What would you honestly think of this 'party bag'?

Not a actual bag, but a plastic plant pot with a bag of soil and flower seeds inside together with sweets and cake, and a balloon tied to it with ribbon?

DC 7.

I was sick of bags full of tat so thought I'd try something different and constructive.

Thinking I might come across as a pretentious twat nowBlush.

I love the idea and have just looked up bunny tail grass- it’s lovely!

Wolfiefan · 24/04/2018 20:32

Honestly? I don't want to come home from a party with something my child will pester me to do! I can't keep anything alive and have no interest in gardening.

flubdub · 24/04/2018 20:34

I did this idea too OP.

The horrible lovely children at my sons party decided the compost would be much more fun if thrown around the room and at each other's faces.

Prepare yourself.

GreenTulips · 24/04/2018 20:35

My DD got one at Christmas and loved it

WineIsMyMainVice · 24/04/2018 20:35

Sounds great! Go for it. No plastic tat!

MrsFigg · 24/04/2018 20:35

Great idea!! Hate party bag plastic things, would be a nice change. My kids love things like that!

Scuzzlebutt · 24/04/2018 20:35

I did something very similar for my 6 year olds recent birthday. I used cheap terracotta pots from Wilcos, and they were really well received. I say go for it.

bookmum08 · 24/04/2018 20:36

I agree with others that have said no balloon. Ruddy things. The rest sounds lovely!

TheHobbitMum · 24/04/2018 20:37

Myself & DC would love that! Beats plastic tat any day

HippityHoppityWho · 24/04/2018 20:38

I like it. I wouldn't want the balloon though, but my child would like it.

DD is only arsed about sweets/cake in party bags but even she would like that. Perfect time of year for it too.

SomeKnobend · 24/04/2018 20:41

Nice idea, I wouldn't eat the cake that was in the pot with the bag of soil tbh. Maybe let people get their own soil.

Xennialish · 24/04/2018 20:42

Mine would love that.

MyotherUsernameisaPun · 24/04/2018 20:42

I think that's a really lovely idea. Much much better than a bag of cheap plastic tat!

Xennialish · 24/04/2018 20:43

Also much better than the wrapped books with a lolly that I did once, kids were not happy!

firstworldproblems2018 · 24/04/2018 20:44

Great idea! I hate plastic party bags and plastic tat that goes inside with a passion so have always done ‘alternatives’!

BikeRunSki · 24/04/2018 20:47

DD (6) would love it. We’d plant it. Her, enthusiastically, me - not. It would sprout, then die.

Mustardnowletsnotbesilly · 24/04/2018 20:47

Whats with all the balloon hating? Sounds great OP!

DameLillyTillicut · 24/04/2018 20:48

Grin

You can buy coir pellets that you add warm water to (DS finds this exciting) and it expands into little pots of compost. Let the DPs of DCs deal with it when they get home Halo

Shitshitshitty · 24/04/2018 20:48

I would love it! So would my kids. Very sweet

OhTheTastyNuts · 24/04/2018 20:50

I have two DSs - 8 and 5. Both would love this.

Ojoj1974 · 24/04/2018 20:51

Great idea.

Juanbablo · 24/04/2018 20:51

I would think thank goodness it's not a bag of plastic shite. I would hate the balloon though.

Great idea!

Honeybooboo123 · 24/04/2018 20:53

Sounds good.
I bought them a small scrapbook each with stickers and we took pics here of them and printed them out to put in it. Anything rather than tat and sweets.
