It's tipped to be the new prince's name. I know we're all supposed to love old men's names but Arthur is just too awful.

Come on Kate & Will - you know you want to call him Milo or Ryan. Just do it!

eggcellent · 24/04/2018 15:38

opionated there's always one Biscuit

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/04/2018 15:38

I like Arthur. Better than Albert anyway.

My hope would be for something outside the stock royal names, but not too out there. So something like Sebastian or Stephen.

Bet it will be Arthur or Frederick though.

I remember when Diana was preggers with William (I’m old) and Lloyd being a bookies fave. King Lloyd. Nice. About as good as Ryan. What about Nigel.

DGRossetti · 24/04/2018 15:38

I'm more a historian than a Royalist, so have no idea and don't care of there is an approved list or not.

I do know there has been at least one serious Prince Arthur [Tudor] who died before he could become King (so we got his younger brother, Henry). I'm not sure if royals have traditions around such names, but the notable absence of "John" in any principal moniker suggests there is a sense of historical sensitivity Hmm

CanIhavedessertfirst · 24/04/2018 15:39

My son is Arthur and I hope the royal baby isn't an Arthur because if he is then there is going to be a surge of babies with the same name

SistersOfPercy · 24/04/2018 15:40

Call him Arthur! Buy him a Shrubbery!

wanders off humming brave is he Sir Robin

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 24/04/2018 15:40

My cat's called Arthur and in my view it's a perfect name for a cat.

AlbertaSimmons · 24/04/2018 15:40

Arthur is very popular round our way atm. I don't get the James thing at all, so staid and unimaginative just like the Royals really and just not very nice. It's in the same territory as Thomas and Oliver, totally overdone.
To my mind, the obvious sib-set is George, Charlotte and Henry or William or Edward, but those three are all out Grin. They've already used Louis, which is lovely. Personally I'm over-invested in Frederick Wink.

dizzy174 · 24/04/2018 15:41

how about Richard?

I think Richard or Alexander would be nice.

I wonder what the Bookies odds are on him being called Wayne?

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/04/2018 15:43

I like Phillip. To be known as Pippin.

DaveswifeDawn · 24/04/2018 15:43

I was just saying to DS1 "Jeffrey, how could any parent be mean enough to call their baby son Arthur?"

OP posts:
Dollius01 · 24/04/2018 15:43

Arthur's a great name (DS2 is called that), but I don't want to share it with the royals.

Prince Garry, please (with two rs)

Dollius01 · 24/04/2018 15:44

Jeffrey!! ha!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 24/04/2018 15:44

Or Leroy, although that should really have been used for the eldest.

Dollius01 · 24/04/2018 15:45

Leroy is genius

AudTheDeepMinded · 24/04/2018 15:46

I'm sure you sought pre-approval of Kate Middleton for your DCs names first then OP? I's no one's business but theirs (and the Qs, obvs). Passing comment on babies' names is rude, ignorant and bitchy.

wowfudge · 24/04/2018 15:46

Well it won't be David that's for sure.

LetsGoBitches · 24/04/2018 15:46

I think it will be Phillip, after, you know, Phillip and Pippa.

Or Clarence.

Or Fredrick.

Or number three.

DGRossetti · 24/04/2018 15:47

As George is taken,

Don't royals have about 100 names ? So you can always slide one in somewhere (Stop it. You're all better than that.) ?

00100001 · 24/04/2018 15:47

I vote for J'Ayden-Tyyler Kylson.

nn J-T

amusedbush · 24/04/2018 15:47

My friend called her baby Arthur and I'll admit I pulled a face when I saw the announcement on facebook. She point blank refused to tell anyone their chosen name while she was pregnant and when I saw what it was, it made sense not to open themselves up to criticism before it was a done deal Grin
