to want a normal full fat fecking yogurt?!

Why is every bloody yogurt in the supermarket 'low fat' or 'zero fat' or 'lite' or '0%'. Or contains gellatine, added cream Hmm thickening agents or some other bollocks?!

I just want a normal fruit yogurt that is full fat (so high protein low sugars) without so much crap added, and that doesn't cost £2.75 a spoonful and have guava and the gold encrusted tears of vegans in the title.

Just a traditional old school flipping yogurt.

My nearest Waitrose is 30 miles away. Tesco are crap. Asda are crap. My local Sainsburys are crap. My Aldi ones had cream added!

I might brave M&S later but I'm pretty sure my last ones from there had cream added too, but they may have been the gooseberry fools Blush

Where can I get some? I long for the days of a basic small pot and a foil lid and a cow print on the tab.

What about Rachels?

FASH84 · 05/05/2018 16:38

OP have you tried the collective yoghurts they come in big tubs, full fat with fruit compote swirled through. You can stand a spoon up in it. I forgot about them but we just got our grocery delivery!

I buy 1k tubs of onken plain full fat yoghurt, or Langley's if I happen to be in Morrisons.
Not many full fat yoghurts are live/bio though which is my requirement.
I loathe low fat/diet foods.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 05/05/2018 16:44

It’s not just the low fat nonsense being everywhere, it’s the sheer array of different yoghurts on offer. Too much choice.

TorviBrightspear · 05/05/2018 16:46

I'd love to find basic full fat yohurts but I've been around a lot and struggle to find some my mum will eat.

I'm sick of the idea that everything has to be low fat. most people are putting weight on becuase of sugars, not fat.

We have to help mum build up her weight after being very ill, and she's been told she can eat full fat yoghurts. A right pain it is, to find them.

Kornucopia · 05/05/2018 16:49

The collective yoghurts are my favourite food. I have some with a dollop of muesli in every day.

nothingwittyhere · 05/05/2018 16:51

Longley Farm also seem to be the only ones making a banana yoghurt. Love banana yoghurt, why is it so rate in the UK? Note: NOT Banana custard yoghurt (glares at Yeo Valley).

Laiste · 05/05/2018 16:52

Does anyone else remember when Ski yogurts were in those glass jars? Meant to be shaped a bit like milk churns i think. I was only about 7 or 8. Late 70s. My mum wouldn't buy them but my nan always had some in Grin

Laiste · 05/05/2018 16:54

NO! It wasn't Ski in the glass pot! Ski came in the plastic churn shaped pots. What was the glass one then ....

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 05/05/2018 17:03

It wasn't Yoplait was it Laiste?

Scabbersley · 05/05/2018 17:03

The glass pots were a French name something lait

Notmyideamovingon · 05/05/2018 17:08

The collective ones have a LOT of sugar

Notmyideamovingon · 05/05/2018 17:08

But they are lovely

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 05/05/2018 17:08

I think it was these, though packaging might be different now

bushtailadventures · 05/05/2018 17:08

Asda do Lancashire Farm, 1kg full fat for a £1 at the moment, it's lovely.I do add frozen fruit to it, but it's nice to eat on it's own too.

MotherWol · 05/05/2018 17:08

Look out for Stapleton's yogurt - I usually get in Morrison's. It's really lovely - they do fruit flavours and a small range of Greek style ones ( the lemon curd is lush). Sometimes see it in Waitrose too.

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 05/05/2018 17:10

It's the term 'French style yoghurt' that rings a bell too

Laiste · 05/05/2018 17:15

I can't bloomin' find it! I think it may well have been french. I don't think it was Yoplait ...

I'm thinking it was 80s now. Little glass churns. They were a bit pricey and i'd buy myself one as a treat while mooching about as a teen .. they were lovely and fairly firm. I think i used to buy the blackcurrent.

Maybe it was Oui Cukoo. Not sure ...

ChristmasFluff · 05/05/2018 17:18

I'm only here to share your pain. I thought I'd bought some full fat lovely yoghurty stuff, purely for the fruity bit (cos I too make my own mostly). Got home and I've accidentally picked up the 'no added sugar' i.e. 'full of nasty sweeteners horrible manky yuck' version.

I'd like to buy cleaning stuff that isn't antibacterial too. Also very difficult.

Laiste · 05/05/2018 17:24

It might have been La Fermiere or Loseley.

They were just lovely and i used to get them in a little deli in Richmond. It's all flooding back! :)

Anyway ... i'm right with you OP. Low fat everything - pah!

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 05/05/2018 17:27

Yes! Now you've said slightly firm I've had a visual flashback! I'll carry on googling, slightly obsessed here too....

AnnaMagnani · 05/05/2018 17:27

DH is obsessed with yoghurt. He insists on having an Activia or Ski everyday - I tried them once and they are fecking vile. So bloody sweet!

I did ask him what he thought they replaced the fat with?

Meanwhile I have Lidl full fat Greek yoghurt with berries in. Lovely.

I did have Longley Farm once from Morrisons. It was the best yoghurt ever.

RomeoBunny · 05/05/2018 17:29

@Branleuse I'm 32 so no, not remembering as nostalgia that didn't exist.

It was Langley Farm and similar I remember from being a kid. And also french set yogurts and similar.

Also every supermarket had their own-brand normal yogurts instead of low fat, low protein, high sugar CRAP.

And none of my local supermarkets sell normal reasonably priced proper, individual portion yogurts. Just the above.

But thanks for being helpful Hmm

RomeoBunny · 05/05/2018 17:30

@WhatTimeIsItCuckoo 'french set' yogurts were the norm for soooooo long. Everywhere used to sell them.

Turkish supermarket absolutely no sugar and 10% fat as a minimum
