Totally prepared to be told I AIBU and I know it's a first world problem but my DF purchased DP and I a £100 voucher for Marco Pierre whites steakhouse for us to treat ourselves due to me being in and out of hospital since the beginning of December with abnormal cells found on cervix turning out to be CGIN and other issues with my womb.
We finally got around to booking last night to kind of celebrate the end of a shitty few months and I've only just read the small print. It expired on 31st March Sad
I called the restaurant to ask kindly if they would mind extending it due to circumstances the women that answered was kind and said that would be fine if I could send proof of results and hospital appointments (which I was happy to do.)
She's then gone of and spoken to the manager and manager has said point blank said no I should of told them this while it was going on. They now have £100 of my DF money and we have no amazing food Sad
We've been a few times previously and I loved it, that's why he bought it.
So AIBU in thinking they could of extended it for extra 2 weeks? I know it's my fault for not reading the small print.

I've retweeted too. There's a MPWBirmingham as well. Hope it turns out well for you OP

AskMeHow · 04/04/2018 21:34

If you were going to MPW for steak, you should go to Fiesta del Asado instead. It's the best place in Birmingham for it.

If you just want a nice restaurant you could try Gusto, the Pig and Tail, or Fumo. Good luck with getting it sorted though, I hope my recommendations are irrelevant and you get to have the dinner you were looking forward to.

pilates · 04/04/2018 21:38

Hope you get a positive outcome op, disgusting behaviour

BeefyCakes · 04/04/2018 21:38

Have retweeted, haven't got a scooby how twitter works but hey hopefully it'll work :)

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 04/04/2018 21:39

If I were you I would now tweet

Hey @whatevertheirhandle is, in what world is it ok for your managers to ask me for private medical records regarding cancer treatment in order to extend a gift voucher? (Then a link to this thread)

It will be tweeted by people who aren’t on MN.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 04/04/2018 21:40

Without the cancer part obvs, brain running away with me.

Pinkmexicanskull · 04/04/2018 21:45

Sorry to say Marco Pierre White is one of the dodgiest restaurant groups that I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I’d always steer well clear!

Pinkmexicanskull · 04/04/2018 21:45

But agree with other posters, get on Twitter ASAP. Or if you can be bothered go to restaurant direct to deal with them, you’ll get more than on phone or email.

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 21:48

Got quite a few re tweets now but if nothing comes out it I've looked into one of the suggestions above Grin

Wow, where i work we would have extended them for you ( 1 month extension) wished you well and never ask for your medical records. We have been sent medical records and lots of private info by mistake. We delete the information safely (IT department do it) and advise the customer. Recently i was sent online banking details, when i advised the customer they were so thankful we had been honest and made sure the info was handled carefully. Customer thought he was replying to his wife.

Tweet them, where i work if you tweet you will be delt with asap.

ghostyslovesheets · 04/04/2018 21:51

yes try twitter.com/MPW_Birmingham

the other account hasn't been updated for 2 years

youarenotkiddingme · 04/04/2018 21:52

I don't get why it has an expiry date anyway?

You've paid them £100. Why do they get to keep it after just 3 months?

pimlicolife · 04/04/2018 21:57

We have one of these vouchers also for £100 which we were given for Xmas and ours has a 12 month expiry date on it.

Would it be worth questioning why the expiry date is so short?

Pimmsypimms · 04/04/2018 22:04

Signed up to Twitter tonight to retweet for you, no idea what I’m doing, so can’t guarantee it actually worked 😳. Terrible service though, it has absolutely put me off visiting or buying a voucher as a gift!

loveisevol · 04/04/2018 22:12

I've just seen Mrs Gloss has retweeted, there's 120,000 people in that fb group alone. Woohoo! Let's hope this gets sorted.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 04/04/2018 22:17

Retweeted for you Kizzy. Good luck..!

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 22:20

You should also @Birminghampost in the thread / I didn’t want to do it in case you’d prefer not to...

HippyChickMama · 04/04/2018 22:26

I've retweeted. If you have no luck and you're looking for somewhere to eat may I suggest the Old Joint Stock? Beautiful old pub that does a fantastic line in pies and ale if you like that kind of thing? Not quite as posh as MPW though! Also the Jekyll and Hyde for cocktails, it's my favourite pub in all of Brum, lovely gin cocktails.

RolyPolyLilBatFaceGirl · 04/04/2018 22:29

Was the voucher purchased via groupon? It could be that they didn't allow it as after the expiry date, they're unable to claim the money from groupon

However this is no reason why they shouldn't just gift the meal as that's decent customer service

FrozenMargarita17 · 04/04/2018 22:30

Have quoted and retweeted for you OP

Pfftkids · 04/04/2018 22:31

Retweeted it to my 5 followers 😆 hopefully something good comes of it

KizzyBear · 04/04/2018 22:36

No, I've just checked the voucher again and it definitely has come from Marcos directly.
I don't think I want it to go as far as papers Blush I'm the type that gets 9 likes on a Facebook post by the same 9 people every time Grin I've never expected it to get that many re tweets! Blush

If I were you, I’d also be asking how your medical information will be stored.
