My all time favourite summer perfume was discontinued,Miss Dior Cherie l'eau.
It really pisses me off when they do that,or reformulate it so it smells nothing like it used to.now its going for crazy prices on the 'Bay.
Also lancome Aqua fusion moisturiser!
What are your favourite discontinued perfumes or beauty products?

And Gucci Rush 2

lemonsunshinecake · 20/04/2018 17:52

Loads of perfumes people are mentioning here are still available and at really cheap prices.

lemonsunshinecake · 20/04/2018 17:55

Well, I say loads but a few Confused

LakieLady- Dioressence was never discontinued but it has been reformulated several times, it's also not a massive big seller for Dior and with all the (new) Miss Dior flankers, it wouldn't surprise me if they did discontinue it in due course. That's why I stockpile vintage bottles of it (along with Diorella, its skankier sister!) I smelled the latest version a while back in an airport and while it's still lovely, the vintage version is magnificent in comparison- try and pick some up on ebay- for some reason German ebay is good for old Diors.

ldbemonica- if you mean Laura Biagiotti Venezia, we can still get it here and pretty cheap- try Italian Amazon or ebay. My local Italian pharmacy-type place has it for about €10. SabineUndine Roma is still around too, still smells quite similar to Obsession and about €15.

JT05 Miss Dior originale is the nearest to original Miss Dior. I have the new version and several vintages- and tbh, it's one of the least reformulated reformulations out there. You just need to not get given the flowery new Miss Dior (velvet bows and a million flankers) by mistake. Even the salespeople don't know what you're asking for half the time. I was showed about 6 velvet bow things and kept saying "original Miss Dior, not Miss Dior" You can pick up Dior Star very occasionally on ebay.

Pallisers Paris definitely not gone, but again, try and get hold of the older versions and avoid the Mon Paris etc.

DSHathaway the flat atomiser Gucci- was it a blue patterned flat bottle? The original Eau de Gucci? I picked one of those up from ebay as well. To take me back to 1987.

I've also read a few bits and pieces talking about the possibility that Chanel 19 won't survive- so have several bottles just in case! But I don't believe it tbh. I smell it on far more women than I do Chanel 5. They may stop it taking up so much shelf space in their concessions (I notice at most airports there's a full shelf of 5 a full shelf of 19 etc)

Clinique Wrappings is bought out at Christmas- PP again do a pretty good dupe- but the trick is to look on the Clinique website after Christmas- you can pick up the gift sets quite cheaply.

isseywithcats- Black Opium and the original Opium are two different animals- in addition the new formulation of original Opium is a bit rubbish. Perfume Parlour do an amazing dupe of original Opium which smells more like old Opium. (ditto Rive Gauche- the PP version is more like the original than the new version)

I also loved the Vidal Sassoon marzipan smelling shampoo- one of my best Christmasses ever was when my Mum bought me the shampoo and conditioner and a Mary Quant make up set.

Charles of the Ritz did a fabulous make up range called Revenessence or something- it was light reflecting but years before everyone started doing it.

L'heure magique by Laura Mercier. I so regret having been too tight to buy another bottle, when eventually i went to do it i couldn't.

Idbemonica1 · 20/04/2018 19:52

MissMorkansAnnualDance many thanks I'll take a lookSmile

StarbucksSmarterSister · 21/04/2018 00:17

L'heure magique by Laura Mercier

I didn't know they'd stopped making it. It was lovely!

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 21/04/2018 00:45

Monsoon by Coty. In a blue-green bottle. NOT the ones Boots sell at christmas. I got a bottle for my 17th and it made me think of walking on a warm beach in the rain. Im pushing 40 and would love to find they had magically started selling it again.
A Benefit one called Laugh with me Lee Lee.
Plus the first ever perfume Alberta Ferretti did. Always received compliments on that.

BlackberryandNettle · 21/04/2018 06:36

I've bought Contradiction (for dh) and Gucci Envy on Amazon after reading this thread - hadn't been able to find either for years - thank you!

Fozzleyplum · 21/04/2018 06:51

Eau de Givenchy in a tall square bottle with a blue lid. It was my Summer scent, but discontinued years ago. Also RL Safari seems to be very hard to come by, so I'm eking out my last bottle.

MissMorkansAnnualDance · 21/04/2018 14:26

There's a lot of Eau de Givenchy on ebay. I got a bargainous set recently with an Eau de Giv, a Giv III and a Monsieur Givenchy - each 10ml bottles for £4.

Follyfoot · 22/04/2018 00:29

I've posted a link upthread to where you can buy Eau de Givenchy. It's the full size bottle and is exactly the same as it used to be, just the label is different as it's part of Givenchy's archive range. You can buy it at loads of places, including Amazon here

CherryBlossomSeason · 22/04/2018 00:44

I became obsessed with a naomi Campbell perfume that was discontinued as I hadn't ever smelt anything like it and always got lots of compliments. Then I found a dupe website and it was just as I remembered

MissMorkansAnnualDance · 22/04/2018 13:17

While everyone is here, I'd like to invite you all to join us in the longrunning and ever so friendly Perfumista thread in Style & Beauty. Lots of us are vintage lovers, and we can usually find long lost scents somewhere!

Coralcolouredchrome · 22/04/2018 13:39

I like it when my favourites are discontinued. I get in a rut and it forces me out to discover what’s now out there, test 1000 new things and discover a new favourite(s).

thelastredwinegum · 25/04/2018 14:50

Sickof
I came on here to say Les Belles De Ricci too!! I've never loved a scent as much as that. Have you given in and bought any from eBay at all? I daren't in case it's gone funny. I got a tiny sampler bottle of it last year and it just smelt like alcohol....

I daren't buy any off ebay, it's not cheap is it :(

EyesOfABlueDog · 25/04/2018 16:05

I used to love New West for Her by Aramis. It was so lovely & fresh smelling. I miss it.Sad
Also, the original D&G perfume.
Safari by Ralph Lauren

pickingdaisies · 25/04/2018 16:29

Eternity was reformulated, it's now completely boring. I was distraught when my new bottle didn't match the old! (The old one lasted a long long time). I spent months trying out perfumes in search of a replacement. There was also Karl lagerfeld perfume in the 80s with an art Deco style grey top, smelt of mandarins, and it is now hugely expensive. Probably wouldn't like it now anyway 😁

SickofThomasTheTank · 25/04/2018 20:40

Thelastred Nope! One day... I tell myself. One day....

CanIhavedessertfirst · 25/04/2018 21:06
