To hate Jo Wiley

Not personally obviously, surprisingly enough I don't know her, but I love the Radio 2 Drivetime programme and she is going to ruin it. I find her voice grating, she has a babyish breathy style that is highly irritating. The Drivetime show was perfect and now they have got rid of homework, foody Thursday with Nigel and they are getting rid of MATT!!!! Are they crazy???

I'm all for gender equality but why can't Jo share a show with Steve Wright as his show is already awful.

I know I may be getting this out of proportion but it feels like this show is part of my life and it's just gone.

Cannot bear her. She is so annoying and has been for years! I don't know if she still does it these days, but her name dropping used to be cringeworthy.

I remember a particularly awul name drop 'i was picking up laundry with Tom from Keane'

I am beyond upset. This was my evening routine, listening to Drivetime and cooking dinner. And they were so FUNNY! Sometimes I'd be hyperventilating because they were so silly, it felt like having a few mates round in my kitchen with me... so so sad.
I'll listen and see how it goes with Jo Whiley but....I can't for the life of me see why the BBC thought this would be a good idea. I haven't heard anyone say they think it will be an improvement, even those who like Jo Whiley...

So much hate for Jo Whiley! I I really like her and always have, since I used to listen to her show in my bedroom when I was a teenager. I feel like I've grown up with her. I used to love the interviews she did with Dave Grohl in Radio 1.

Radio 2 hasn't been the same since Desmond Carrington (sob) but yes am also dreading Jo Wiley and her droney voice. Simon mayo is fine by himself.

Never one to shy away from stating an unpopular opinion It sounds like they are getting rid of all the annoying bits of drivetime that make me switch over, and replacing them with the excellent Jo Whiley, awesome! Confessions is massively cringey, and I have no idea why anyone thinks cooking works on the radio?!

Agree with pp about Steve Wright though, how that man still has a job on radio is beyond me!

YANBU. I love the Simon Mayo show as it is, no need to change as far as I was concerned. Old white bloke or not, gender balance or not (and I'm really in favour of this, don't get me wrong) if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Bloody BBC.

After this thread I read up online and it was announced back in January about the shake up, never saw it then.

It’s a shame a great show like this gets turned around when still hugely popular possibly to its detriment too.

They clearly all have a great time together and it tells over the airwaves , we’ve howled as a family listening.
