Would you be pissed off if your partner went to one of these sleazy places? Am I overreacting to be pissed off about dh going to one when he knew I'd be cross about it ? I'm not hopping mad but I'm certainly very unimpressed!

Hooters not being comparable to a strip club is like saying murder isn’t comparable to burglary......doesn’t mean either is ok.

theycallmebabydriver · 01/05/2018 18:31

Sorry @Badbilly I failed to take your post in the spirit in which it was intended. I totally agree with you, Hooters will die an instant death as soon as that side of the station starts to get tarted up and some other chains move in.

I'm about to pop into the city for some dinner, want me to bring you back some chicken wings? Wink

OlennasWimple · 01/05/2018 18:55

TBF, one look at the Hooters Nottingham website and I can see my objections were completely misplaced.

www.hootersnottingham.co.uk/

No pictures of women in skimpy clothes and push up bras, no special mention of the Hooters Girls, no calendar for sale featuring the Hooters Girls, no crass puns... Oh hang on, no, there's all of that.

Plus, as I said before, it's basically called Tits and has tits in the logo Hmm

But I did see that kids eat free on Sundays, so perhaps that helps explain its popularity among families, regressive sexism clearly not as important as free wings Hmm

MillicentF · 01/05/2018 18:57

"But I did see that kids eat free on Sundays, "
And I hear that it's close to the hotel.........

gawdsake · 01/05/2018 19:11

Hooters is a stupid puerile concept. Totally lame appealing to the lowest Common denominator

theaveragewife · 01/05/2018 19:34

And I hear that it's close to the hotel.........

And has the best owl wingz

Yorkshirebetty · 01/05/2018 19:46

"Kids eat free on a Sunday"....!! So they are trying to appeal to the family market. I'm tempted to make a six hour round trip Confused

dontbesillyhenry · 01/05/2018 20:39

Seriously I'm not trying to cause argy bargy but those saying the wings are the best ever what makes this the case? Is it the spice or the crispiness or what?

gawdsake · 01/05/2018 20:55

It's the Wingz with the side order of boobz that does it Wink

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/05/2018 14:37

Haribo Grin from me as well. Brilliant.

MaryMcCarthy · 03/05/2018 10:50

Do any of you enjoy watching films or TV programmes? People employed in these fields are, to varying extents, hired based on their physical appearance. Are they therefore exploited?

I catch bit of soaps and stuff where acting talent is evidently a lesser consideration in recruitment. Is it therefore immoral and dirty to watch them?

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 03/05/2018 11:02

mary actors attract a fair bit more respect than women working in hooters, however.

My problem is not that people find other people attractive. I -gasp a feminist - also find people physically attractive.

The problem is that these women are reduced to objects, which actors, generally are not.

gawdsake · 03/05/2018 12:37

Irrelevant question really. I guess most actors/actresses are judged on talent/merit. Sure the people who make tv shows and films probably have some idea on mind of what they want the characters to look like/portray but to say actors and actresses are chosen purely for looks is disingenuous and clutching at straws at best.

BitchQueen90 · 03/05/2018 12:44

There's a Hooters local to me. I've never been and wouldn't go there for a family meal but I can't really get worked up about other people going. Don't have a DH so no issues there!

BuntyII · 03/05/2018 12:51

They don't have Hooters where I live. Maybe I'll start my own brestaurant and call it Tits!

theunsure · 03/05/2018 12:59

It doesn't bother me in the slightest - I've been and enjoyed the food.

I've been in many a lap dancing club though too and don't batter an eyelid at that sort of thing.

BitchQueen90 · 03/05/2018 13:25

The Hooters near me proclaims to be the only one in the UK, not sure if that's true. To be fair it is near 2 hotels and the train station Grin

Yorkshirebetty · 03/05/2018 17:23

MaryMccarthy it's not hiring 'people' who are attractive. It's hiring women for their breasts because it's a breast themed restaurant. It's not a condition of Holby City to have your T and A on display at all times.

ThisIsTheFirstStep · 03/05/2018 17:33

theunsure well battering your eyelids would be painful, so probably best you avoid it.

Good for you for not minding women being treated like objects though. You must be so proud.

theaveragewife · 03/05/2018 18:14

You’re so cool.

JAPAB · 03/05/2018 18:53

Perhaps only if they wear clothes that are revealing? If it is only the face I think that is seen as different than if, say, the men had their shirts off or the women wore short skirts. Because then the attractiveness of other, non-facial parts of them would be being emphasised, and that is seen as different than just having an attractive face, Objectification and exploitation are usually reserved for other parts than faces.

SmileEachDay · 03/05/2018 18:55

I’m wondering how you feel about the objectification of women?
Or the over sexualisation of young girls - which has been linked to the normalisation of porn, lap dancing etc?

Do you have children?

IcedPurple · 03/05/2018 19:39

Interesting that Hooter's and lap dancing clubs are being mentioned in the same breath.

A few pages ago we were being assured that it was a 'family friendly' restaurant and parents would drive their kids for hours to get there. Oh, and don't forget the great chicken wings!
