Please would you consider signing this petition to provide amnesty for the windrush children who either lived most of their whole lives here or in some cases were born here but the home office has lost their paper work. The home office is a shambles but being successful in creating their hostile environment.
These people have lived their whole lives here because we asked their parents to work here. They had commonwealth status and then the rules were changed .

Anyone who lives here legally (up to 57,000) has to now pay £229 to get a bit of paper to say they live here legally. (Good case for discrimination here I feel).

Not only this, but they have to prove when they entered the country, and continuous residency without gaps.

Without legal aid.

This is shameful.

Agree with the sentiments of the petition but I hate the word ‘amensty’ being used here. It implies these people have done something wrong and are being pardoned out of the goodness of the government’s heart.

I've signed it already and am so upset that this is happening to people.

Now elderly, some are even being denied NHS treatment, as they cannot prove they are entitled to it
and being kicked out of houses where they have lived for years

So why should some immigrants have to pay fees and do all the paperwork, but others not bother for years.

doctor the home office changed the goal posts without telling them and also lost their paper work.

doctor most of them will believe that they are British citizens and have been for decades, since childhood.

Did they actually need paperwork back in the 1950s and 60s? At the time it was possible for children to travel on their parent's passports. As British subjects many of them would have done this. Would they have thought of obtaining any other paperwork?
