Would you be pissed off if your partner went to one of these sleazy places? Am I overreacting to be pissed off about dh going to one when he knew I'd be cross about it ? I'm not hopping mad but I'm certainly very unimpressed!

OP posts:
Whatshallidonowpeople · 30/04/2018 17:07

Luckily he finds things like that disrespectful so not his cup of tea at all

You'll be telling us he doesn't like porn next Grin

Babyg1995 · 30/04/2018 17:08

Yabu even if he is admiring the waitresses so what we are all human.

Musicalstatues · 30/04/2018 17:09

The food is amazing. The girls are lovely and the uniform has toned down a bit over the last few years. We take our young kids there and we are certainly not the only family there. Having said that, it is usually dh’s suggestion 😊

Frosty66612 · 30/04/2018 17:10

I’d be a bit fed up, but if it were just a special occasion like someone’s birthday then i’d probably just drop it.

LemonysSnicket · 30/04/2018 17:12

The skimpy outfits are no worse than what someone would wear on a night out. Tv makes it seem like they’re naked but it was only scandalous in the 1980s lol. It’s just a sports bar

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 30/04/2018 17:12

Just playing devil's advocate here, but for those of you saying "it's just a restaurant", would you say that Spearmint Rhinos is "just a bar"?

TSSDNCOP · 30/04/2018 17:13

What do the men that work there wear? Genuine question.

I’m amazed they’re still going strong, but just how good can chicken wings be?

WorraLiberty · 30/04/2018 17:13

He goes because the food is reliable, and it’s normally close to the hotel

Grin Grin Grin

TSSDNCOP · 30/04/2018 17:14

SM is a lap dancing bar yes? Rather different to being served wings and dips while you ogle the Champions league I would think?

steff13 · 30/04/2018 17:15

Spearmint Rhino is a strip club. So, no, I wouldn't say it's just a bar. I have been to Hooters a lot of times, but I've never seen anyone stripping there..

Usernumbers1234 · 30/04/2018 17:15

Hodge I know that’s devils advocate. But that’s not a comparison. The hooters girls are trying to talk you into an extra 6 wings, not into a naked dance in a private room.

YABU OP, bigger issues to worry about. Nobody is being trafficked to work there

steff13 · 30/04/2018 17:15

haven't been, not have been.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 30/04/2018 17:15

DH went years ago on a stag.

I would say if the women are happy to work there and the men want to go then fine. You can't eradicate everything just because you don't like it.

MillicentF · 30/04/2018 17:16

“just how good can chicken wings be?”

Oh, very, very good. And close to the hotel, I hear..........

Seafoodeatit · 30/04/2018 17:19

I'm not a fan, I wouldn't want him going either. I don't get it though, clearly others think it's great, a mum acquaintance went there whilst on holiday in America - couldn't wait to take her sons 8 and around 13 at the time, I thought that was really weird but she thought I was being a prude.

MsGameandWatching · 30/04/2018 17:19

I used to go there a lot as some of my friends worked there, people I am still friends with today, a decade later. We used to have a good laugh and some of those women put themselves through uni on the money they made. The uniforms are vests shorts and 50 denier American tan tights, not actually that revealing at all.

WomaninGreen · 30/04/2018 17:19

LifeBeginsAtGin "You can't eradicate everything just because you don't like it."

OP didn't suggest banning it but feels unhappy about partner going - as would I. It would indicate a mismatch of values big time. (Sorry OP).

Musicalstatues · 30/04/2018 17:20

The beer cheese and pretzels is honestly one of the most amazing things ever. It’s supposed to be sharing but we enjoyed it so much dh and I ate one of these EACH last time we went!

RaquelWelch · 30/04/2018 17:21

Katherine Ryan, a fantastic comedian, worked there for years and apparently trained up waitresses at many of their branches, including in the UK!!

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:21

Could not care less.

But :

  1. I trust him

  2. I look gorgeous in a vest top and short shorts myself - in fact that is my summer uniform..perhaps Other Women should ban their husbands from looking at me during peak season?

  3. I don't have low self esteem and a body I dislike

  4. I don't own or control my DH in anyway

  5. Insecurity is an ugly trait.

PinkAvocado · 30/04/2018 17:22

I hadn’t really much idea what Hooters is so I googled it and almost everything mentioned either ‘the three Bs’ or ‘brestaurant’. So YANBU.

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:23

In my vast and long experience of life, beautiful women rarely care about " their" men looking at other beautiful women....

The less attractive women....well.....not so much..

grinandtonics · 30/04/2018 17:25

Do all of you who object " let " your men on beaches?
Are they allowed to go swimming?

Are they allowed out AT ALL, in case they catch a glimpse of an attractive and yet scantily clad , woman?

What a grim way to live.

flumpybear · 30/04/2018 17:25

Hhmmm.... driving past our local one the other day it mentioned

Kids welcome
And
Bikini competition

In the same
Sentence .....

😵

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/04/2018 17:26

Yanbu

It has nothing to do with how partners/wife may look and their self esteem Hmm it’s a restaurant/bar that encourages and supports very sexist outdated ideas on how young women should be

Yes how old fashioned to not support female objectification
