to not like the word 'c**t' being used as a 'cool' insult by celebrities

Am I at odds with the world or stuck in a time warp where people don't use this word as an insult, but as anglo-saxon for the beautiful female body part used for sex and procreation? Since when do men and women think it's ok to appropriate the best part of the female body to mean the worst of humanity? And no, I don't think it is the same as the analogy of black people owning the 'n' word. Be interested in people's thoughts.

For anyone of a certain age the word is beyond the pale. Growing up, all kinds of swear words were permissible, but never, ever, the C word.

It saddens me that it is now used to casually. I've only notice this over the past couple of years; younger people don't seem to bat an eyelid about throwing it into conversation. I have no respect for people who do - it is such an ugly word.

For anyone of a certain age
What age would that be?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 21/04/2018 17:09

to smeddum!!

SomeKnobend · 21/04/2018 17:10

I don't think it's been widely used in living memory as an endearing and complimentary way to say vagina. "Your cunt looks beautiful today dear", nope, can't see it. Anyway, if it's feminist enough for Germaine Greer it'll do for me. Are you sure you're not being a bit of cunt about it yourself?

Babdoc · 21/04/2018 17:11

The first time I referred to an obnoxious man as a cunt, my (adult) DD stopped me. “He’s not a cunt,” she remonstrated. “He lacks the warmth and depth!”.

For anyone of a certain age
What age would that be?

In my case, late 50s.

OhForCodsHake · 21/04/2018 17:13

I once worked with a girl from Ireland who frequently called me "ya cont". We are good friends Smile On another note, DH and I watched Rise of the Footsoldier" the other night and were in hysterics at the high incidence of cuntage.

KnitFastDieWarm · 21/04/2018 17:14

I LOVE the word cunt.
It’s both a fantastic and venerable term for the lady regions and a gloriously satisfying, very Celtic insult. Love it.
Also to those who say cunts aren’t beautiful, most straight men, gay women and bi women would take issue with that Grin

missyB1 · 21/04/2018 17:20

DH and I are both 50, the C word crosses a line for both of us, and I don’t know anyone who uses it. I assumed it’s an age thing, but perhaps it’s just the circles people move in.

TheFaerieQueene · 21/04/2018 17:23

Oh well. Never mind OP. 🤣

WorraLiberty · 21/04/2018 17:29

Have you looked down there with a mirror lately? Beautiful isn't the word I'd use.

Enid Grin

OP, why do you feel it's the best part of your body, just out of interest?

elsmokoloco · 22/04/2018 06:55

You must be so proud of DD elsmokoloco. Oh I am she's kind, smart, funny, but most of all she has the most beautiful cunt.

elsmokoloco · 22/04/2018 06:57

Yeah, maybe not. How bizarre. Sounds like your trying to sell your own brand RadFem with a touch of Victorian values.

sentMai · 22/04/2018 07:00

@Graduate223

Most swear words are misandrist, I suspect.

DanceDisaster · 22/04/2018 07:05

Oh my god, this reminds me of a thread from ages ago! Are you a man op?

There was a thread a while back where a man gave feedback on mumsnet and said what we were doing right and doing wrong on here. It went well for him as you can imagine.

Anyway, he kept going on about beautiful cunts and how we shouldn’t use it as a swear word.

Fwiw, if anyone referred to my vulva as a “beautiful cunt” I’d find that less than desirable. I feel the same about the word ‘mons’ .

MorningsEleven · 22/04/2018 17:17

@Smeddum

DH is in Edinburgh at the moment, he's just texted me to say hes been called "pal" and asked if he wants to take it outside over a train seat reservation. He was half laughing, half concerned that he might get stabbed. All in the quiet carriage.

Smeddum · 22/04/2018 17:19

@MorningsEleven is he ok??? Pal is definitely not friendly!!! Mind you nor is asking to “take it outside”!

MorningsEleven · 22/04/2018 17:26

Aye he's fine. Just some radge having a go. DH is very calm and very into martial arts, he's been training for years so I think he'd be ok against your average bawbag.

Smeddum · 22/04/2018 17:28

Radge! I love that word (I’m an Edinbugger who moved west)! Haha I hope said radge/bawbag shat himself and backed off!

Pfftlife · 22/04/2018 17:29

There's some right gid cunts on here Grin

araiwa · 22/04/2018 17:31

Cunt is used far more on mn than ive heard from celebrities or any of my friends family or colleagues

RoseWhiteTips · 22/04/2018 17:51

Why do people wave when no one can see the wave?Confused

Smeddum · 22/04/2018 17:52

Clearly you saw it if you’re asking why though Grin

BertrandRussell · 22/04/2018 17:58

I loathe "cunt" as a swear word or insult. It is deeply misogynist. I fear I am alone in this view.

divadee · 22/04/2018 18:02

I'm from south London and it's almost a term of endearment 😂😂. It all depends on the delivery. It doesn't offend me on the slightest.
