I’m at home in bed today (day off work) with bad period cramps and all I want is my mum’s homemade tomato soup with warm crusty bread covered in lashings of butter.
My OH’s apple crumble would go down nicely right now too.
What do you crave when you’re feeling sorry for yourself? Or when you just fancy something that you really enjoy?

Camembert

Kim82 · 27/04/2018 13:22

A ham sandwich made with white bread and lots of butter with salt and vinegar crisps on.

DemoKritic · 27/04/2018 13:23

OP, you've already nailed it. Nothing is complete without apple crumble and crustard. (Make sure the crumble is really crunchy!)Wink

DemoKritic · 27/04/2018 13:23

custard even.

theSnuffster · 27/04/2018 13:28

Cheese on toast.
'Posh' fresh bread with butter, and maybe some chunky slices of cheese.
Cheese on cream crackers.
Homepride potato bake was a favourite but it's been discontinued!

Addictedtohavingbabies · 27/04/2018 13:30

Donner kebab with salad and mayo and a handful of hubby's cheesy chips.
Or a nice roast dinner with loads of gravy and some kind of pudding with custard after.

GeorgiesBoat · 27/04/2018 13:54

Porridge, with golden syrup and raisins.

Sad, hungover or just in need of a bit of comfort - it cures all. A warm hug in a bowl.

longtallwalker · 27/04/2018 14:15

Marmite and lashings of butter sandwiches.
Porridge

Joy1982 · 27/04/2018 14:47

OohMavis · 27/04/2018 15:57

Brie, baguette and cranberry sauce.

Lasagna and salty chips for dipping.

Pregnant lady drooling over here lol.
OK, so; Welsh rarebit
Mashed potato with cut up (vegetarian) sausages, baked beans and tomato ketchup
Cream crackers and cheese
Potato waffles with butter, garlic, chives and cheese slices (like what you get on burgers)
Cheesy chips with gravy
Cheesy mashed potato

theunsure · 27/04/2018 16:13

Very rare steak, dauphinoise potatoes with steamed broccoli and butter

Mashed potato with bisto

Scrambled egg, smoked salmon and granary toast

M&S Mushroom pappardelle

Oogle · 27/04/2018 16:23

Fried egg, chips and beans

Bluebell878275 · 27/04/2018 16:28

If I'm ill then I usually go for a cheese toastie or muffins covered in butter and marmite. DH always has eggy bread when he's feeling rough.

For just comfort food I usually have a big bowl of pasta mixed with fried onions and mushrooms, cooked broccoli, chili flakes, and a shit load of blue cheese and grated cheddar.

PutTheChocEggDown · 27/04/2018 19:49

With hindsight, this was not a good thread to read my first weekend on the Blood Sugar Diet Grin

Deshasafraisy · 27/04/2018 19:51

PIzza and wine and pizza again

Shockers · 27/04/2018 20:37

Aldi Mediterranean herb wrap (warmed), with sliced avocado, sprinkled with (too much) herby salt.

Or eggs of any description.

Or a cheese n onion crisp butty, but the bread isn’t great for me anymore 🙁.

FurForksSake · 27/04/2018 20:37

Pasta and Sauce mac and cheese with onion bits and bacon bits on the top.

Or just onion bits and bacon bits poured into my mouth whilst I hide from my kids.

RedForFilth · 27/04/2018 20:42

Cheesy, buttery mashed potato

Aylarose · 27/04/2018 20:54

Aw Get Well Soon!

I have lots of favourite comfort foods/meals (unfortunately!):

Fresh tomato soup (usually supermarket!) with a soft white roll with butter.

Pasta (all sorts e.g. macaroni cheese or spaghetti bolognese or arrabiata or anything really!)

Belgian waffles or pancakes with either golden syrup or toffee sauce and ice cream or a pudding with M&S or homemade custard.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 28/04/2018 00:54

Soft boiled eggs, toasted Polish bread with butter, cut into soldiers...lots of black pepper and a bit of salt..lovely.

We should make a cookery book from this thread...:)

Ski40 · 28/04/2018 01:03

Comfort food if I'm poorly would be an indulgent soup like lobster bisque followed by some thick hot chocolate.
Comfort food for a "crappy" day would be pizza and doughnuts. And whisky 😁

ScreamingValenta · 28/04/2018 01:18

The Bombay Bad Boy Pot Noodle deserves a mention on this thread. Ideal hangover fodder.
