I was told this today by someone wearing so much polyester she'd ignite if she ran upstairs too fast.

@Cocolepew - I absolutely approve!

@ANameforToday - Not particularly but thanks for giving me something new to listen to this afternoon, I was getting bored Grin

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 11/04/2018 14:26

That poem is brilliantGrin

Onesmallstepforaman · 11/04/2018 14:36

Shit! If I threw away all my band t-shirts I wouldn't have much left to wear, then they would have something to complain about. Everything from AC/DC to wilko Johnson. 57 this time, still going to gigs. Hope to continue

Graphista · 11/04/2018 14:37

I'm not big on poetry but I do like that one among the few I do like. Grin

My grans were fairly conventional in their way but also had little bits of rebellion like wearing bright colours that didn't necessarily "go", one breaking into song in public on a regular basis and one despite being diabetic (in her 80's when diagnosed) refusing to give up her nightly vodka and full sugar Coke Grin

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 14:40

Last year one if our pupils said to me I thought you only had daughters.
Confused I said I did.
He said why are you wearing that then?
I had a tshirt on that said Marvin, Otis and Curtis on it. He thought it was the names of my sons Grin

kids rolling stones t-shirts etc are not fine!

Grin My DD has had an Iggy Pop t-shirt since she was 4. She loves him though and sings along to Iggy and Blondie and knows the words. She also has an Iggy doll (supposed to be a collectors item I think), but he lives with her my little ponies Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/04/2018 14:54

Meh, I'm 40 and I happily wear my Harry Styles tshirtGrin
I know it's not cool, I'm not cool but I like him so there.

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 14:59

I think you're very cool Brillo.
I have a vintage Neil Diamond tshirt Blush

I love this!

I8toys · 11/04/2018 15:01

I'm 46 but only wear tour shirts. I like to have seen the bands whose t shirts I have.

BringOnTheScience · 11/04/2018 15:02

DC1 won't let me wear a teeshirt of their band, but anything else goes.

We're particular fans of shirts which play on cross-overs between bands and Star Wars / Dr Who / science puns (eg AT/GC).

WheresTheHooferDoofer · 11/04/2018 15:43

Crikey! I'm 49 and wear band t shirts. Most recetly a Crossfaith one, even though the band members are all under the age of 30. I like the music a lot. I also wear a lot of Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Metallica stuff, and have tattoos and piercings.

Trinity66 · 11/04/2018 15:47

Bablo, I was sitting looking at a group of teens once, but not really seeing them IYKWIM?
One boy had a Nirvana tshirt on and sarcastically said uhh its Nirvana, they're a band.
I happily informed him I had been backstage at one of their gigs once and Dave grohl felt my tit so to stuff his sarcasm.

Ugh how annoying, yes little boy, I was fan before you were born and Kurt was still alive Grin

You have excellent taste, I have my eye on this if you've not seen it:

BothersomeCrow · 11/04/2018 15:51

Band T-shirts are fine at any age, and as cool or uncool as the band.

I have a huge Iron Maiden one - got it when pregnant which was great for stopping people trying to poke my bump, and was also handy as a nightshirt when staying in hospital with ds and a teenager and his dad were playing films without headphones at midnight and telling the staff to piss off.

Murderous mummy in Eddie T-shirt - they meekly turned their devices off. 😂

TwitterQueen1 · 11/04/2018 19:57

PMSL at Marvin, Otis and Curtis. I think I luffs you OP. I have seen very few bands in concert due to lack of funds, but I took my Mum to see Neil Diamond in Wembley many years ago. I luffs him too. Saw Queen once too - A MAZE ING

I'm going to see Eric Clapton in Hyde Park this summer, and Paul Simon, if health allows. I will buy the t-shirts!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/04/2018 20:03

Bothersome I used my "Bollocks to the Poll Tax" t-shirt! Always got a laugh, and stopped the idiotic "Are you pregnant?" questions.

Cocolepew · 11/04/2018 20:33

I saw ND just before Christmas, I was 5 rows from the front and cried when he sang Play Me 😂
Laughing at murderous mummy eddie

I think you should report her to HR for being ageist Grin

In future you should look her outfit up and down slowly, do a mumsnet head tilt and say “never mind dear, not everyone understands fashion, I assume you didn’t mean to be so rude”

Also I think you could replace the band tshirt for one that says “Dave Grohl was ‘ere” and a big arrow to the boob in question.

MorningsEleven · 11/04/2018 20:49

I'm 45 and still proudly wearing an REM Tshirt from 2005 when Michael Stipe was going through his mask of zorro/ninja turtle phase.

Notevilstepmother · 11/04/2018 20:50

Why don't you offer to give her a makeover? She sounds in dire need of a zip on her mouth.

Grin Grin

Greenglassteacup · 11/04/2018 20:55

Bollocks to your colleague. Wear what you like. I’ve got an original and very faded well loved Bauhaus tee shirt that I wear even though it’s on it’s last legs

Notevilstepmother · 11/04/2018 20:59

You could get this on a tshirt too.

ForalltheSaints · 11/04/2018 21:03

I agree with the person who said it depends on the band. I do not class the karaoke acts such as Little Mix as a band in any case.

Mischa123 · 11/04/2018 21:06

I am 41 and wear band t shirts and lots of logo t shirts and have piercings and tattoos. I don't think my taste has changed from the 90's. I'm happy!
