Would you be pissed off if your partner went to one of these sleazy places? Am I overreacting to be pissed off about dh going to one when he knew I'd be cross about it ? I'm not hopping mad but I'm certainly very unimpressed!

Objectification of women is a problem. By supporting places that objectify women you are supporting an issue that greatly harms women as a class

This. It astounds me how many people think that 'no-one's forced into it' and 'they haven't got their tits out' means that it's okay and that we don't need to worry about silly things like ingrained, harmful objectification of women and any wider context.

They sell chicken. The women aren't naked. They're being paid. Men like it. That's good enough, apparently.

Carouselfish · 30/04/2018 17:27

I find it about as offensive as a Carry On film, actually somewhat less so.
Are you banned from shopping in Abercrombie & Fitch then, OP?

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:27

I have never met a woman who was happy and confident in her own skin care about " their" man looking at pretty women.

EVER.

BrashCandicoot · 30/04/2018 17:27

I wouldn't be impressed - it may be a good sports bar/serve good wings, but it's USP is the waitresses. It supports the idea that women are decorative.

Sunshinedaze · 30/04/2018 17:28

I guess it depends on what your partner is like. Even though DH is a boob man, he is a total prude and would get all shy and turn red! The girls are covered, so it’s not sleazy like a strip club where they are offering lap dances. I wouldnt have a problem taking DH to a hooters, just so I could buy him a hooters t shirt lol

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 30/04/2018 17:29

Do all of you who object " let " your men on beaches? Are they allowed out AT ALL, in case they catch a glimpse of an attractive and yet scantily clad , woman?

Do you seriously think that's what any objection is based on? That we don't want 'our men' looking at other women? Honestly? You've read the comments and arrived at that?

If that's the extent of your critical thinking, then that's a grim way to live.

ArcheryAnnie · 30/04/2018 17:29

In my vast and long experience of life, beautiful women rarely care about " their" men looking at other beautiful women....

The less attractive women....well.....not so much..

"feminists are just jealous ugly women who can't get a man"

New misogyny, same as the old misogyny. Did you time-travel from 1972 to post this, grinandtonics?

Tartyflette · 30/04/2018 17:29

Yes, I somehow doubt they'd employ me (middle-aged, with attendant spread) ....

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:30

How has feminism come to this?

That we vilify women for making CHOICES about how they earn their living?

Not all women are able to earn huge bucks being clever.

Some women are blessed with beauty rather than brains but somehow, a bunch of OTHER women have decreed that using brains to get by is ok but beauty, no.

FFS. Get a grip some of you and let other fucking women BE.

Oysterbabe · 30/04/2018 17:31

Ok grinandtonics we get it, you're so beautiful and anyone with a different opinion is obviously ugly and insecure. Give it a rest.

Elendon · 30/04/2018 17:31

Insecurity is an ugly trait - bet you stink and your boobs are floppy.

New puritanism - cheeky parsnips anyone?

Agency - Grin lick my post menopausal clitoris and then discuss agency.

I wouldn't eat in hooters for all the delicious bingo chicken wings in shineah

spaghettiforhair · 30/04/2018 17:32

I went to hooters with husband in NYC and the food was great, the waitresses wear shorts and a t-shirt nothing is hanging out or on show. It's a sports bar essentially not a brothel.

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:32

Don't eat there then Elendon.. confused...

Blanikbalm · 30/04/2018 17:33

Taking your kids to hooters is all kinds of peculiar.

The next generation are screwed aren't they.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/04/2018 17:33

Yes feminists shut up 🤐

If a women is good looking it’s fine for her to rely on the and for men to get their kicks from this once she is passed a certain age well she better go back to college if she hasn’t a ring on her finger from a rich man

Honestly thank god my teenage nieces are more aware than some on here are

Thirtyrock39 · 30/04/2018 17:33

grinandtonics I've got no issues with my self esteem thanks but I do have issues with women being objectified and employed based on their looks/ boob size hence my issue with hooters
There are however plenty of beautiful women with self esteem issues who would not want their partner looking at other women
Me and dh do have a lot of different viewpoints and it generally makes marriage interesting but occasionally it does cause tension

OP posts:
WomaninGreen · 30/04/2018 17:33

grin, it's okay, your confusion has been noted for the record.

ArcheryAnnie · 30/04/2018 17:35

That we vilify women for making CHOICES about how they earn their living?

Who is vilifying the women for working there? I'm not. Women are continually put in the position of having to make choices on how to survive in a patriarchal society.

Me, I vilify the men who find it so "convenient to their hotels", and the the patriarchal society which thinks it's so cool to present women as merely something for the entertainment of men.

Alconleigh · 30/04/2018 17:36

I've never even seen one in the UK. Where are they? Or is everyone talking about the States?

Elendon · 30/04/2018 17:36

Grin Have I confused you?

Bless you sweetheart, pats you on your pert bum, whilst looking at your perky breasts. Noting also that the tone of your skin on your thighs isn't quite up to scratch and you should pay a bit more attention to your appearance.

MillicentF · 30/04/2018 17:38

“Katherine Ryan, a fantastic comedian, worked there for years and apparently trained up waitresses at many of their branches, including in the UK!!”

Yes, she talks about how she came to feminism quite late in life, having been brought up to think that the most important thing about her was how she looks.

HighwayDragon1 · 30/04/2018 17:38

I LOVE hooters wings, idgaf what they are wearing just gimme all the chicken!!

Carouselfish · 30/04/2018 17:39

I take back my comment - apparently no shirtless men at A&F for two years now. I'm too countryside bound to know these things.

MillicentF · 30/04/2018 17:39

“That we vilify women for making CHOICES about how they earn their living?” Would you care to show where anyone has done this?

Frosty66612 · 30/04/2018 17:40

@alconleigh there are lots of them In the UK. Nottingham, london, Birmingham, Leeds and many more
