Not a actual bag, but a plastic plant pot with a bag of soil and flower seeds inside together with sweets and cake, and a balloon tied to it with ribbon?

DC 7.

I was sick of bags full of tat so thought I'd try something different and constructive.

Thinking I might come across as a pretentious twat nowBlush.

I wouldn’t think it was pretentious although it would probably end up in the bin (sorry!).

AnxiousPeg · 24/04/2018 20:16

I think it sounds quite nice.

Party bags do my head in. At least this is something different.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/04/2018 20:17

Lovely idea Smile

If people don’t want to plant them, and not everyone will, the other bits are great. Go for it.

I hate hate hate being given plants. No matter how hard I try, it’s akways a waiting game to watch the poor bastard things whither and die.

But I’d appreciate the idea of seeds anyway!

Grumblepants · 24/04/2018 20:17

I think it sounds lovely. My ds would really like that.
Don't worry about what other people think though. Do what you like and your dc are happy with.

mumtomaxwell · 24/04/2018 20:17

My DCs would love that!!

toastedbeagle · 24/04/2018 20:17

I'd be thrilled! We once got a mini pot and sunflower seeds in one and kids loved watching them grow.

Cress grows pleasingly fast!

Ploppymoodypants · 24/04/2018 20:18

Great idea, I would love it this time of year

Sounds good to me. Anything that limits the levels of plastic tat in my house is a winner!

causeimunderyourspell · 24/04/2018 20:18

I'd think yay! An activity rather than plastic rubbish and sweets that I'd be scared shitless they'd choke on! I think as you're providing the soil and the pot as well, people will appreciate that whereas just seeds could end up binned. I like the idea Smile

Noqonterfy · 24/04/2018 20:18

I think it sounds great.

Awrite · 24/04/2018 20:19

I have a 7 year old - he would love that.

My elder DC would too.

Great idea.

Piffle11 · 24/04/2018 20:19

My DS is 7 and he wouldn't be interested - it would either be me planting it or it would go in the bin. He occasionally comes home with something like a bean or a flower planted at school - only one made it and that's because I looked after it. He would probably be rather put out that he hadn't got the bag of crap he thought he'd be getting.

Yarboosucks · 24/04/2018 20:19

Sounds great…. Ditch the balloon, they are the devils work!

SpeckledyHen · 24/04/2018 20:22

I hated party bags when my boys were that age . We would have loved this .

EasterRobin · 24/04/2018 20:22

That sounds really nice. And there's sweets, cake and a balloon for anyone who doesn't care for planting stuff. Surely everyone would be happy with that.

ShatnersBassoon · 24/04/2018 20:24

All nice, but I'd rather not have the balloon.

Fruitcorner123 · 24/04/2018 20:24

although it would probably end up in the bin (sorry!)

Not in my house we would be chuffed! Besides do you have any party bag tat that doesnt end up in the bin?

DameLillyTillicut · 24/04/2018 20:25

I think this is a lovely idea. Wouldnt find it pretentious as all.

Bunny tail grass is easy to grow in a small pot, requires next to no maintenance and is soft and pretty.

Also not a flower but very beautiful and super easy is Coleus. I remember growing similar things on my window sill as a child and I loved it Smile

DameLillyTillicut · 24/04/2018 20:25

(I would love you for sending DS home without tat!)

Hotfootit · 24/04/2018 20:26

My friend did this - it was lovely to see the seeds grow. The kids planted them at the party.

midnightmisssuki · 24/04/2018 20:27

sounds good to me!!! For my daughters birthday we gave book, a bag of popcorn, box of raisins and some crayons - cost us less than 4 pounds for the whole bag as we bought in bulk!

clarrylove · 24/04/2018 20:27

Ditch the balloon and go for a compostable pot over plastic and it's a win!

checkingforballoons · 24/04/2018 20:28

Really lovely! I’ve seen those given out before (but with tissue paper instead of soil) and guests all looked very pleased!

foxyloxy78 · 24/04/2018 20:31

Nice. Go for it.
