To have wanted to stab this woman at the ATM

I went up to the ATM this afternoon and got there a split second behind another woman so just smiled at her and stood back.

She then proceeded to put her card in and out a couple of times doing different transactions, took out another card and did the same and then did a transaction on a third card. By the time she was finished there was half a dozen people waiting in the queue.

AIBU to think she was a selfish cow who should have let me go ahead when she knew she was going to be ages?

For goodness sake - get a grip and stop being so precious!

You have no idea why she was doing several transactions! Perhaps she is caring for someone who cannot get to the bank and needs to get money for them as well. This is what my DH has to do for me during his lunchtime as I am disabled and cannot get 10 miles to my nearest bank.

Really having to wait a few minutes is nothing to get stupidly stressed about.

“But i defy anybody on this thread to say they don't sometimes have murderous thoughts over things that other people would probably tell them to get over”

Not on mumsnet you know. Everybody here is just wonderful.

Branleuse · 25/04/2018 18:16

YANBU she deserved a slow and painful death

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 25/04/2018 18:17

Exactly MrsDV . Are you like this when someone takes a few seconds to pull away at a red light, a mum pushing a buggy slowly across the path, your doctor's appointment being delayed by ten minutes?

It's life, try to calm down.

AmericanBiscuits · 25/04/2018 18:19

I understand your rage OP. I used to get stabby when people would turn in 5,000 lottery tickets (half of which weren't even winners) at the petrol station before work in the mornings. By the time they were finished, the line would always be out the door. I started filling up my car at night to avoid the aggro!

Woshambo · 25/04/2018 18:19

Yep definitely worth a mental stabbing. Same with the penny counters after getting on the bus.

Oh and if I'm in a shop and have loads of items but someone behind me only has one or two, I'll always let them jump in before me

liz70 · 25/04/2018 18:20

" your doctor's appointment being delayed by ten minutes?"

Only ten minutes! I wish!

SouthernComforts · 25/04/2018 18:21

You are not alone!

To have wanted to stab this woman at the ATM
pictish · 25/04/2018 18:22

Ohhh aye...anyone checking a stack of lottery tickets in a busy period is a fuckface as well. Used to work in a shop that had a machine. Murder.

liz70 · 25/04/2018 18:24

"5,000 lottery tickets"

PMSL at the thought of spending 5 grand to win 50 quid. Grin

JacquesHammer · 25/04/2018 18:24

Oh and if I'm in a shop and have loads of items but someone behind me only has one or two, I'll always let them jump in before me

So do I! Doesn’t bother me if people don’t though.

notacooldad · 25/04/2018 18:25

Flippin heck pictish That is just ridiculous.
How can she be a cunt for getting to the cash machine first and using it? There's no local bylaws that state you have to give your place up if you get there first.

Sounds like there are a few people on here that need to do a mindfulness course or something!

CastielIsMyAngel · 25/04/2018 18:26

Presumably you weren't in a hurry as you let her go before you, so it seems a bit of a non-issue. I would probably have been irritated at the general situation if I'd been in your shoes but I wouldn't have blamed the other person if I'd offered them the space before me

None of this actually happened though. The OP clearly said the woman got there just BEFORE her.

OP, people that take forever at the cash machine and have a purse full of cards annoy me too. Not to the point of rage, but annoying

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 25/04/2018 18:26

Building up a nice little list of rage detectors here Grin and so my experiments begin!

pictish · 25/04/2018 18:27

Cos she’s a cunt.
I don’t make the rules.

WindDoesNotBreakTheBendyTree · 25/04/2018 18:27

Brilliant opportunity to do some pelvic floor exercises, OP, you should be thanking her

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 25/04/2018 18:28

You can't really compare this to a shopping scenario where it's plainly obvious who will be quick and who has a trolley load.

It's possible OP would take longer than a few minutes at the tap out, and what about the queue behind her? Should she take a quick survey on everyone's estimated duration of transaction before starting hers?

This is not established cash machine etiquette. The only rules are don't stand too close to the person in front, tutt or breathe down their neck, and avoid eye contact. That's the law.

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 18:29

pictish i have been away a while, i forgot how righteous & wonderful everyone on here is 😉

And yep to whoever asked; i get exceptionally ragey when it takes someone an age to pull away after a red light. We all know the sequence, pay attention & bloody move when it's your turn fgs!!

blue25 · 25/04/2018 18:29

Your level of rage and aggressive language are what stand out as unreasonable.

ClaryFray · 25/04/2018 18:30

As someone who works with people who have intact stabbed someone for less, I'd say it's obviously not an expression and not something is trivialize quite so easily as you.

pictish · 25/04/2018 18:30

Just drive your fucking car! That’s what I say.

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 18:33

Do people tear apart other phrases too? Seen plenty...i want to suffocate my DH because. I'm absolutely raging. I'm starving. You get the gist...

I don't do aggressive driving but I definitely get road ragey & mutter to myself/my steering wheel at many points

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 25/04/2018 18:34

On a scale of 1-10 how effective do you think your rage is at speeding up the slow people? Grin

LemonysSnicket · 25/04/2018 18:34

Maybe you had several things to do as well? She is entitled to conduct her errands as she wishes.

mustbemad17 · 25/04/2018 18:36

zibbidoo oh it isn't, ever, but it makes me feel better 😂 the way i see it, me thinking ragey thoughts or muttering murderous suggestions to myself means i'm not carrying that rage pent up for the rest of the day
