To think please not Arthur

It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

Alexander Charles Henry

bbpp · 24/04/2018 16:02

I love the name Arthur and was pretty sure it would be that, possibly Frederick. But I'm now thinking maybe Alexander? She doesn't seem to go for 'fancy' names and I think a Prince Alex/Alexander would fit in with the siblings?

I have a feeling someone will point out why that could never happen though!

bbpp · 24/04/2018 16:02

omg X post! Grin

NoodlesLivesHere · 24/04/2018 16:03

Just to send the Daily Mail trolls into frenzy they should call the baby David Andrew Patrick or any order of those that covers all the patron saints bar the one who's day he was born on.

In all seriousness though I'd be shocked if Phillip isn't in there somewhere.

LapdanceShoeshine · 24/04/2018 16:04

It's Prince Charles third name (Charles Philip Arthur George)

Or Philip Charles Arthur George, who Diana married Grin

opionated · 24/04/2018 16:04

I don't think anybody is attacking them just the Op doesn't like Arthur
yes the op said it was 'alfull' i would not dream commenting on a childs name seems something that katie hopkins did and got attacked for

CaptainCardamom · 24/04/2018 16:05

I love Arthur and would have used it for DS (if we hadn't thought of something even better...) - it's fabulously English and the legendary King Arthur is a great royal. Nickname Artie or Art for when grown up - so cool.

They CAN'T call him Albert so I reckon Arthur or Freddie. Freddie would be suitably both posh and cute.

GrannyGrissle · 24/04/2018 16:06

It's been officially announced. Prince Kaiden Connor Callum Kyle. Beautiful.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 24/04/2018 16:06

I'm predicting Philip or Henry after uncle Harry. Or Thomas. Maybe Keith. I actually don't care but I'm so bored today.Grin

sunshinestorm · 24/04/2018 16:06

its kind of a shame they used up Alexander and Louis on George's middle names as they are both lovely. The 'approved' list of names is already so short for a boy, let alone when they've already used up 3 decent ones.

TomRavenscroft · 24/04/2018 16:07

the others are named traditionally, can't see them using Arthur.

What's not traditional about Arthur?

trulybadlydeeply · 24/04/2018 16:08

Edmund is nice (and royal).

Edmund Philip Michael.

OuaisMaisBon · 24/04/2018 16:08

Oh, my eyes, darn it, I can't unread what a Prince Albert is. Another one leading a sheltered life here.
I really dislike the name Arthur because of Mr Askey and George Cole . I think Philip would be good. But Princey McPrinceface is by far the best.

SoMuchToBits · 24/04/2018 16:08

I don't think it will be Philip, as there is already a Prince Philip (but Philip may be one of the middle names). Similarly I don't think it will be Charles, Andrew, Edward, William or Henry. Or James because of Edward's son.

It won't be Alexander or Louis as they are George's middle names.

Prince Albert would just be silly. Arthur is ok, but not sure it really goes with George and Charlotte.

Maybe Frederick. Or something like Thomas or Stephen.

midsomermurderess · 24/04/2018 16:08

I think it might be Philip. It is very old fashioned but could be shortened to Pip, although Prince Pip is a bit daft.

Samcro · 24/04/2018 16:08

arthur just now makes me think of "Peaky Fucking Blinders"

IndigoApple · 24/04/2018 16:09

YANBU

DD suggested AviciiGrin

ToadOfSadness · 24/04/2018 16:09

They could call him Alfred, then he would fit in with the millions of Alfies that are around.

I like Arthur but not Albert which would need to be shortened to Bert so as to avoid the Prince Albert thing.

FizzyGreenWater · 24/04/2018 16:09

They should call him Cash, and then he can run away and become a cowboy.

'The name's Cambridge... Cash Cambridge'

ToyotaMR2 · 24/04/2018 16:10

My Arthur is the same age now as my George was when they nicked his name Wink

Elvisola · 24/04/2018 16:10

Obviously it's traditional but it's also 'of the moment'. I think it's too popular for them to use at the moment.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 24/04/2018 16:10

I quite like Wilberforce. It's a mix of Albert and William and means a fortress or large ditch.

Peorge is genius Grin

Nothing wrong with Arthur. A rose would smell as sweet by any other name and all that.
Stacey's baby on East Enders is Arthur, although pronounced "Baby Arffer" Kate may be a big EE fan.

SilverySurfer · 24/04/2018 16:11

Does no-one think it could be Henry?

Jaylabelle · 24/04/2018 16:12

It won't be Henry - that's Harry's name

SoMuchToBits · 24/04/2018 16:13

Actually, yes, Edmund would be lovely.
