Windrush Petition

Theworldisfullofidiots · 13/04/2018 23:29

Please would you consider signing this petition to provide amnesty for the windrush children who either lived most of their whole lives here or in some cases were born here but the home office has lost their paper work. The home office is a shambles but being successful in creating their hostile environment.
These people have lived their whole lives here because we asked their parents to work here. They had commonwealth status and then the rules were changed .

Mixed stories - the Tories seem to be having difficulty getting their story straight but the latest appears to be approval given under Labour but the actual act done when the Coalition was in power. Which I assume they could have stopped had they wished, under May's time at the Home Office. So no, we didn't hear.

Which bit of May's wanting to create a hostile environment didn't people hear? Or what about her 'Go Home' vans? Shall we pretend that this was a bit of left over Labour activity that she was just forced to enact? Did I imagine her talking about 'Citizens of nowhere'? Or shall we call her out for the nasty racist she appears to be? Or just a weak person in hock to the racists in her Government? May must be looking forward to the moment the Commonwealth Heads of Government take themselves off home. It must cause deep discomfort that so many of them have black and brown skins. Lammy spoke well - lie down with dogs and you get fleas.

What sort of loyalty to British citizens who have lived and worked in this country for nearly half a century do people not understand?

Has anyone else received this?

"The hostile environment is wholly May's doing" despite approval for destruction of documents by Labour?

It must be hard being you Peregrina

Theworldisfullofgs · 19/04/2018 05:43

Perfectly I have too. So it looks like it's going to be debated on 30th April

It was a UK Border Agency Decision.

Still need people to keep signing and keep up pressure before the debate regardless of who made the decision.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/04/2018 06:22

It's all part of trying to appeal to the thick anti immigration crowd

you mean labour supporters?

No, I mean the thick anti immigration crowd.

brokeForYou · 19/04/2018 06:31

ha ha @helmet

I see you a well educated and thoughtful person.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/04/2018 06:38

I see you a well educated and thoughtful person.

Your posts don't make sense.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/04/2018 07:08

Ignore those who are trying to derail this into an anti-Labour event. It seems to be how the Torres are avoiding change at the moment, by deflecting so that people don't really get their teeth into what a shambolic shit show all of this is.

No matter which party or politics people support, the important thing is that action is taken on this to make sure that no more people are denied their rights and deported.

Peregrina · 19/04/2018 07:12

The 'hostile environment' is wholly May's doing and nothing to do with destroying documents.

As for the fatuous statement that it must be hard being me a) this shows the paucity of your own arguments but b) more seriously it can be hard having a conscience and acting upon it when you see an injustice.

Theworldisfullofgs · 19/04/2018 07:13

Actually why we're in this situation is only helpful in the v long term. (and only marginally really)
What's important now is what's being done and what kind of country we want to 've in the future.

Peregrina · 19/04/2018 07:17

Far from being the thick anti-immigration crowd being Labour, it was UKIP who championed this. The Tories were the ones who were scared out of their wits about losing votes to them, which does at least imply that the Tories have more than their share of people to whom anti-immigrant policies have a strong appeal. The Go Home vans? Theresa May's responsibility entirely.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/04/2018 09:38

That's awful Moonrise.

I'm glad people are still signing, well done everyone, keep up the pressure.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 19/04/2018 10:02

Theworld it'll be interesting watching.

OldHag1 · 19/04/2018 13:27

Signed.

Justanotherlurker · 19/04/2018 14:04

Far from being the thick anti-immigration crowd being Labour, it was UKIP who championed this.

And they made the biggest dent in Labour voting areas....

Peregrina · 19/04/2018 17:15

And they made the biggest dent in Labour voting areas....

Not in the last election, they didn't. Their vote collapsed. In fact, it started collapsing 18 months before, when at the Sleaford by election UKIP came a very poor second, with a few hundred votes more than the LibDems who in turn had a few hundred more than Labour. The Tories had more than a 13,00 majority. If it had been a half marathon, it would have been like the winner coming in one hour and the others coming in at 2 hours 30, 40 and 45. But the right wing media were so busy screaming anti-Corbyn propaganda that they didn't notice this happening.

Not that New Labour had a great lot to shout about either when it came to immigration laws, but they lacked what appeared to be a personal vendetta by Theresa May against immigration. As indeed Amber Rudd has effectively implied - it became personal, and lost sight of policy.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/04/2018 17:43

So anyway, we clearly all agree that it is a nasty, nasty approach designed to appeal to the thick anti-immigration crowd?

Peregrina · 19/04/2018 18:17

Yes, Helmet agreed.

LineyHasntLeftTheBuilding · 19/04/2018 18:27

I think there's a childish, nasty streak in Theresa May, on the evidence presented in e.g. the Guardian, behind her faux gravitas.

Amber Rudd doesn't possess this streak I don't think - but she's having to take the flack for this fucking omnishambles that's down to May.

I wish Rudd would fight back.

Theworldisfullofgs · 19/04/2018 20:39

So do I actually.
