Not a actual bag, but a plastic plant pot with a bag of soil and flower seeds inside together with sweets and cake, and a balloon tied to it with ribbon?

DC 7.

I was sick of bags full of tat so thought I'd try something different and constructive.

Thinking I might come across as a pretentious twat nowBlush.

MinaPaws · 25/04/2018 12:54

I think it's great and DC would have enjoyed it at that age.

stateschool · 25/04/2018 13:04

pretentious. Sorry. Are you going to ask for no presents but money towards a goat for the poor too?
How about a book for each kid, Bookpeople do great bargains on good books.

DragonMummy1418 · 25/04/2018 13:25

I'm stealing this idea!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 25/04/2018 13:39

My DD (7) would LOVE that!

NurseryFightClub · 25/04/2018 13:42

They have funky plants to grow in pots in wilkos, think they are on offer at moment. I thought was a great idea to do with dd.

BonsaiBear · 25/04/2018 13:47

I think it's lovely and not at all pretentious. Normal party bags are almost always filled with tat that goes straight in the bin. I think it's a really great idea.

UnicornRainbowColours · 25/04/2018 14:15

Very nice :) if my charge came home with one we would have fun planting the seeds and watch them grow.

RickOShay · 25/04/2018 14:20

You can get compostable pots on Amazon.
Lovely idea Smile

welshmist · 25/04/2018 14:20

Lovely idea, will steal it .

BrightYellowDaffodil · 25/04/2018 14:20

I think that sounds lovely. You can get bio-degradable balloons which are more environmentally friendly?

Iamblossom · 25/04/2018 14:23

I think it is lovely.

I bought cheap water bottles and filled them with sweets once, they were really well received and I thought they would be useful once all the sweets were gorged upon!

Sort of green in that they were reuseable!

SaucyJane · 25/04/2018 14:25

I would like that - esp if you get seeds that grow quickly so the kids can enjoy!

OldHag1 · 25/04/2018 14:30

I did something similar a few years ago... bag of sweets/plastic tat and a choice of a cake mix or sunflower seeds growing kit. Some of the -parents- kids had a little competition to see whose could grow the biggest (sunflower not cakes lol).

I think they will be well received.

Mookatron · 25/04/2018 14:30

I have a secret love of plastic tat but your plant idea is great.

Only thing is I never like getting unblown up balloons in party bags as I'm always scared someone will choke.

Mookatron · 25/04/2018 14:31

Oh but I now notice your balloons are inflated! Lovely party bag.

OreoMini · 25/04/2018 15:29

My daughter would love it.

Karigan1 · 25/04/2018 15:30

I would love it and I think it’s great to encourage kids to grow plants. Great idea

Karigan1 · 25/04/2018 15:31

In fact mind if I nick it for my sons birthday soon :)

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/04/2018 15:32

sounds sweet

Imsosceptical · 25/04/2018 15:39

Lovely idea, but it would go straight in the bin once it got home like all the other party bags. I’d proberbly feel slightly annoyed that you’ve given something my DD could get fixated on doing without regard to my time and space to have a plant growing, stuff like this is what I organise and plan not just get ambushed about after a party.

rogueantimatter · 25/04/2018 16:50

Blimey. Planting seeds takes about ten seconds. Same with watering. Hardly an ambush.

OreoMini · 25/04/2018 16:56

Ambushed😂. Iv heard it all now!

BrettAndersonscheekbones · 25/04/2018 17:02

That's a really nice idea, wish I'd thought of it when mine were younger! Maybe sunflower, marigold or nasturtiums, all germinate quickly.

LaurieMarlow · 25/04/2018 17:06

I like it. But then I abhor the tat.

I think DS would enjoy planting it (he's younger than 7), so win, win.

megletthesecond · 25/04/2018 17:07

Lovely idea.
FWIW if you want pretentious I put kids Shakespeare books in 10yr old DS's party bags. He'd had a football party though so I wasn't a totally boring mum.
