and hula hopped on the pavement outside the school.

Op wondered if this was a bit attention seeking and was handed her arse on a hula hoop

ManifestingPowerhouse · 05/05/2018 21:35

It was her business I think (hula hoop fitness) so potentially advertising but the OP was completely flamed as the woman wasn't being odd or attention seeking Confused

thisparachuteisanapsack · 05/05/2018 21:36

Zzz. Pretty sure unless you live under a rock that you know this isn't normal behaviour and isn't normal underground behaviour. You just wanted to make a thread on it.

OneStepSideways · 05/05/2018 21:37

Pole exercise classes are very popular at the moment. Maybe she was on her way to a class and was warming up! I would have smiled but not thought much of it, like when I see people practicing yoga in public.

MarthaArthur · 05/05/2018 21:38

Woah wtf is up with people on here tonight?! Literally grouches on every thread. If people disnt post stuff like this mumsnet would be very boring nappy advice.

Iflyaway · 05/05/2018 21:39

Oh, do clutch your pearls OP.....

None of your business.

Sad you have to put an OP about someone doing their own thing while going about your daily life.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 05/05/2018 21:40

It's absolutely mundane behaviour in London. 😉

Sparklesocks · 05/05/2018 21:43

London is a huge city with massive amounts of people getting the tube everyday...probability wise you’re bound to get a few strange incidents here and there!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 05/05/2018 21:43

@Mooey89 - please tell me you work somewhere public facing like the British Museum as a curator or even better imagine lying in bed and the Dr doing the ward rounds is bopping up and down while discussing your notes Grin

bonnyshide · 05/05/2018 21:43

Not sure why so many bitchy comments on this thread? It really has ruined it, unfortunately.

Normally a thread like this would start people lightheartedly discussing weird things they've witnessed on public transport, and everyone having a bit of a laugh....but seems people would rather snap at OP.

Hmm
