Answer the door

Put the bins out.

Go down to breakfast in someone’s house.

Go down to breakfast in a hotel

Early morning dog walk

Go to the shops.

Do the school run.

??

I would (and do!) do all except the last three because I am terminally lazy and rarely dressed before noon if I don’t have to be. AIBU and a dreadful skank?

I have clean pj every night

paxillin · 06/04/2018 00:32

But do you wear them to the shops, @LipstickHandbagCoffee?

RoseWhiteTips · 06/04/2018 00:36

So many people can’t even spell pyjamas.🙄

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 06/04/2018 00:37

Gosh no.pj are indoor attire.youll not catch me dawdling outdoors in pj.thats skanky

DianaBlythe · 06/04/2018 00:45

It probably does somewhat depend on what your sleepwear is.... Joggers/leggings and a T-Shirt probably more acceptable than something pink and fluffy saying “goodnight, sheep tight” or some such!

BedtimeTea · 06/04/2018 06:55

I wear them for lounge wear and change into a nightie to sleep. I would answer the door wearing a robe, but that is it. Oh I wore them to my ds's house a few times when I had to go feed his cat when he was away. The cat didn't judge.

BedtimeTea · 06/04/2018 07:04

PS. I only wore them to my ds's because I was sick, it was dark out, so I risked it

FusRoDah · 06/04/2018 07:12

The first three for me. Long PJ's and a jumper for wandering around someone else's house though and assumes they are family or good friends (otherwise probably wouldn't be staying over).

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 06/04/2018 07:20

First three. Going to breakfast at someone’s house is only included for me as my parents live on my street so my poor neigbours do often see me wondering around in my PJs

Haberpop · 06/04/2018 07:28

I've walked the dogs in pyjamas before. I couldn't see the point in getting up, taking off pyjamas, getting dressed, taking the dogs out, coming home, undressing, showering and getting dressed back into my uniform all before 6am so I used to walk them in pyjamas, boots and a big, thick coat. As it was 5am when we would set out anyone who judged was welcome to walk the hellbeasts for me.

Aloneandscared25 · 06/04/2018 07:45

Life’s too short I would do any of them in a flash if I had to haha and have !
Skanky maybe but I would have rather ds 10 not be late from school ( don’t get out of car ) than get dressed.
The reason would normally be because dd5 Iv fluids or machines had been playing up and been a hectic morning.
I would also run in the evening across to Sainsbury’s ( literally 4 doors down ) in my pyjamas for a loaf of bread if I had forgotten it and it was late.
I don’t see why it matters to anyone else I would rather be in my pyjamas than some of the clothes I see people wander around in 🙈

Personally think it should be acceptable to wear PJs and dressing gown of an evening in a hotel bar, when travelling on business eg on a weekday evening and the alternative is just sitting in your room. And the same for breakfast, as long as you’ve cleaned your teeth first. I travel a lot and find it so irritating that I have to be more presentable to do things that, at home, I wouldn’t get necessarily get dressed for.

colleysmill · 06/04/2018 07:56

The only time ive ever been seen outside in my pjs is when camping. Im seriously not getting dressed in the night to pop to the toilet block although ill chuck a hoodie on over the top.

catinapoolofsunshine · 06/04/2018 08:53

sparkler the alternative isn't sitting in your room, it's wearing clothes surely. You go for it if you want, if you're unhappy with social norms and think they're unreasonable challenge them.

A hotel bar is nothing like being at home though - at home there are plenty of people who might be happy sitting about in their pants and nothing else or totally naked, or lying on the floor instead of standing or using a chair, all of which might cause a disturbance in a hotel bar... The idea that because you're there in the evening it should be acceptable to behave as you would in your living room is a bit far fetched.

What the.... 😂

newmama2018 · 06/04/2018 09:34

I can't believe some of the conversation pieces here! I definitely couldn't do half these things. I had surgery on Wednesday and as soon as I came round I was getting dressed because I didn't want to be seen in my gown/hoodie. The thing with me is that I don't think strangers should ever see me in my pyjamas. My neighbour happily goes outside to knock on wearing her pyjamas though.

Slartybartfast · 06/04/2018 10:39

first 2

Slartybartfast · 06/04/2018 10:40

oh you forgot, Hang washing on the line, which I do, in my dressing gown , as long as it is before midday, after midday i would have to get dressed.

Slartybartfast · 06/04/2018 10:43

oh i have put jeans and a jumper and coat on top of night wear to walk dog.

Grandadwasthatyou · 06/04/2018 12:57

I am the poster who started other thread about being surprised at people coming down to breakfast in pyjamas in a large well known hotel. ( Don't know how to link to my thread I'm afraid).

Following my email to them expressing my surprise their reply states that " although they do not have a specific policy with regards to entering the restaurant in nightwear , they certainly would not encourage it".

As I said earlier , the restaurant manager would not have been able to miss the fact they weren't dressed as he would have had to check their room number off for breakfast as they were standing in front of him. A simple "we like our guests to be dressed for breakfast" would have sufficed.

RoseWhiteTips · 06/04/2018 13:43

Hard to believe how ignorant some people are. You get dressed for breakfast in a hotel. Fgs

DamsonOnThisDress · 06/04/2018 16:16

"Although they do not have a specific policy with regards to entering the restaurant in nightwear..." made me smile.

We shouldn't need a policy to tell us we shouldn't wear our jammies into a restaurant, surely?! Picturing bewildered hoteliers here...

Icanttakemuchmore · 06/04/2018 17:46

I'm having a pj day today. I'm not well so have an excuse. But I wouldn't do anything in my pj's except for answer door and put bins out in the morning. Dh is home today too so he's answered the door for an amazon delivery about half hour ago as I'm still in pj's. I would not go out in public like it, although I'm going to accompany dh in car shortly to the shop for some air but I won't be getting out of the car (she says, hoping we don't have a crash or break down!).

Icanttakemuchmore · 06/04/2018 17:47

Slartybartfast totally agree!

Icanttakemuchmore · 06/04/2018 17:48

Slartybartfast totally agree with the washing on line post
