I’m at home in bed today (day off work) with bad period cramps and all I want is my mum’s homemade tomato soup with warm crusty bread covered in lashings of butter.
My OH’s apple crumble would go down nicely right now too.
What do you crave when you’re feeling sorry for yourself? Or when you just fancy something that you really enjoy?

Sweet potato and feta cheese mash with red chillies. Could eat it every day of the week!

cushioncovers · 28/04/2018 20:16

Chip butty with tomato sauce

Sweet tea and biscuits dunked in

SlackerMum1 · 28/04/2018 20:29

Sausage casserole. Sausages, baked beans and tinnnes tomatoes - in the oven for at least an hour to let all the baked bean, sausagey goodness melt together!

frosty66612 exactly! all mygood memories have good family or pleasurable food moments and all my good food moments have good family or moments in time.its all so linked isn't it.
its also telling then how emotional food and mood/memory/moments are and you can see how disorders start on either end of the spectrum.
food is such a huge part of life both good and bad forms from it and with it/around it.
my best moments in life have been at get togethers with the family and a dam good meal somewhere in there.

Poor you OP - hope you feel better soon. Got to be a bacon and egg sandwich , factory white bread, Lurpak and black pepper. Yolks must be runny though so you can spread the yoke out to avoid dripping it down your front.Yum, could just eat one right now.

Missing my mum and my nain now, would like to sit down to a roast dinner with them, and some blueberry pie and cream.

BarryTheKestrel · 29/04/2018 12:16

My grans roast beef dinner. Every time.

Otherwise mashed potato is my comfort food. Milk, butter, lots of black pepper.

When I'm feeling really shit (usually with a sore throat, my tonsils hate me) , mashed potato with cod in parsley sauce is my go to, easy to eat food.

Fried cheese sandwich, the sandwich made with lots of butter, then fried in lots more butter.

Or a baked potato, the inside mashed up with so much butter and salt it's more of a potato-ey buttery soup, then the crispy outsides eaten sandwiched with more butter and salt.

I like butter.

Andrewofgg · 29/04/2018 19:26

FuckKnuckle you have got me salivating!

FuckKnuckle · 29/04/2018 21:07

FuckKnuckle you have got me salivating! Grin

Both of them are an arterial thrombosis waiting to happen, but they taste so GOOD...

Johnnycomelately1 · 30/04/2018 06:15

Fresh sourdough baguette (a thin one- a flute?). Pull out all the fluffy bread and discard so just left with the crispy shell. Add really cold unsalted butter. Eat.

or

jacket potato (but cannot be microwaved- must have crispy skin) with tonnes of butter, salt and cheese.

FuckKnuckle · 30/04/2018 10:16

@Johnny, you've just reminded me of another one...

A REALLY good sourdough loaf (one where the crust is about an inch thick and the inside is dense and chewy) and a couple of buckets of good salted butter.

Add a pint of Old Peculiar, close the door and leave me to it.

yawning801 · 30/04/2018 16:24

Johnny has also reminded me of one!

Jacket potato (or mashed, I don't care!!) with tons of butter, cheese and BAKED BEANS BY THE BUCKETLOAD! I don't have it that often because it takes too long but I want it right now......

SleightOfMind · 30/04/2018 21:22

Oh how could I have forgotten.
Cushion tea and dunked biscuits! I haven’t done this for ages.

SleightOfMind · 30/04/2018 21:27

FuckKnuck , my late DF would have chosen crusty bread, fluff pulled out with cold french butter as his last supper.

I love the fluffy bits with CSB (cold salted butter).
We were like Jack Sprat and his wife Grin

QueenOfMyWorld · 30/04/2018 21:38

Runny yolked boiled eggs and buttery toast soldiers with a mug of strong sweet tea

FuckKnuckle · 30/04/2018 21:52

@Sleight, I can just see you and your DF sharing a loaf, curtains pulled, crumbs and fluff everywhere and not a care in the world...

Grin at FuckKnuck. I may have to adopt that!

LanguidLobster · 30/04/2018 22:04

Mac cheese, and those melt in the middle chocolate puddings with clotted cream

FithColumnist · 30/04/2018 22:12

Mam's cottage pie with a crust of melted red leicester on top so thick you could lift it off and use it as a frisbee.
