to want a normal full fat fecking yogurt?!

Why is every bloody yogurt in the supermarket 'low fat' or 'zero fat' or 'lite' or '0%'. Or contains gellatine, added cream Hmm thickening agents or some other bollocks?!

I just want a normal fruit yogurt that is full fat (so high protein low sugars) without so much crap added, and that doesn't cost £2.75 a spoonful and have guava and the gold encrusted tears of vegans in the title.

Just a traditional old school flipping yogurt.

My nearest Waitrose is 30 miles away. Tesco are crap. Asda are crap. My local Sainsburys are crap. My Aldi ones had cream added!

I might brave M&S later but I'm pretty sure my last ones from there had cream added too, but they may have been the gooseberry fools Blush

Where can I get some? I long for the days of a basic small pot and a foil lid and a cow print on the tab.

I get full fat Greek style natural yoghurt, you can get it anywhere and it's really nice. You could add fruit I guess.

GymBot · 05/05/2018 15:57

Asda do Longley Farm cottage cheese, so maybe they will have the yogurts too

Crinkle77 · 05/05/2018 15:58

Agree with others and look out for Longley farm. The vanilla is gorgeous and they do a nice blackcurrant too.

YayImALlamaAgain · 05/05/2018 15:58

Do you know what pisses me off - that nowadays the ‘basic’ ranges are all low-fat.

For example, Morrison’s sell a natural yogurt in their basic range for 60/70p for 500g (next cheapest is £1.20ish), but it’s low fat instead of standard yogurt. Apparently I have to pay a premium for the unedited version. Same for cream cheese.

And even if I do pay more, my choices are quite limited. I don’t want low fat food. I’m eating that food because I want the fat from it - otherwise I wouldn’t choose it!

CocoaGin · 05/05/2018 15:58

I'm the same.... since being diabetic, yogurt is the stuff of nightmares. How they can label it low fat when it is so full of sugar is beyond me. Activia are the worst offenders by far. I just usually get plain Skyr in the massive tub and add fresh blueberries or strawberries.

TheLastMermaid · 05/05/2018 15:59

Yeo Valley and Onken here too, whichever is on special offer (expensive otherwise, I think). I can't stand that low fat shit.

Mumontherocks1 · 05/05/2018 15:59

I'm not the only one!! This drives me nuts. I buy Glenisk natural yoghurt and it is absolutely gorgeous. They used to do a full fat one but now I can only find the lowest fat version.

It bothered me so much that I rang Glenisk. They told me that the low fat version only contained naturally occurring sugars. I don't even know what that means! I might ring them again.

I probably come across as a yoghurt boffin. I am normal I just want full fat yoghurt. Is it really too much to ask for.

Crinkle77 · 05/05/2018 16:00

gymbot the longley farm cottage cheese is the best around. Dearer than other brands but it is so thick. Not watery like other ones. Their Jersey cream is also lovely.

WhatTimeIsItCuckoo · 05/05/2018 16:01

Yes they do have the cow on the front OP, but I think a PP may have said that already. My mum always got the yoghurts for us as kids back in the 70s, my fave was the hazelnut one Smile

SilverDoe · 05/05/2018 16:02

I love Fage's 5% fat Greek yoghurt :) You can add your own fruit! I totally agree, I love yoghurt and even full fat is pretty low calorie, a piss take it's all labelled 0% fat then crammed with sugar :/

cansu · 05/05/2018 16:02

yeo or the Rachels ones are nice. I think the best option is a plain greek yoghurt with a bit of fruit compote though.

Acrasia · 05/05/2018 16:02

@Buntyll Quark is not just Slimming World fodder. In Germany, it is an everyday cooking ingredient. There are aisles of the stuff (plain, sweet and savoury) in the supermarkets, and if you order a käsekuchen (cheesecake) and it will be made out of quark, not cream cheese. Müller is a german company, so not surprising they make a quark yogurt.

Stillnotready · 05/05/2018 16:05

YANBU
I agree with the Yeo Valley, but also good Rachel’s organic, available in my nearest Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s

SergeantPfeffer · 05/05/2018 16:06

Longley farm blueberry yoghurt is the food of the gods- think it’s made with milk from jersey cows so it’s extra creamy. Their yoghurts are the best, although a lot easier to find if you live in the north.

Branleuse · 05/05/2018 16:06

I get the plain pots of full fat greek yoghurt for my kids, and they have them with a spoon of sugar on top.

Ive even found them in iceland, BM bargains, as well as all the main supermarkets

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/05/2018 16:08

My phone is being a dick, hope this works

Another that recommends Longley farm as well, but I believed they’re were only in stores up North as they are a Yorkshire company. All my Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s round here have them. Don’t know how far South they go.

MumofBoysx2 · 05/05/2018 16:08

Make your own!

OutsideContextProblem · 05/05/2018 16:17

I was going to suggest that you just get a big pot of FF natural yoghurt, a big bag of frozen blueberries or summer fruits - and make up your own. But I see that a PP has suggested Ella’s kitchen (or similar) purées instead which is an idea of genius. Totally stealing that.

OutsideContextProblem · 05/05/2018 16:18

But there’s no need to actually make your own yoghurt, because plain natural yogurt is available all over the place - Lidl’s is particularly good and cheap.

LadyPenelope68 · 05/05/2018 16:20

You definitely NEED Longley Farm yoghurts, bloody lush! Full fat, full of fruit, no crap in them. Love them!

Hs2Issue · 05/05/2018 16:22

Coincidentally I bought the Longley farm blackcurrant yoghurts earlier today to try for the first time. Really looking forward to it now after seeing what people say about them.

wishingchair1 · 05/05/2018 16:23

Morrison's sell the longley farm yoghurt and cottage cheese.

ToadOfSadness · 05/05/2018 16:23

Ful fat yoghurts are available in every supermarket

Nope. I have had the same problem, I don't want fruit yogurt, lemon turd yogurt, vanilla yogurt, soya yogurt, sugary yogurt, bloody coconut yogurt, reduced fat, lite, slimline, watery yogurt, just plain full fat and it must be popular in among all the crud because the one little section of proper plain yogurt is usually empty.

I have given up and now buy the big buckets of Greek style yogurt which can also be used to make thinner yogurt if I can be bothered.

MadameJosephine · 05/05/2018 16:31

Asda do longley farm yogurts which are the ones we used to have in my school canteen 30 years ago. Delicious, 34p each and they even have a cow on the foil lid Grin
