Travel lodge. Am fucking fuming

IAmNoAngel · 11/04/2018 01:05

I am currently bedding down in the car park of the travel lodge at Birch services on the M62 as the room I booked and paid for over a month ago has been double booked and there are no rooms left.

Am especially pissed off as have driven here straight after a 6.30 start this morning and a long day at work... in Nottingham. So a nice tiring drive as well.

I have stayed here a lot. I never will again. Cunts.

That’s awful, how is that allowed?

Bitchywaitress · 11/04/2018 01:07

That's awful! Surely they have to book you another hotel and take you there if need be?

Rollerbilly5 · 11/04/2018 01:08

Oh awful! I assume they didn't offer to find you another hotel close by?

Aquamarine1029 · 11/04/2018 01:08

I am furious for you. I would raise hell over this.

halfwitpicker · 11/04/2018 01:09

What?! Find a hotel nearby!

MyDcAreMarvel · 11/04/2018 01:09

Are you female op?

Travelodge has confirmed this week that it does overbook its rooms to, in its words, “make provision for the proportion of customers that do not show up”.

It says that it makes every effort to ensure that customers are not relocated, which happens to fewer than 0.2% of its bookings and that “we ensure that the process excludes disabled, family and single female traveller bookings”.

TheWizardofWas · 11/04/2018 01:09

Hopefully inside a car.....sounds rotten

Noqonterf · 11/04/2018 01:09

That is very shit. Have they not tried to sort something out for you?

GertieGitana · 11/04/2018 01:09

Shock I hope they've refunded you. Are there any other nearby Travel Inn type places within a reasonable distance? Hope you manage to get some sleep.

MyKingdomForBrie · 11/04/2018 01:10

What?!? I would absolutely not accept that. Go back inside and demand relocation immediately.

IAmNoAngel · 11/04/2018 01:11

They offered me a room in Ancoats but roadworks on the M62/M60 mean that I can't get there as it's the other side of Manchester.

I had no idea they double booked the rooms. If you've already paid and decided not to show up then thats down to the individual and is very shoddy of them. And they are greedy.

ObiJuanKenobi · 11/04/2018 01:12

Fuck that, that's really awful. If you were anywhere near me I would put you up for the night but I'm afraid you are a long way from Dorset! Have they at least given you spare pillows and covers?

Noqonterf · 11/04/2018 01:14

Have you got duvets and stuff op?

NoSquirrels · 11/04/2018 01:15

That's awful.

Why can't you get to the other hotel - too far to drive whilst tired?

I can't believe they haven't any solution they can offer you, even if it's taxis to the hotel tonight and then back to your current location in the morning to get the car.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 11/04/2018 01:15

Oh op what a mare!

I don't get how this is allowed.

Yarboosucks · 11/04/2018 01:15

Will not help your immediate predicament but….
Try contacting the CEO directly to complain

IAmNoAngel · 11/04/2018 01:16

No, no refund as yet as central reservations aren't open until 8am. I will get a refund in the morning, I will make sure of it.

Yes, I'm female and at least I'm in a car.

GlueSticks · 11/04/2018 01:17

Overbooking of pre-paid services ought to be illegal. Especially hotels when driving - if you are tired (unsurprising due to the time) and have made the eminently sensible provision of booking somewhere to sleep it is fucking outrageous that they are allowed to tell you to just keep on driving for another hour or whatever!

I'm a bit too far away to offer a bed for the night but I hope you sleep safely.

halfwitpicker · 11/04/2018 01:20

You need more than just a refund.

Hopefully by morning there'll be 500 posts on here and the DM will pick it up.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 11/04/2018 01:20
Noqonterf · 11/04/2018 01:20

Yes do contact the CEO. And yes that policy of double booking on prepaid services should be illegal. I'll think twice before booking with them that's for sure. Be safe op.

NoSquirrels · 11/04/2018 01:22

I will get a refund in the morning, I will make sure of it.

I'd want compensation on top of the refund, frankly.

Did you book on the non-refundable, pre-paid option? What wankers to give your room up. There should be a hierarchy somehow of calling if you haven't checked in by X time and a flexi-booking person wants your room...

Dvg · 11/04/2018 01:24

That's horrible!!!!!! It's just good you have a bloody car! Imagine having to go out in the dark and having nowhere to go

Graphista · 11/04/2018 01:24

Disgusting behaviour on their part at the very least can they not let you bed down in an office or something? Have u no money to go to a competitor? Or nearby b&b and pay tomorrow when you have your refund?

For once hoping a thread is picked up by msm
