Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

Omg really? I don't listen to radio 2 but I listed to the confessions podcast every Friday and it's something I really look forward to :( can't believe they've gotten rid of Matt and they're dropping it !!

Gutted :(

Noooo! I enjoy the Confessions, book club, all request Friday. That said, I like Jo Whiley for introducing me to several bands and singers I wouldn't otherwise have heard of. Steve Wright irritates me immensely. How his show is still going I don't know. The best part of his show is the non stop Oldies.

My theory is that Simon wanted to become a world famous author go, but has been persuaded to stay on as a double act with JW for a period of time to ease the transition. I just can't imagine a SM/JW duet doing all that much for me. I would have loved him with Sara Cox though.

How can anybody like the Simon Mayo show? It's really boring and the laughter is incredibly fake (as are the 'confessions'). Worst show on Radio 2 by a country mile.

She loves music as much as PA loves his children. Neither mentions it much though.

I love Jo Whiley! She's my couch25K voice and always listen to her show if I'm around! I get why people don't like her though.

I have registered my dissatisfaction with the BBC, not that they care.... My drive home used to be the thing that helped me de- stress and improve my mood before I got home!

Met her briefly once and noticed she was being stuck-up to waiting staff at an event I was at and never liked her since.

Isn't it the highest rated show on R2? Something like 6 million listeners? So while obviously not everyone will like it, it's clearly very very popular. Why change it?

I always felt a slight kinship with her on account of us both growing up with a similarly disabled sibling but, yeah, i have on occasion noticed that she can come across as a bit of a cunt. I'm sure she's perfectly nice in real life though.

I’ve been driving my kids around to Ballet, Cubs, swimming with Simon Mayo as a backdrop all their lives.

Just as the kids are moving on, it’s time to move on too.

I think it's all linked to the equal pay issues at the BBC. They've done something similar on Radio 1 where there are now several shows co-hosted by a man and a woman. Seems crazy as surely these shows are now costing them twice as much to put on when money is tight.

I thought that Simon might like to fuck off into author retirement a while back.

He’s witty, empathic and serious enough when needed.

He was on 5live when the planes struck in New York and was so very very calm in awful circumstances.

Ken Bruce is brilliant and funny and I adore him. I look forward to 9.30 and love pop master. I miss Lynn though.

Well, this thread has at least answered for me the question of "who the fuck listens to radio 2".

Apparently it's "people who think they're too old to listen to R1 but have fond memories of it during the 80s, including the urban legend regeneration factory known as the Confession slot"

Get woke FFS, it's all about R4!

Jo Wiley is very bland with a monotonous monotone. Pity they couldn’t hire Beth Ditto, Lauren Lavern or Amy Lame, but they are good presenters so have already been snapped up by the excellent radio six.
