*Question “What do you think if you see someone carrying a Guardian in Margate?” [substiture your favourite local “troubled” town]

Answer”Oh, dear, someone's mugged a social worker”*

That isn’t funny.

GorgeousJaws · 12/04/2018 12:56

Bertrand GrinGrin

BertrandRussell · 12/04/2018 12:56

“That isn’t funny.”

Sorry. Guardian reader humor.

GorgeousJaws · 12/04/2018 12:56

I laughed Grin

Aeroflotgirl · 12/04/2018 12:56

Grin at Bertrand that was a bit funny.

IIIustriouslyIllogical · 12/04/2018 12:56

But I still don't see why, when that leads to a death, we should all be expected to celebrate.

People aren't celebrating, they just don't care & think he had it coming.

The only people I have any emotion for are the old couple (the victims)

RoadToRivendell · 12/04/2018 12:57

But I still don't see why, when that leads to a death, we should all be expected to celebrate.

I'm glad he's dead because there's one fewer violent criminals out on the street, and it might lead to a chilling effect on criminals in general (might be optimistic). It makes it slightly less likely than someone will do the same to someone else (or me).

And let's be honest. He'd have been out sharpish, assuming he got a custodial sentence.

TSSDNCOP · 12/04/2018 12:57

Get your tongue down Gorgeous.

Mydoghatesthebath · 12/04/2018 12:57

Yes the quiet like attitude fuelled Rochdale abs Telford. It really worries me because there will be a backlash and the far right like EDL and Britain first will get more and more powerful as people turn to those they perceive as listing to their concernes. Like Katie Hopkins Sad

Like let’s face it immigration and Brexit. A massive shock to the metropolitan London elite and none to us in thr midlands.

GorgeousJaws · 12/04/2018 13:01

Down what, TSSDNCOP?

Slievenamon · 12/04/2018 13:03

People aren't celebrating, they just don't care & think he had it coming

They are though. There were people saying they were pleased/happy/glad he was dead.

BertrandRussell · 12/04/2018 13:08

People are celebrating.

MyMagicStars · 12/04/2018 13:09

What is life going to be like for the poor victims? They can never go home, never feel safe.
I hate mass flower displays. When DS2's mum died, half of the women weeping and wailing at the funeral with bouquets were the same mothers who had made comments about her in the playground for her lack of attendance at the school fairs, etc. If you really care about someone, put flowers on a grave, or at a place they loved, or donate the money to a cause they cared about. Don't leave some teddies to get soaked with rain and rot.

noeffingidea · 12/04/2018 13:13

Saying you are glad or happy isn't the same thing as celebrating something. Because that would involve doing something to celebrate it. Like having a party or something. No one appears to be doing that. At the same time some people aren't pretending to be sad because there's one less predatory career criminal in society today.

Personwithhorse · 12/04/2018 13:14

The council will have had experience of dealing with such people, if they try to enforce laws they will be told ‘we know where you live and where your children go to school’.

At the very least they could get their car torched.

When the inevitable massive funeral happens will their be any checks by the HM revenue on the source of the funds to pay the large costs, all in cash no doubt.

LagunaBubbles · 12/04/2018 13:14

hey are though. There were people saying they were pleased/happy/glad he was dead

That is just what is says though - I dont think is celebrating it at all. Im not cracking open a bottle of champagne. Im not planning a party. But I am glad theres one less waste of a human left on earth to terrorise elderly people.

lostjanni · 12/04/2018 13:29

I'm not celebrating a death, but i'm not sad about it. I'm glad he is dead yes, he deserved what he got, but don't worry i won't be cracking a bottle of champers and inviting mates round for a little party.
Also i find it extremley rude that people are accusing the people who realise what a piece of crap this man was as DM readers.
Regardless of what media source you use, it hink we can all have sympathy for the old man Hmm

OP posts:
Mydoghatesthebath · 12/04/2018 13:33

Not cracking a bottle but quietly pleased that this evil man can no longer terrorise and upset elderly people like my parents again. He would have nrtn released from jail and carried on.

Glad he can’t do that so yes glad he’s dead. No celebrating as it’s so upsetting for thr elderly innocent couple.

I found Elendons comments on the last thread utterly offensive but she/he isn’t in this new thread thankfully.

Aeroflotgirl · 12/04/2018 13:36

People saying they are pleased or happy that he is dead, does not equate with celebrating. Its not like they are having a party or toasting his demise.

Mydoghatesthebath · 12/04/2018 13:36

lostjanni

You must realise to be called a daily male reader is akin to being a white suprematist on mumsnet. Grin

Still people use the guardian reader as a tease too so it does even out to be fair.

Stirner · 12/04/2018 13:36

Once again we have smug, so called "lefties" (although I'm sure Marx wouldn't recognise them as such) falling over themselves to prove their moral and intellectual superiority by defending a crook and his equally criminal family.

Mydoghatesthebath · 12/04/2018 13:38

get your tongue down gorgeous

Was that meant for another thread entirely? Smile

GorgeousJaws · 12/04/2018 13:40

Who is "defending the crook and his family"?
Genuine question, I haven't seen any examples of that.

I'm not celebrating a death.

Am I sorry he died? No. The world is a better place without scum like that in it.

And the fact that he was a traveller doesn't stop him being a scummy person.
