Travel lodge. Am fucking fuming

IAmNoAngel · 11/04/2018 01:05

I am currently bedding down in the car park of the travel lodge at Birch services on the M62 as the room I booked and paid for over a month ago has been double booked and there are no rooms left.

Am especially pissed off as have driven here straight after a 6.30 start this morning and a long day at work... in Nottingham. So a nice tiring drive as well.

I have stayed here a lot. I never will again. Cunts.

Oh you def need compensation. I'm guessing you have to work tomorrow?

Cherrypieface123 · 11/04/2018 01:27

Can you get into Warrington at all, OP?

Inertia · 11/04/2018 01:28

Bloody hell, that’s awful. I didn’t realise that was allowed, especially given that you have prepaid.

I will not use Travelodge again , given that policy.

IAmNoAngel · 11/04/2018 01:28

No duvet offered, I have a coat.

Yes, I'm tired, but there are night closures on roads and I don't know my way around.

I always let them know I will be a late arrival as I come straight from work and have never had a problem before.

I didn't know they overbooked the rooms! This must be a regular occurrence then Hmm

That's bloody awful. We booked 2 family rooms overnight in Dundee one half term, and it was snowing. I wouldn't have been at all happy with us ending up all in our cars in the car park!

SweetMoon · 11/04/2018 01:30

That's terrible. Surely if you've paid for the room they can't book it out to someone else. Shocking. Go in and demand a pillow and duvet at least op.

i'd be all over twitter and facebook with this. It is absolutely wrong for them to leave a female guest who has paid for a room in her car in a carpark - that simply doesn't feel safe. I would not sleep. At the least they could put you up in the lounge or an office surely.

TheTimeToChange · 11/04/2018 01:36

I’m so sorry, OP - that’s absolutely awful of them!! Please do email the CEO, and definitely contact customer services on Facebook and Twitter. Hoping you get compensation as well as a refund.

Aquamarine1029 · 11/04/2018 01:37

Please make sure you are safe. Doors locked, parked in a well lit area near people. This is so fucking outrageous! And you are a repeat customer!

NualaCassia · 11/04/2018 01:39

If be going back in, demanding a duvet and pillow and bedding down on a sofa in the lounge/bar wherever.

No way would I sleep in my car when I had booked and paid for a room.

That’s terrible.

NoSquirrels · 11/04/2018 01:40

No duvet offered

Fucking hell.

Please go back in, ask to be allowed in whatever staff facilities there are - lobby sofa or bar if necessary, or a taxi to the hotel they offered (and a guaranteed one back again tomorrow.)

A coat won't keep you warm the closer it gets to dawn. Please do go back in and make a fuss. It's actually better for the staff if you make a pain of yourself now and give them a chance to redeem themselves...

Yarboosucks · 11/04/2018 01:41

Do you want us to start phoning them and complaining on your behalf? There seem to be 2 TLs at your location which one is it?

RainbowGlitterFairy · 11/04/2018 01:42

That's disgusting, I would be pushing for compensation not just a refund.

It says that it makes every effort to ensure that customers are not relocated, which happens to fewer than 0.2% of its bookings and that “we ensure that the process excludes disabled, family and single female traveller bookings”. Because moving men, couples and groups without children is totally ok right? A man in OP's situation would be just as uncomfortable and pissed off, more than 1 person trying to sleep in a car even more so. What a ridiculous rule.

cloudchasing · 11/04/2018 01:43

Do I have your permission to tweet this thread OP?

GnotherGnu · 11/04/2018 01:43

There must be hotels nearer to you than Ancoats. Go back in and demand that you be placed in one.

NellythePink · 11/04/2018 01:47

Please don't spend the night in the car, they should at the very least offer you a sofa with a duvet. This is completely appalling.

Octave777 · 11/04/2018 01:50

This happened to me. I arrived knackered after hours travalling and they wanted me to walk to the station and get a half hour train journey to another travelodge. Would have taken an hour altogether. I got another hotel but cost loads.

It's mind boggling.

HadronCollider · 11/04/2018 01:55

Rainbow Women are significantly more likely to be say, raped when alone, in a car park near a motorway than men, don't be ridiculous for the sake of it. (and yes, I know the overall possibility is still relatively small but that doesn't change the point).

HadronCollider · 11/04/2018 01:58

OP can you not at least sleep in their lobby on a sofa or a chair at least? They can't surely refuse you. Don't they have staff room at all? I remember in my young days, a friend got stuck half drunk near Tower Bridge and a nearby hotel let her sleep in their lobby, and that was nearly 20 years ago.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 11/04/2018 02:00

Make sure you speak to the manager of the service station, my DH got a parking fine for similar.

lostjanni · 11/04/2018 02:02

Tweet them. Papers. Leaving someone with no bedding in a car in the cold and not trying to help. Could really ruin their image

VimFuego101 · 11/04/2018 02:03

This is shocking. I hope you are safe, OP.

Noqonterf · 11/04/2018 02:04

A man in OP's situation would be just as uncomfortable and pissed off, more than 1 person trying to sleep in a car even more so.

They might be, and it's still not good. Travel lodge shouldn't do that to anyone. But I've gotta say, as a female sleeping alone in the car park, yes I would be uncomfortable and pissed off, but overriding all of that, I would also be afraid. I'm not sure that lots of men feel like that for the same reasons tbh.

lostjanni · 11/04/2018 02:06

Noqonterf. My husband would be.
In all honesty everyone would most likely be afraid of mugging or a violent attack.
