Hi, first time poster/long-time lurker..

We got 2 'siamese' cats from a local rescue, about 6 weeks ago. They're brothers, about 15 months in age. They follow me around the house and make yappy noises. They try and jump on stuff, but fall down and are in fact generally pretty clumsy. They get really excited when there is cheese in the room. They don't understand how 90% of cat toys work, and look genuinely confused when we try to play with them, or try to show them how the treat (dispensing) ball works. I'm starting to wonder if they're dogs. Or aliens... AIBU?

@Babieseverywhere ... I had two boys the same and we lost one at 15 And the other one made it to 19 . I was amazed as they were inseparable ... I have two more boys now and they are exactly the same ( I actually hunted down two boys who appeared to love each other and were the last two left because I loved my first boys relationship ) .. I guess what I'm saying is life finds a way . I showed the remaining one his body so he could understand he was dead and not just disappeared . He seemed to get it and moved on fairly well and quickly .

cozietoesie · 02/05/2018 16:54

Did he become closer to you?

pigpoglet · 02/05/2018 17:03

@cozietoesie is that for me? Yes the remaining boy got much closer to me . The last three years of his life me and him were inseparable . I think we needed each other as much as the other one . ( if that makes sense )

penguingirl · 02/05/2018 17:16

awww, I'm sorry for your loss pigpoglet. I'm so glad you posted as it's really been on my mind that these 2 love each other so dearly so what on earth will happen when one of them passes, it's very reassuring to know that yours coped well with lots of love from you.

Loving all the cat stories. My parents have a defective bengal. She's really chatty and noisy and cries if she feels ignored, plays for hours, is hilariously clumsy and turns everything into a toy or a game. She's also ridiculously affectionate and puts her paws round your hand to keep you stroking her and has never bitten, scratched or hissed.

She's also able to eat cheese without getting the shits and also likes cake mix, salmon and marmite although she's not allowed marmite as it gives her cystitis. She will tap hands holding toast and marmite to divert to her mouth and has tried to eat it out of DMs mouth before. Also to the pp with a chlorine-loving cat, ours is obsessed with flash bleach spray and has to be shut out of the kitchen when it's used. She tries to eat cloths used to wipe it and will try to lick fingers if you've handled it.

I love her but she's clearly a wee alien. Grin

Ahh thank you ... they were very special boys and found us when they were 3 weeks old and dumped .. this was before children so they were very much our babies ..... I was heartbroken when we lost both of them but it hit me harder when I lost the second one because I think I let my grief go into loving him more ... I used to wonder how they would manage without the other one when they were young too so I understand how you feel ....

I debated for months about getting more cats and could I allow my heart to go through it all again but I decided I have a lot of love to give and could give them a lovely life so I'm at the very beginning of potentially another 20 year journey 🤗🤗😍😍

I love the kitty stories! I have two little british shorthairs and I just adore them. One of them is the boss of the house.

drumandthebass · 02/05/2018 17:36

Wait until you introduce them to the cat flap 😂

Hs2Issue · 02/05/2018 17:43

Noisy Asian/Burmese cross miaowing here. She loves cheese and marmite - especially on toast (my toast!). She loves being superior to us and bossing us about.

sexnotgender · 02/05/2018 17:48

My 2 idiots love bleach too. Every time I bleach the toilet they go crazy.

Turquoise123 · 02/05/2018 17:48

Siamese are very vocal

All cats love cheese

Dispensing balls tend to be a con

Kittens can be clumsy yes

They sound lovely !

FermatsTheorem · 02/05/2018 18:03

I had a cat like that at one point - liked cheese (and mushrooms!), loved people and used to go up to strangers to say hello, just all-round dog-like behaviour.

Ravenesque · 02/05/2018 18:08

I think they are very defective, so defective that you should just give them away. To me. Grin

They are stunning!

liverdoc · 02/05/2018 18:22

I have Siamese all my life. Just to add to the welter of positivity, yours just sound textbook siamese - that's why I keep them. Mere cats are dull in comparison!

TyrionsNextWife · 02/05/2018 18:24

Apparently, some plastics are made with an oil that smells like fish - that’s why so many cats get obsessed with plastic bags! One of my cats used to chase me down if I had Sainsbury’s bags, but I think they changed the ‘recipe’ a few years back as she’s by too fussed these days.

FermatsTheorem · 02/05/2018 18:28

That's interesting, Tyrion My doggy cat used to bring me presents through the cat flap - of blue milk container tops (never the green ones oddly). I'd always assumed it was the residual milk on them but maybe it was the smell of the plastic. Present cat (fully paid-up member of the cat's liberation front of catopia, not a trace of doggy behaviour) brings an endless succession of dead (and sometimes just living) rodents. I miss those milk bottle tops.

Laine21 · 02/05/2018 18:30

just tried my Ragdoll with cheese........no chance! she sniffed and buggered off LOL its a nice Davidstow Chedder too LOL

Crazymadmumof6 · 02/05/2018 18:39

I have a Siamese cat she's crazy as hell hard work not at all like my other cats she thinks she's a human they are demanding very vocal and very clever doing naughty stuff mine is no house cat I couldn't keep her in altho she was grounded on a few occasions for stealing packets of cat and dog treats from my local shop good luck they are very loyal and loving tho

ElizaDontlittle · 02/05/2018 18:40

They are gorgeous OP and I think that cats that sleep in cat beds mean they have a major plus point as neither of mine do and I think that's quite common.

My rescue cat was pronounced at first visit to my longstanding vet to be a Siamese cross. It's funny because he is much less chatty than my older girl who talks very conversationally to me, but he does play fetch and eat cheese and is very much attached to me. I'd love to try and take him on holiday as I think he'd be easy to call back and take home. He's like a shadow following me everywhere in the house and given half a chance he'll sit on my towel waiting for me to get out of the shower.

cozietoesie · 02/05/2018 18:49

I used to take Twoago on holiday everywhere - even on a road trip once - but he was never allowed out of his new place. One thing that he did do was adjust very well to alternate surroundings. ('Where my Mummy is, that's my home' sort of thing.) I would not have let him roam, though.............

ElizaDontlittle · 02/05/2018 18:52

It's you and Weeds that have inspired me about holidays. Probably best out on a lead or not at all, you're right.

ToftyAC · 02/05/2018 18:54

Our two are right clumsy oafs and they luuuurve cheese.... they were rescues as well.

ghostyslovesheets · 02/05/2018 18:59

this stupid idiot definitely has some oriental in him - he's a food obsessed, arm humping, talkative little shite (but we love him anyway)

Abbylee · 02/05/2018 19:18

Mil took her cat to beach house. It escaped. Never to be seen again. It was in an island, ffs.

She's got a new one now....

Ravenesque · 02/05/2018 19:18

I used to have a cat called Yoda - she had Yoda ears - who was mad for olives. When she was jonesing for an olive she'd take one out of your mouth if you left it open long enough. Obviously in order to stop this behaviour I'd hold an olive in my teeth and let her take it from me. Smile
