To have wanted to stab this woman at the ATM

I went up to the ATM this afternoon and got there a split second behind another woman so just smiled at her and stood back.

She then proceeded to put her card in and out a couple of times doing different transactions, took out another card and did the same and then did a transaction on a third card. By the time she was finished there was half a dozen people waiting in the queue.

AIBU to think she was a selfish cow who should have let me go ahead when she knew she was going to be ages?

Ooh you should stop being such an inconvenient cunt Pictish. How selfish.

pictish · 25/04/2018 21:01

I know. But there we have it. Same world, different planets at times. We’re all the same.

Maybe it's pms? I had it really bad in my 30's and felt murderous at times!

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 25/04/2018 21:04

I don’t think we are pictish Grin

pictish · 25/04/2018 21:06

We are...you’re just kidding yourself. You get impatient and annoyed at being randomly inconvenienced too. Everyone does.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 25/04/2018 21:08

Yes I kick puppies an’ all. Bad bastard me.

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 21:08

Tbf i currently blame my lack of patience on pregnancy hormones. Very difficult to have sympathy for anyone else when you waddle like a duck having its foof snapped from the inside 😂 and yes, i'm aware that i probably am now one of those Mirrivan inducing people draining folk of their patience with my slowness 😆

leggere · 25/04/2018 21:09

PMS possibly, Pictish?

pictish · 25/04/2018 21:13

Other drivers annoy you. Other shoppers annoy you. People taking an eon in front of you at the Post Office annoy you. Long, slow queues annoy you. Being held up by someone else’s slowness when you’re running late annoys you. Waiting for someone to finish faffing at the ATM annoys you. The person in front missing the green light annoys you. The gaggle of people standing and chatting while blocking the aisle so you can’t get past annoys you. The shop assistant who answers the phone instead of serving you annoys you.

Maybe not every day or all the time, or even as rule...but they do. Don’t lie now.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 25/04/2018 21:15

You annoy me.

There, do you win? Are you happy now? Grin

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 21:16

Oh zibbidoo you were doing so well 🙈

pictish · 25/04/2018 21:18

Not particularly. I’m just baffled that you would try to convince people that you never feel impatient or annoyed. I think it’s odd of you.

leggere · 25/04/2018 21:25

This is definitely pms and not Mirrivan Syndrome after all. Condolences Pictish. Flowers

pictish · 25/04/2018 21:27

What?

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 21:31

leggere how did you reach this diagnosis? I'm intrigued

Moussemoose · 25/04/2018 21:33

What makes me stabby? People who never get annoyed. People who say calm down. People who never have a bad thought about anyone else. People who live lives of saintly perfection. The wonderful and perfect people who inhabit MN.

Personally, I think YWBVVVU not to beat her to a bloody pulp to save the rest of us from standing behind her in the future.

Alconleigh · 25/04/2018 21:38

I spend a reasonable proportion of every day trying not to shout "come the fuck on Bridget" at large swathes of the population. Not only would it be rude, the reference would be lost on most. But fuck me, the sheer amount of time people can take to carry out basic everyday transactions. I feel like I am set to a different pace. Twenty years in London definitely plays a part. I keep it polite though because I have a horrible feeling that my comeuppance for a lifetime of being relentlessly on it and efficient will be early onset Alzheimer's or something, and I hope people will be patient with me when I'm older.

ThunderPunt · 25/04/2018 21:38

I had this the other day..... lady got there before me, then had the nerve to ask me to check her balance...

So I pushed her over

Society is just set up these days so that everyone is accustomed to instant gratification. And so expects it. Instant food, instant cash, want new clothes? One click and they're on your door in hours. I remember not long ago if you wanted photos, you sent the film off and waited 2 weeks for them to be developed Grin

I don't think anyone is claiming to be saintly and serene but there's a massive difference between feeling irritated for having to wait and feeling disproportionate anger. It's probably worse for the younger generation who have grown up used to everything being one click away. Life is fast paced and that induces stress.

It's no coincidence that stress and anxiety are at epidemic levels these days. Stress is the top reason cited for sick leave in the workplace.
The world's going to Hell basically.

Pictish has impatience at times, therefore pms. My dd has impatience every single swim, therefore Mirrivan Syndrome. To make these diagnoses I was assisted by a large glass of wine.Wine Wine

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 22:04

Ah but surely the symptoms can come & go, thus explaining the sometimes impatience? Whereas your DD is impatient when swimming. Perhaps the issue is swimming not impatience 😂

I'm jealous. I want wine

We're not really helping OP, are we? My advice is to find the nearest store with beanbags and kick them. Better than feeling stabby! Should ask the store's permission first.

There's no such person who lives like that.

Dieu · 25/04/2018 23:13

Oh, I'm with you OP! Totally annoying ATM etiquette. YANBU.
