I’m at home in bed today (day off work) with bad period cramps and all I want is my mum’s homemade tomato soup with warm crusty bread covered in lashings of butter.
My OH’s apple crumble would go down nicely right now too.
What do you crave when you’re feeling sorry for yourself? Or when you just fancy something that you really enjoy?

Heinz Macaroni Cheese on Toast. Lovely.

But we have a family recipe that does the trick. We call it Slop.

Chop and fry an onion or two
Add a can of corned beef, broken up into small pieces
Add two tins of chopped tomatoes
Add a tin of kidney beans and a tin of baked beans
Add some Worcester sauce, Tabasco sauce to taste.
Let it simmer down for a good while.
When ready serve with pasta.

Lovely!!

pot noodle or cheese and onion walkers on buttered bread for quickness. Otherwise its cottage pie with marrowfat peas. Also cheese and butter.

Notso · 25/04/2018 23:33

My Grandmas Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy, I wish I could eat it just one more time. Followed by her gooseberry pie.

A chicken sandwich made with proper nice white bread with a chewy crust, chicken breast, loads of salted butter, a little bit of mustard, salt and pepper and red currant jelly.

Beef sandwich, same bread and butter as above but with left over roast beef, mayonnaise and Dijon mustard or horseradish.

Cottage pie, shepherds pie or fish pie with frozen peas.

Corned beef hash.

Leek and bacon risotto with loads of Parmesan.

Cheese and coleslaw toasties.

My Mums tinned salmon fishcakes, her chicken soup or my Dads meat and potato pie.

Not sure why I clicked on this thread. I have done a fasting day today on 5/2 diet and am in bed very hungry indeed.

Looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!

Sorry to read about your MMC @TheImprobableGirl Flowers.
Enjoy your soup and sandwich and take care of yourself.

Mine is lots and lots of chocolate dunked in tea to make it go all soft and melty. It doesn’t have to be a certain type of chocolate, I’m not fussy - not dark chocolate though it has to be milk chocolate. I do like dark chocolate but it’s not as nice.

Polarbearflavour · 26/04/2018 18:01

Shouldn't have read the thread hungry.
Want all kinds now!
Mine are:
Anything cooked by my late mother.
Potato puree with cream and an egg yoke beaten in. (my late French MIL recipe)
Shepherds or cottage pie
Cauli cheese (always cream in the sauce)
Macaroni cheese
Spaghetti
Baked spud (oddly with tomato & spring onion salsa Confused) which is really healthy.
But best of all, anything my mum cooked.
She left the UK for Oz in 1983, so it was a bit of a trek. Worth it for her steak n kidney pie tho. Grin

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 26/04/2018 19:08

Fish pie. It has to be home made by my Mum, it has to have super-creamy mash and it has to be served in a giant bowl whilst you lie under a blanket.

ThisMorningWentBadly · 26/04/2018 19:13

Icecream
