I was told this today by someone wearing so much polyester she'd ignite if she ran upstairs too fast.

Of course it's not too old.
Smile and ignore.

MrsAukerman · 11/04/2018 12:58

Wear what the fuck you want.
At any age.
Easy.

TwitterQueen1 · 11/04/2018 13:00

Depends on the band OP Wink
ELO - go for it
any rock band - go for it

today's wannabe bands.... not so sure Grin

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 13:00

I knew I wasn't being unreasonable Grin

Music is only for young people don’t you know?

No age is too old to wear a band t-shirt. She can fuck off

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 13:01

It was 1D TwitterQueen..

ONLY if you are a fan of the band and know the music. No generic Rolling Stones or Ramones T shirts. That applies to any age. I went to a nice Italian restaurant last week with DH and friends in a Nirvana T shirt under a blazer.....I'm 37.

ThymeLord · 11/04/2018 13:06

You can't be too old for anything, IMO. Fuck the lot of 'em, life's too short.

BabloHoney · 11/04/2018 13:07

i get far more annoyed when my 23 year old step sister wears a Joy Division t-shirt despite never having heard a Joy Division album in her life ;)

TwitterQueen1 · 11/04/2018 13:07

Hmmm I'm on the fence OP - even though you have lied!!! I have been to a 1D concert (I took my DD and friends and mistakenly thought I had to go in to the concert with them). They were really good. I wouldn't wear that as it would be a bit motherly of me - it would need to be my era.

As a general rule I think the younger generation (I'm 50+) have absolutely no idea of how to have fun, they are all much too serious, so I would take every opportunity to wind them up.

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 13:07

I was wearing a Blondie tshirt a few years ago. I came face to face with a teen wearing the exact same one. She obviously was scundered at some old woman wearing the same as her and loudly protested to her friends that I was waaay too old to be wearing it HmmGrin

No way. I have a 66 year old student and he still rocks Hawkwind Tshirts Grin, I think it’s great!

Peanutbuttercups21 · 11/04/2018 13:10

LOL, DS was told he was too young to wear a band t-shirt Confused

Who ARE these people to make these kind of comments?! Angry ....

Grin
Doremisofarsogood · 11/04/2018 13:11

Band t-shirts are fine as long as you have actually heard and like the music - kids rolling stones t-shirts etc are not fine!

jaseyraex · 11/04/2018 13:11

Oh god, basically my whole wardrobe is either Disney or band shirts! I'm going to be buried in them. You're never too old for anything imo Grin

NameChangeAgainAndAgain · 11/04/2018 13:11

I agree with pp! ... a rock band from the 80s - ok! A pop band from now - not so cool! Justin Beeber or little mix type t shirts - a bit weird on a 50+ wink]

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 13:11

Bablo, I was sitting looking at a group of teens once, but not really seeing them IYKWIM?
One boy had a Nirvana tshirt on and sarcastically said uhh its Nirvana, they're a band.
I happily informed him I had been backstage at one of their gigs once and Dave grohl felt my tit so to stuff his sarcasm.

wtffgs · 11/04/2018 13:12

Firstly - I love scundered Grin

Secondly - why the actual fuck shouldn't you wear a band tshirt since you were actually alive and listening to Blondie in the 70s/80s?

VladmirsPoutine · 11/04/2018 13:12

She literally said "coco, you're far too old to be wearing that shirt"

Do you know her? What prompted this Confused

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 13:18

Yes it's a woman I work with. I seem to annoy her by, well breathing Confused.
It comes up now and again that we should wear a uniform , I'm totally against it but she would love too.
A group of us were talking about it again in the staff room and she said well at least people could start dressing appropriate to their age, looking pointedly at me. I said what do you mean and she said you're too old to wear music tshirts.

Yanbu
49 is the perfect age to wear what you want and not care what people think

AtlantaGinandTonic · 11/04/2018 13:27

YAdefinitelyNBU! Rock that shirt, life is too short!

Wornoutbear · 11/04/2018 13:30

Wow - I'm in my 60s (how the hell did that happen?) and I still wear my Motorhead T shirts. My DH has a baseball cap from a Saxon tour that's older than several of the people he works with!

MadisonAvenue · 11/04/2018 13:32

YANBU!! I'm 49 in the Summer and still wear band tshirts and hoodies.

Though I'm still smarting at my mother telling me to grow up when I told her I was going to a gig when I was 34 Confused
