AIBU to create new thread in AIBU linking to threads in the feminist board people want to highlight?

Now feminism has disappeared from active, I thought it might be useful to start a meta thread on here where people can link to threads on feminism they wanted to draw to the wider attention.

Such as:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3222459-Justine-stands-up-for-FWR-in-The-Times

It's disappeared from active?! Shock

I knew it wasn't in searches anymore, but hadn't clicked that it wasn't showing up in Active anymore

Belphegor · 15/04/2018 09:09

Why has it disappeared from active?

ChattyLion · 15/04/2018 09:13

I think this thread is worth highlighting just so MNers are aware that the Feminism Board doesn’t appear in Active any more.
AFAIK there has been no MN HQ comment on that or why it’s been decided upon, but apologies if I have missed that and hopefully someone will link to it.

whileStatement · 15/04/2018 09:16

Yes, unreasonable. People know where it is and can go there if they want.

I'm pleased it's gone from active as a few times I've accidentally gone there from the active list.

Efferlunt · 15/04/2018 09:24

Why has it gone? I thought I’d not seen many threads lately

Belphegor · 15/04/2018 09:25

"I'm pleased it's gone from active as a few times I've accidentally gone there from the active list."

Presumably you clicked because you were interested in the topic under discussion? Why can't people just hide the topic, why is it now off the active threads?

TerfsUp · 15/04/2018 09:26

YABU.

Branleuse · 15/04/2018 09:27

ive had to bookmark the feminist board specifically. This is a bad move from mumsnet

lubeybooby · 15/04/2018 09:28

YABU - stop looking desperately for ways to spread this vile, hysterical, utterly ridiculous and paranoid trans hate

Strugglingtodomybest · 15/04/2018 09:28

That would be very useful to me, thank you OP.

seekingsun · 15/04/2018 09:31

No hate from me. Just debate. It is what MN is so good at!

TheyMostlyComeOutAtNightMostly · 15/04/2018 09:33

I understand why they’ve done it but it’s very sad that general feminist topics (eg on the Ulster rape trial) are no longer visible on the Active board which is pretty much the only way I read threads - and I’m sure I’m not alone. It was sad enough when people deleted the whole topic because they either “were bored” with trans discussions or actively disagreed with the FWR board consensus, because they missed out on discussions on other FWR topics on which they might have been highly sympathetic. But now nobody sees anything unless they seek it out. I’m not sure what the answer is - and it may be to start some more (general) FWR discussions into News/AIBU/Chat/Relationships as appropriate and put up with the less sympathetic pool of participants.

DuchessOMalley · 15/04/2018 09:38

I'd find this useful, great idea OP!

hazeyjane · 15/04/2018 09:39

I will do a bookmark. But this has really annoyed me, if you don't want to see a topic, just hide the fucking thing, don't hide it for everyone!

I also don't get special needs topics on my active convo's (which is a glitch rather than a purposeful action on mumsnet's part) - so 2 of the topics I look at most don't come up for me.

I'm going to end up with irritating AIBUs about weddings and mils if this carries on, and I couldn't give a heap of fucks about either of those things.

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees · 15/04/2018 09:41

If they'd just given us a fucking trans board like we've been asking for forever then feminist issues could remain in active and all this trans shit could hide away somewhere else.

TrollHunterGeneral · 15/04/2018 09:42

No hate, just debate. Is a good tag line. Is it used? I don't use Twitter so no idea if it's already a thing.

Lallypopstick · 15/04/2018 09:43

Yes you are.

dangerrabbit · 15/04/2018 09:47

I’m not sure why it’s been removed from active, I’m aware there’s lots of discussion going on around this already but when creating this thread I had in mind this thread may be useful as a way of collating links from feminism where the wider discussions are taking place?

OP posts:
hazeyjane · 15/04/2018 09:49

I was against sectioning off all the posts regarding trans issues into one board, but if it is a choice between Mumsnet acting like parents hiding topics for us (like kids) and having a separate topic people can choose to hide for themselves (like adults) - then I think having a separate topic might be a better idea.

Maybe Gender Critical Debate rather than Fucking Trans Board though......

whileStatement · 15/04/2018 09:49

Belphegor

Interested in the topic but the idea that the feminist boards are a discussion is laughable. Anyone who disagrees with the party line is hounded off, usually called a man or MRA or TRA and shouted down.

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees lubeybooby

Couldn't agree more.

23 of the topics on page 1 of feminist chat are all about keeping trans out or how bad trans people are etc.

TrollHunterGeneral · 15/04/2018 09:50

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees

You miss the point completely, all this trans shit (As you put it) is a feminist issue, and women should know how it can effect them.

once they know, it's up to them whether they give shit. But at least they are not ignorant of what is happening around them.

IWantMyHatBack · 15/04/2018 09:57

Ffs

If you don't want to see a topic, just hide it. Feminism chat disappearing from Active is awful.

Coveredinbeeeeeeeeeeeees · 15/04/2018 09:59

@Trollhuntergeneral no I haven't. Why does it have to be all or nothing? A trans board would provide the necessary compromise, are you saying if the trans threads can't be on feminism chat then you'd rather the whole board was silenced?

whileStatement · 15/04/2018 10:00

"once they know, it's up to them whether they give shit"

But they / we do.

Some interesting debates a while ago but now it's just an echo chamber with fewer and fewer people joining.

That very self-congratulatory thread about a secretive open letter about keeping trans children out of guides got 1/6 of the replies that a thread about old people in big houses got.

The TERFs can keep harping on but they've taken over the feminism chat and I suspect that that's why it's gone from active.

I think people are peak anti-trans which is why they want the threads to be moved to a sub forum.
